Just finished reading 1-3 of Genma's Daughter today and I thought I'd give
a few comments on what I thought of the fic.
The idea is intresting, and unique twist on the genre of 'Ranma becomes a
girl fic'. I do like the premise and some of the steup given to the idea.
My problem is with the pacing, in that everything IMSO just feels rushed.
To Ranma accepting the change, to Akane realting to the new Ranko, to the
Amazon's giving up on Ranma, and to the letting Genma of the hook. I feel
that the characters would need more time to accept these changes, perhaps
with more conflict as the past parts of Ranma's life collide with Ranko's
past and her attempted future.
Instead it seemed like everyone just had a inital case of shock, and than
accepted the changes as normal. And while I can see that for Akane given
the backstory you've set up for her (I like how you handled her temper in
part 1), I can't see it for the others. Especially Shampoo, who's whole
status in the tribe is to chase after Ranma (and I don't think Cologne
would given in as easily, but then that may be me..:P).
The same applies with how Genma was brought back in. I expected a rougher
ride for him when he came back in, and to see the people let him off the
hook so easily just short of shocked me. I can see Ranko letting him go,
but not Ukyou or Shampoo (Especially Ukyou who's through so much because
of Genma...).
Still, the fic was well written and nice clean read, and I could be wrong
about the pacing (Failed Chem-major, not an English major...:).
