Ranma's Brother

Author's notes:

    Well here it is, I finally got it posted.  This is going to be a continuing series and I have no plans to completely stop it, I might take a break for a few months before I start to write again though :o).  While this is a insertion fic, it is not a self-insertion fic.  This will also explain why he is not all powerful like in some fics I have read.  This is the revised version.

CHAPTER 1

    James Hawk was jogging home, talking to himself.  "I hope my new Ranma 1/2 video comes in the mail today!  Man, I wish I knew what Ranma felt like in all of his adventures." He said while clutching a old piece of amber.
    It was a family heirloom that supposedly had weird magical powers, that one of his ancestors had supposedly encased a powerful demon inside.  It was a dark red, unlike the brown that was amber's namesake.  If one looked closely at it, you could see a dark red cloud swirling inside of it, but James didn't care, he liked the way it felt and looked.  It was rumored to be a monkey's paw-type magical artifact in which it grants wishes in unknown and possible unwanted ways.
    Suddenly the amber flew out of his hand and landed on the ground.  Not reacting soon enough, James stepped on the amber and felt a jolt of electricity before he fell to the ground unconscious.  Any observer would have thought they were going nuts, for they had just seen a boy turn into a bolt of lightning and strike through the sky.

    "W-What happened?" James said as he stood up, a little dizzy.  He looked around and recognized the place at once.  It had over 100 springs of water, each with a bamboo pole sticking out of it.
    "H-Huh?  Jusenkyou? That means...." James said as he looked for the piece of amber. *OH NO! Dad is going to kill me!* he thought.  He laughed to himself over worrying that, his father had been dead for 2 years.  He snapped out of it as he heard sounds of fighting behind him.
    He turned around to find a pig-tailed boy fighting an older heavier bald man.  *That kid looks like Ranma.... Wait...I think that IS Ranma, that means I have to stop him!* he thought without realizing what could happen to him.

    "NOOOOOOO!" He yelled as he ran towards the two.  Genma, being distracted by the scream, was caught off guard by Ranma and was kicked him off of the pole and into the spring beneath him.  He was so caught up in the shock that he did not notice the changes his body was going under.
    What jumped out wasn't him, but a panda.  Shocked at the panda that jumped out of the spring, Ranma didn't notice that a boy stood below him about to hit the bamboo pole he was standing on, and that a panda was in the air, aimed at him.  All at once,  James unsuccessfully tried to knock Ranma off the pole, and was knocked  into the spring with Ranma by the panda.
    As they both surfaced, a Chinese man approached them and said, "Poor customer, you two fall in Nyannichuan, Spring in Drowned Girl.  Very tragic story of girl who drowned here fifteen hundred year ago.  Now whoever fall in spring take form of girl."
    "W-W-What?!?!" Ranma and James said together.  They looked down at their chests, took off their shirts, and let out a scream that was heard even at the Amazon village.

    After the initial shock of being cursed, James realized that his memory of the anime he was living in was gone, only the fact that it was an anime/manga still in his head.  The guide showed them how the curse was de-activated, by pouring hot water over their heads.          "Yeouch!" screamed Genma as he realized that he was not a panda anymore.  He was going to dance around when a pair of feet smacked him in the face.  In front of him stood a girl,  red headed and apparently furious at him.  "Heh Heh girl.....let's not get hasty" said Genma as he started to back up, only to be greeted by another redhead from behind.  As if telepathic, both girls started pummeling on him.

    Unknown to them, a bandanna-clad figure could be seen on a cliff overlooking Jusenkyou.  He looked around and spotted a redheaded girl transforming into his wanted target.
*Ranma Saotome, you will pay for what you have done to me!*thought the boy as he started to run to the edge.  Confident that he could make it, Ryouga jumped off the edge.  He landed clumsily on the uneven terrain.  He took a step forward and *SPLASH*.

    After they were satisfied with the damage they had caused, they changed back to their true forms and started talking, while Ranma was waiting for his father to wake up.
    "So, you know martial arts too?" asked Ranma.  "Yeah, I got interested in it about 4 years ago." replied the newcomer.   James was currently tossing his piece of amber between his hands, he had found it in the spring when he was knocked in.  "What school do you practice?" asked a curious Ranma.  "My families school, which I did not know existed until I asked my father..." said a suddenly downcast James.
    Ranma, thinking that James's father must be dead, could only feel sympathy for the kid, because he never knew his mother.  So he just patted James's back and asked him to do what always cheered him up or let him work out his frustrations.  " You wanna spar?"
    Surprised, and not knowing what to say, James just nodded his head.  He stood up and studied Ranma.  *Unknown stance, higher muscular build, a greater speed, a more advanced opponent.*
    Ranma, taking that time to do the same thing, instantly knew he was the greater fighter.  Ranma noticed how James was dressed and it struck him odd. *He reminds me of someone I used to know.*  Although unlike what he was dressed before he was transported, James was wearing a yellow tunic, and green pants that were tied down at the bottom.  He was dressed very much like a certain Ryouga Hibiki and looked like him too.
    During this time, Genma had waken up and watched the new kid with interest. *That amber he is tossing around has traits very much like the Jewel of Power.  I am almost certain because I was always supposed to be on the lookout for it when studying under the master.*
    Aware that there was someone watching him, he just told Ranma "It seems that your father is awake." and he took a relaxed position.  Aware that he had been spotted, Genma walked from out of the shadows.
    "Very good boy, your sense of your surroundings is greater than anyone I know." replied Genma with truth in his voice.  *I have to figure out how to keep this boy along until I figure out how to get that jewel from him.  Once I get it, I won't have to fear the master anymore."  "How would you like to come along with us for the journey?" asked the old man.  Not having anywhere else to go, he just nodded yes.
    "Okay, then just sign here" said Ranma's father in a suspicous tone of voice pointing to a spot on a piece of paper.  James signed it while Ranma was stunned at his father's eagerness to take someone with him, he wouldn't even take Ucchan.

    "This not good!  Amazon warrior just give boy kiss of death.  Be good thing we leave now!" yelled the guide at the trio in front of him.  Ranma had just been given the Kiss of Death by Shampoo.  He had been challenged by her to make up for the loss of her prize by him and his father.  James had just stayed near the guide, having a bad feeling about these people, which was confirmed by the guide.  While they were running away from the village, Ranma swore never to fight girls, and so did James.
    They had found out on the way to the village, that the paper that James had signed was an adoption paper, and that James was Ranma's adopted younger brother, by two years.  Ranma did not know why his father adopted a stranger on the spot, but was glad to have someone to talk to other than the furry bean-bag that was his father.  He had been training his brother to come close to how good he was so he could have another sparring partner and in turn learning about his brother's school of fighting.
    It was based on the elements: earth, wind, fire, and water.  Almost predictably, his brothers element was water.  His brother was trained to be aware of his environment and to adapt and blend in with his surroundings.  He was also trained to be quiet but very quick.  His brother said that Ranma's element would be both water and wind.  Quick, dangerous, and confident.  Those were the traits he had.  His brother was coming along pretty quickly in the 2 days he had taught him.  He estimated that his brother had doubled his skill, and was half as skilled he was himself.

    "No way Pop!" a redhead screamed as she kicked a panda into a sign pole, knocking him out.  "Way to go Ranma!" another redhead said.  From far away, you might say that the two girls were identical, but upon closer inspection, you could see that one was slightly thinner and more fully endowed (if possible).  Also that one was wearing a sleeveless blue Chinese shirt while the other, Ranma, was wearing a red one.  Other than that, they looked alike, almost like sisters.
    ` "Well that roundhouse you did back there wasn't too shabby, James." Ranma said as the other redhead beamed.  "OK, now lets go back to China to find a cure for this curse!" Ranma said running down the street.  It was at this time the panda chose to get back up and capture each girl under his arms and run down the street.

    Soun Tendou was sitting in front of a table, reading a postcard.  "At last! The day has come!  I will tell my daughters of this immediately.  He stood up, and called out his first daughter.  "Kasumi!"
    "Yes father?" replied an girl in an apron walking out of the kitchen.  She was about 19-20 years of age, although the innocence on her face made you want to believe otherwise.
    "Get ready for a family meeting while I get your sisters." said her father. "Okay" said Kasumi as she slipped back into the kitchen.
    Soun walked upstairs and into his middle daughter's room.  "Nabiki, get ready for a family meeting, I have an announcement to make." he said as he went to the room next door.
    "Akane.....where is that girl?" said Soun as he turned around to see Nabiki.  'She is probably down in the dojo, I'll get her father." Nabiki said as she walked down the stairs.
    Nabiki walked in her family's dojo and saw her sister breaking bricks with her hands.  "You know sis.  That is why the all boys think you are wierd." she said to her younger sister, stopping her hand in mid air.  "Nabikiiiii!" said the youngest Tendou in an annoyed voice, "You know I don't like boys!". "Then you won't be interested in what daddy has to say." she said as she left the dojo.  Akane stopped to think about it and followed her sister.

    "WHAT!" screamed Akane, "don't we have any say in who we marry?".  "Ranma has been in China training and will be here soon." said her father, totally ignoring her.
    "Ooo China", said Nabiki, intrigued.  *Maybe he could have met some rich Chinese family and is rich enough to marry.*  "Is he cute?"
    "I hope he is not too young." said Kasumi. *Young men boor me, they are just too....too...young.*
    "I have never met him, I don't know." replied Soun sheepishly.  "WHAT!  He could be a pervert or a creep!" bursted out eh youngest Tendou.
    Before anyone could object or continue, a loud noise came from the door.  "Quit it pops!".  Nabiki went to the door.  Following, Soun said, "That must be them."  Nabiki and her father were suprised to say the least to see two girls carried by a humongous panda.
    One of the girls was set down and said,"I'm Ranma Saotome, sorry about this.".  Soun hugged him until he felt something wrong.  He moved his hands against her feminine curves.  *She has a beautiful figure, wha...HER?* Was the elder Tendo's thoughts.
    Nabiki went up to Ranma and started poking her in the chest.  "Daddy...Ranma is not a boy, he's a girl!" she said.  While this was going on, James dug out a thermos and poured it over herself, returning to his actual form, and poured the rest of it over Ranma.
    "I'm glad I don't have to be a girl anymore, aren't you Ranma?" he said, oblivous to the fact that Mr. Tendo had fainted and the three Tendo sisters had a look of shock thier faces.

    When Soun woke up, the first thing he said was "How? How did you do that?". Ranma and Genma explained (Genma had found a tea-kettle of hot water), while James sat bored though he whole thing, and then, without warning, Genma said," Here, lets have a visual example." and picked up James and threw him in the koi pond.
    A wet and angry James-chan surfaced and yelled, "Why did you do that for?!?!" and ran towards him and threw him in.
    | Is that anyway to treat me, the person who has..| Genma signed and flipped the sign over |..made you his own son?|.  "YES!" replied the two (female) Saotomes.
     "So hot water changes you back right?" asked Soun as he poured a kettle full of water over James-chan and Genma-panda, "Then the curse isn't as bad as I thought." continued Soun happily.  "But it needn't be that hot!" Genma yelled.
    "Ranma, meet my daughters, Kasumi, Nabiki, and Akane." Soun said, "Pick one and they will be your fianc�e.".
    "He wants Akane." Kasumi and Nabiki said as they pushed her forward. "W-What?" Akane asked without a clue.  "You said you didn't like boys, and he is a girl half the time! Lucky You!" Nabiki said.
    "I can't marry him!  He's a couple in himself!" Akane replied.  Nobody noticed James flinching every time Ranma was insulted.
    "Now is no time for fianc�es, I'm going to China to find a cure.  Are you coming James?" Ranma asked.
    Before he could answer, Soun asked the newer Saotome, "You are a Saotome, right?"  "W-Well yes but..." James started to say not liking where this was going, but was interrupted as Soun yelled, "Good, since your brother does not want a fianc�e, you are Akane's fianc�!"  Upon hearing this, James lied down and went to sleep with a look of shock on his face (since men don't faint).
    "Oh my, he went to bed early, and that is good if he wants to go to school on time tomorrow." Kasumi said with a smile on her face.
    "S-School? I don't need to go to school, I am a martial artist!" exclaimed Ranma, but before he could run out the door, Genma stopped him.
    "Now boy, I know you don't like it, but you need to get an education so you won't be a dumb street brawler." Genma said as he hit Ranma so hard the pig-tailed martial artist joined James in slumber land.
