I've never seen Escaflowne. I hear they're bringing it over on Fox. I hope
the dub will be as quality as the one they've given Gundam Wing, with the
one exception that it will be aired on a channel I can actually _get_ here
at college.
Hopefully it goes through ^.^ I've been hearing some nasty rumours that the televised dubbing was a nasty rumour. Dangit.
Well, the first thing you need to do is line-wrap your fic. Not too hard,
really... make a .txt file out of it, go into Notepad, and keep pressing
End, then Enter. A lot of paragraphs I was getting into the flow of suddenly
snapped in a flurry of exclamation points.
Really? o.o;;
Must be the AOL Internet Mail. Never had a problem cutting and pasting with Hotmail.. thought I could get the same results. Hopefully that's why I haven't got much in the way of C&C ^.^;;
I don't know Dilandau. I've heard things, and you paint an excellent picture
of a young woman trying to control a psychopath. But that's not where the
_real_ strength of this story is.
It's in the worldsetting. I _feel_ that there's a whole world beyond the
little one you're telling your story in. That I can look out from the
parapet of the castle and see forever, or descend into the crowd and listen
to this and that. The description is _very_ vivid, and accentuates the plot
very nicely indeed. And the end...
Neat-o ^.^ Something totally unintentional too. A lot of Esca fics out there tend to center a whole mess on just Van + Hitomi = True Love and screw the rest of the world. The fact of the matter is, if you ever watch the series, there are tons and tons of great countries in this world that are cool mimics of several of the ones in the "normal" world. Sort of like SMJ, except way more on the side. I think there's one other fic out there that centers on the other worlds, but for the life of me I can't remember the URL. If you want to search for it, it's the Escaflowne Continuation (I think): this huge effort to round robin a continuation of the series. It's interesting, but it's a little taxing on my poor faulty browser ^.^;; The entire thing is archived on a .doc instead of txt.
Well, let's just say I wish the dub would get here a little faster, so I can
actually _understand_ this thing. But it is an excellent, excellent piece of
work. Fix the little technical problem you have with line-wrapping, and a
lot more people are going to read it.
Dah ^.^;; I'm gonna repost asap.
Most people don't read the spoiler fics if they haven't seen the series. I sorta hate that I've probably spoiled a wee bit of it for you, but I guarantee you'll still like to watch it! ;) Thank you!
