Title: Urusei Yatsura - The Senior Year: "Insurgency!"
Review:
I've read UY-TSY and well, I didn't care much for it. Not that because it's bad.
It is quite well written. But, there's a feeling about it that bores me a bit.
I know what you mean, especially since I've had to really
research this story to make this fit in the continuity. It is a well
written and thought out series, but without a doubt it is deeply
flawed.
But as they taught you in Eng 4, slog through a written work and you'll find at
least one jewel or a diamond mine. And in the end, hold no bias but judge the
work by it's merit and you own somewhat skewed logic. ^_^
Anyway, and admirable piece of writing. Good pacing and very good
descriptions. It is a very fine piece of work and would go over well with
UY-TSY fans, of couse excepting those the author managed to offend
with some portrayal as given in the note, and it might even get a few
newbies interested in the main series. It works very well and it might
even convert me. But as all Bibats are hard to convert, I doubt that. ^_^
Well, Ataru in this didn't come out quite as bad as I was
thinking he would in this chapter: I actually managed to put some
depth in him. As Anand Rao mentioned, I seemed to have imparted an
almost Hamlet-like quality to him (wonder if that makes Mendou into
his Laertes...hmm, maybe we shouldn't go there!)
Anyway, I wouldn't worry about converting into a fan of the
main series. As long as you like this, that'll be good enough.
Again, thanks.
