returned to America the first time, he made a show of saluting her- his
highest sign of respect. This doesn't make sense at all. And Noa,
while
she disagrees with Kanuka at times and feels jealous about her ability
at
times, is genuinely friends with her- as all the other SV2 people are.

Yeah. I wonder if anyone's write a Noa/Kanuka yuri lemon yet....

Er, okay. I can count the number of Patlabor fanfics (minus minor parts in
crossovers) on my hands. I can count the number of Patlabor lemons on one
finger. I doubt it... Only lemon out there deals with Kanuka and Shige.

(I am planning to do an out-takes episode for Patlabor: Personal Files if I
can come up with enough scenes to include in it, and in that there'll
probably be some lemony scenes, but thanks to the person who bugged me
about such scenes until I decided to do the outtakes (Gaffney), the Yuri
couple of the Patlabor Personal Files out-takes will probably be Kanuka
and... er, someone else. Don't want to spoil it, now)

Heh... sort of. I get the feeling the coffee maker is contraband, since
it's basically a sterno stove he makes it on...

Hmm, good point. Kind of campfire-style brewing, right?

yep.

Jovial? I'd hardly describe ANYTHING about Gotoh as Jovial... well,
unless
he's muttering to himself about how cute Shinobu is... he makes jokes
and
has a sense of humor, but he speaks in a rather bored and laidback
sounding
voice, pretty much all the time (except for a total of ONE scene in the
second movie, where he shouts at his superiors)

Sorry 'bout that. I watched the English dub of the movies and I rather
liked
his voice actor (argh! his name escapes me for now). I really give a lot
of
weight to the voices and how a caharacter speaks, me being a seiyu
fanatic.

The dubs of the movies weren't badly acted, I'll grant you that. However,
their SCRIPTS were downright horrible. Instead of "What is the purpose of
your visit" "Combat" to Kanuka, it was "Occupation" "Labor Pilot" (bleh),
and instead of having Tamiko wish her husband luck as he heads out in the
second movie, she threatens to divorce him! There are lots of bad examples
like that... don't trust the movie dubs...

"Well it isn't as if there's an awful lot of available officers to
assign to our division."
"But captain, she works with _dogs_," Shinohara couldn't help but
point out.

Shinohara's current partner treats her labor as a pet, and forces him to
buff and wax it clean if it gets even slightly scratched... He didn't
complain when the Idol Singer Kana came to practice in an Ingram... I
don't
think he'd complain about a police officer who's worked in the K-9
Corps.
Well, unless he's upset at having to work with ANYONE except Noa, who
he's
used to and sort of likes (never confirmed, but it's pretty obvious...)

My (unspoken) idea is that he's secretly afraid of dogs, and doesnt want
ANYONE to know about it, soince he's a cop and all. (I know, it sounds
like
Mitaka in Maison Ikkoku.)

Er... well, I dunno about that. I certainly haven't seen any evidence that
would support that in the anime, though to be honest I really can't think
of anything that might contradict that outside of the conversation between
himself and Noa in the first movie, where she talks about her first
Alphonse upon noticing that a nearby dog reminded her of him...

Noa's got the flu- she's not got anything that'll keep her out for more
than a few days. And all she'll need will be a uniform and maybe a
training outfit... well, and toiletries. But she shouldn't think of it
as
much more than a few day trip....

Okay, so I need something more serious that will require her to go home
to
Hokkido and recuperate....

Ergh... from one extreme to another, almost. You can bet Asuma's not going
to like that... there's a lot of good chemistry between him and Noa (even
if you DON'T subscribe to the philosophy of the two of them secretly liking
each other), and her being that badly injured\ill is bound to be playing on
his mind all the time (it sure as hell bothered her when he was injured).
Not really anything that sounds likely to alter your story, but it's a
complication you'll have to think about.

I have some idea of where to go with this, namely how Umi and Fuu fit
in,
but
other than that I haven't got much of a coherent plot. Suggestions,
questions, and comments are all welcome..

Well, I suggest you get ahold of the TV series- or at least the OAVs- to
improve the characterization of everyone... story ideas, well... from
this

Hai hai. It's just that the quickest way for me to get them in Metro
Mainla
is bootlegs and I vowed NEVER to by or even rent a bootlegged tape ever
again.

No rental joints with legit copies. , so I have to save up my
money--maybe
when I get a DVD-ROM....

Er, I don't think it's coming out on DVD- US Manga Corps is losing a lot of
money on the VHS's, and isn't likely to devote the resources to put it on
DVD (no proof that they won't- I haven't heard either way- but it seems
unlikely to me that they would). Get it on VHS- there are 5-6 episodes per
TV series tape, so it's a pretty good buy... (order from Amazon.com or
somewhere like that if it isn't in your local stores)
