Subject: [FFML] Re: [Fanfic][Ranma][A Change of Scene, Chapters 85-87]
Nabiki raised her voice. "Don't argue with me! How often do I
give
away money with no strings attached? Just buy what you need, and
keep
where it came from to yourself. Ranma doesn't ask how you spend
your
money, does he?"
"No, he just gives me his paycheck and lets me take care of
everything."
Ah. A good, traditional arrangement. :)
I can't call Ranma & Akane a "traditional" couple, but it seems to me
that he would have no problems accepting the very Japanese "wife takes
care of the household" tradition.
It's not just a Japanese tradition. It's also a Korean tradition, something
that my mom has told me to consider when I get around to choose a wife.
Continually warning me on not having a relationship with woman who wastes
money on stupid stuff. <sigh> At any rate, I don't believe it's a Chinese
tradition as well, but I would strongly think so. Don't have any friends
with real traditional Chinese parents that explained this kind of stuff to
their kids. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it's an asian tradition,
not specific to any culture, but I seriously doubt it. (And if you're
curious, China and Japan conquered Korea, Korea conquered Japan and invaded
China, so a bit of languages, traditions, and customs are inevitably shared
among the three. And some of you wonder why we asians aren't particularly
fond of each other some times)
