Belldandy's comment about Genma
needing to be taken "in hand" struck me as particularly gratuitous.
She's saying this based on what? The one extra engagement to Ukyo (plus
others that Nabiki here is sure happened, yet there's no evidence for in
canon)?

I see your point, but I think we might have gotten a little blase about
multiple fiancees. We've grown to accept the idea that 2 fiancees aren't as
much a problem as the serious matters of the cat-fist, whereas I can see the 2
fiancees being sufficient to upset Belldandy, especially if she were to
immagine someone else with a serious claim on Keiichi. Her sympathy to Ukyou
would be enough I feel. *OTOH* it might be the duty of the author to make
clearer Belldandy's reasons for the dislike. Both of you are better writers
than I; that's for you to decide.

I mean, this is BELLDANDY, for cryin' out loud; I don't think
she ever took a dislike to *anyone* in AMG, let alone a dislike based
only on hearsay. This, to me, is an indication that an author is letting
his personal biases run away with a scene.

I don't see anything OOC for her expressing displeasure based on heresay. It
would be OOC if she punished Genma based on heresay, but saying that he "had
to be taken in hand" after hearing it is understandable. As long as she checks
with Yggdrasyl in order to verify before actually punishing him.
