A NOTE FOR ALL THOSE HOSERS WHO LIKE THIS FIC: All the power to
you.
Obviously you haven't read much fanfiction out there. Leifker,
Zen,
Lawson, Perry all put this fic to shame in the general
keep-ability
of most readers. I don't much care for pandering to the
popular,
and I never have. I read what I like, and if I don't like it,
then
I either leave it alone (My usual reaction) or I write about
what i
didn't like and found obnoxious (Which is what happens when
everyone
gloats, raves, and oozes about how good a fic is, and I read it
and
become disappointed).
This may be needlessly combative to comment on, but...this is just
my
$0.02. Hear me out, this is not intended as a flame.
I know that, were I the author, I would find constructive
criticism to be
valuable. However, I also know that if someone calls a piece of
writing
'horseshit' and refers to everyone who likes it as 'hosers', the
authors -
and indeed, most everyone else - will probably disregard it. Any
actual
merit in the comments is lost... and if that is the case, what was
the
point of posting the comments in the first place?
I get the feeling - perhaps erroneous - that this particular piece
of
fanfiction struck a nerve with several people, hence the reactions
either
violently in favor of or violently against it. :)
No. Didn't strike much with me. In fact, I probably would not
have reacted as I had if it hadn't been for all the idiots who kept
telling me "WOW! THIS IS THE GREATEST FIC AROUND!"
I tend to believe people when they say that, but this is the
first time I haven't. So I begin wondering if my friends have
brains at all to waste my time annoying me with "GO READ THIS FIC,
IT'S GOOD!" when it really isn't all that chipper.
Oh, and the whole Hoser thing. That isn't an insult for me,
that is like calling people silly. I'm sure if I had said "SILLY
PEOPLE" none of you would've been overly offended. I call my best
FRIENDS hosers. Call 'em up and say "Heya Hoser, how's it goin'?"
and other such stuff.
And incidentally, if nobody likes my opinions on the fic, they
don't have to agree. Isn't that how opinions work? No use flaming
me for flaming a fic, that only starts a flame war... which gets
boring fast, as well as annoying to the moderators of the list.
Like I said before, I only read the first part and I didn't
like it. My response was based on my major annoyance by people who
claimed this was some sort of GOD fic.
And there are people on the list who agree with me, it is
annoying to hear about a fic non-stop when it isn't really all that
good.
