Arthur didn't back down, he outsmarted Thor. Horrible comment on Thor's
intelligence, really. I see another fusion here, maybe with Herb or Kirin
instead of Thor? and a Hiryuu Shoten Ha knocking the party off-course.

Maybe have trillian as another Fiancee who recognizes the name 'Ranma
Saotome' and remembers the boy that her father engaged her to so long ago?
If i wanted to stick as closely as possible to HHGG canon, i'd pick
character-mappings for the purpose, i.e. one or more of Ranma/Zaphod
Kuno/Arthur[both dimwits] Fenchurch/Fiancee_Of_Your_Choice, if Akane,
Nabiki/Russell, otherwise, Nabiki/ProstituteEconomist [chapter5/ThxFish]
Or if you just want to incorporate elements from both, (and be really
malicious towards Ranma) switch Ranma with Rob McKenna [the Rain God]
Note: if you don't get the 'prostitute economist' label, look up the
definition of 'prostitute' in a dictionary, then read chapter five. it's not
ecchi, her 'service' for rich people is telling them that it's okay to be
rich.
