Subject: [FFML] Need writing advice

A question to anyone who cares to offer their opinion/answer:

The major fic I'm currently working on (Operation Lightsphere) has begun to
turn quite dark, especially during the chapter I am currently writing. To
counterbalance this, I have decided to write another fic - a light, highly
sentai-inspired series.

My problem is: What's the best way to go about keeping things interesting
in a "light"-toned series, without it degenerating into total comedy?
(While comedy will definitely have a place in the fic, I don't want it
taking over - IMO I'm not good at pure humor fics).

Any advice would be appreciated.
