Characterization: There are so many things wrong I cannot
begin to name them.

Obviously you haven't read much fanfiction out there. Leifker, Zen,
Lawson, Perry all put this fic to shame in the general keep-ability
of most readers.

Quantum Destinies, Ranma & Akane: A Love Story, The Bitter End,
Hearts of Ice. Until now, I haven't disagreed with anyone about
what is good and what is bad.
'The Bitter End' is rather famous for having its most important
characters OOC w.r.t. canon, but nevertheless being so well
written that, while reading, the reader believes in the characters
anyway.
I find 'Genma's Daughter' similar in this respect. While I'm NOT
reading the story, but thinking about its premise, I tend to agree
with Mr. Shimitsu: various characters are OOC. While I AM
reading the story, however (and under the author's spell), I
believe in the characters whole-heartedly.
But, as I said, I've always been a sucker for a troubled, crying
Ranko. I'd never write Ranma that way myself, but a well-written
version always seems to get me to suspend all disbelief.
