A lot of you have been writing in about the Sakaba? A sakaba is a bar,
they serve drinks there. Kenshin's sword is a Sakabato. Ahem, at any
rate, It was kind of a mistake on my part. I was thinking of a Bokuto,
not a Sakaba.
[I've heard he used a stick IIRC] Anyway, I'm not using the OAV's or the
TV series as a back ground for this. I'm using the manga. [The only RK
I've seen...]
That means Kenshin did not use the Sakabatou until the end of the war.
Well after Tomoe's death. He continued his service with the killing sword
until the end, only after the fighting was over did he swear to give up
the blade. [There's a scene during the whole Shishou affair that shows
how he got the Sakabato.]
Ranma was using what was on hand at the dojo, a shinai, Akane often uses
one to belt Ranma with when she's at home. In fact, I think she hits him
more with a shinai than she does with the fabled mallet IIRC. The reason
for this is the fact that I don't want to spoil the Sakabato for people
who haven't read RK yet, and it's fun to tease those who have.
To answer another question, Ranma is not the decendant of Kenshin. He is
a fusion of the two characters.
As for how did he learn Hiten Mitsurugi? Well, Kenshin's master could
have continued to teach even if Kenshin himself swore to never teach it.
I never saw anything that said Kenshin was his only student, before or
after he studied under the old man.
Yes, Ranma will wear a school uniform. I realize that it's something
Kenshin would probably do. However, he didn't have one yet as it was his
first day of school. The whole school thing was a surprise to him if you
remember, he didn't exactly have much time to prepare.
Why doesn't Nabiki like Ranma? He's nice, polite, handsome...etc etc...
Ranma is a weirdo. He dresses in samurai clothing, carries around a
sword, and acts like a complete doofus half the time who suddenly grows
intelegent just when he happens to need it. Nabiki and her sister will
probably not be too attracted to the fact that he's cursed when they
eventually find out either.
Yes, I've been having Ranma not change yet on purpose. He's a battle
experienced samurai and martial artist. He's a lot better than he was
IIRC. His mindset towards combat is more serious as well, cannon Ranma
often didn't take his opponents seriously, he was also fairly easily
distracted and naive. This Ranma has been through quite a bit already so
he's not going to react like Ranma would.
