Author Notes: After reading this you may wonder where the rest of it is. The
why and the how. Well, there is no rest. I want to deal with the after, not
the before. Why? Up to you. How? That can be infered. This is a personal
"what if?" wondering in text. If you think it's unfinished, I urge you to
write your own version. That's what fanfics are for.

Never Enough

She frowned and loaded her papers into her satchel. The assignments
had been finished, and so she reached for the nearest textbook. It was an
astronomy and cosmology book. She lightly turned back the cover and reached
for her plastic bottle. Taking a gulp she finished the first page and turned
to read the next. He face twisted as she realized that the bottle was empty.
She would have stayed there, reading like always, if it hadn't been for the
blonde who came up beside her.
"Ami!" shouted the blonde.
"Hai, Usagi-chan, right here," she answered from her place below a
large oak tree in front of 10th Street Junior High. She hastily closed the
book and placed the bottle into a secret pocket of her back-pack. She got
up and walked towards the blonde, seeming to idly pop a breath mint into her
mouth before the last second.
"I was going to go shopping, Ami-chan. Want to come?"
"No, I can't," and she couldn't, she hadn't had enough. "Maybe
another day, perhaps?"
The blonde frowned and replied, "You and your studying, studying,
studying! Live a little."
She smiled at her friend and just lightly shook her head. She
needed to go home. She hadn't had enough. She needed to go home. She
waved, smiled, and turned down a sidewalk to the street. She waited as the
bus came and got on as its doors opened. The trickle she had taken was
going away. Far away. She hadn't had enough.
The bus stopped off at the street that she walked home from, and
she stepped off with a kind word to the driver. The trickling had become
nothing more than a drop and she walked briskly up the street. She ran
as she came to the inside lobby and ran for the elevator. She stabbed at
her floor number and sank back into a corner. It rose and seemed to rise
forever until pinging loudly, announcing its arrival. She jumped up and
ran down the corridor, fishing the key from her pocket as she neared the
apartment's door.
She opened the door and went inside. She shut it and turned the
direction of the kitchen. Stepping in she look around for the stool
she used when getting high ingredients for whatever she was cooking. It
was in the corner next to the broom. She pulled out to the spot near
the cabinet she needed and stepped onto it. She leaned over slightly and
grabbed at the cabinet and opened it, reaching her hand into the back of
the cupboard she grabbed ahold of a brownish bottle and pulled it out.
She opened the slightly crusted bottle and sniffed its aroma. This would
be enough. She lightly touched it to her lips and crooked it up. The
warmness filled her.
Her eyes widened as she heard familiar patter of feet and her
name. She froze and the bottle dropped from her hand, hurtling towards
the ground below. It smashed and her name was called again, more urgently
this time. She just stood there, in her position of guilt and her paranoia
demanded it never would've happened had she listened to its voice.
The patter of feet came closer and closer until their owner was
standing, shock on her face and hurt in her eyes, in the opening of the
kitchen. The shock came first, then the angry words. At one point in time
a slap could be heard around the Juuban district. Crying was heard, and
threats from both directions. The final sound was that of silence, and
then a slow work towards a compromise.
She found herself looking over that this day, as she walked into
the group and sat down. The man with the notepad sat at the right and she
took one of the empty seats. He spoke and said, "Hello, all, we have a new
member, she's a bit young which makes it that much tragic. I hope she'll
be willing to introduce herself to us."
She gulped and stood up, "Hello, my name is Ami Mizuno, and I'm an
alcoholic."
End.
Well?
