The Three Magic Knights

Part 7

Dan tries to score.

The four magic knights wandered through the wilderness of Cephiro with
Dan taking his usual position a few yards back from the three girls. He
frowned as they chatted amongst themselves while he hung back lazily
keeping up while Mokona played in the grass nearby. The group stumbled as
the ground shook under their feet and Dan's face went from bored to
surprised. "What the?"
"An earthquake?" gasped Hikaru as she glanced around.
"In Cephiro it seems much more likely to encounter a monster than an
earthquake," said Fuu.
"What? Don't say things like that!" cried Umi with a frightened look.
Dan snorted in disgust. "That was no impact tremor, it was an earthquake
all right."
"How do you know this?" asked Fuu warily.
Dan just stared at her and shrugged his shoulders. "I used to live in
California, I know what an earthquake feels like."
"Need I remind you that Tokyo has earthquakes on occasion as well?"
snapped the girl.
"I've felt impact tremors too, it's a bit different," he replied with a
maddening calm.

Umi shrieked and jumped up in shock as Mokona latched onto her back. She
scrambled around for a moment in fear and the creature jumped into
Hikaru's waiting arms.
"Hey, all right dirt rat," said Dan with an approving smile.
"Mokona! Do you think it's funny to sneak up on people that way?" she
looked directly at Hikaru. "You've got to discipline that thing!"
"Ease up squirt gun," said Dan with a smirk. "He was just copping a
little feel, not that I can blame him." He looked her up and down giving
the girls an evil looking smirk.
Umi blushed and stared at him in shock for a moment while Hikaru growled
at the both of them under her breath. The blue haired girl turned back
towards Mokona and snarled at it. "Nobody feels me up you little
pervert!" She was stopped as the jewel on the creature's forehead started
to glow a deep purple. It jumped down and an image appeared before them.
"Xellos!" cried Dan in shock as the mage appeared in the circle.
"That's right, I'm afraid Cleff isn't available right now," said the
mage with a confident smirk.
"What do you want?" asked Fuu calmly.
"You'd better have a good answer, you know I don't like delays," snapped
the boy a little bitterly.
"Relax Dan, I'm filling in for Cleff until you fix things or destroy the
place, whichever happens first," the mage winked at them and smiled.
"After all, it is your fault that Cleff can't speak with you any longer."
"What do you mean?" asked Umi and Hikaru in unison.
"Yea, what the hell are you talking about?" asked Dan warily.
"Black magic, Cephiero has never experienced it before. All of the mages
here use Shawmanistic spells or white magic. You and I are the first
sorcerers ever to set foot on Cephiero," the man smirked at them and the
three girls stared at Dan in shock.
"What is this man talking about Dan?" asked Fuu.
Xellos didn't wait for him to answer. "The dragon slave calls upon the
power of a dark lord known as Shabranigdo, he is a powerful overdemon.
Cleff attempted to prevent the spell from being used and used the last of
his power ending up sealed in stone. So I decided to be a good little
mage and help him out by taking over for a while."
"Sorcerer? Come on Xellos, we both know that's a lie," snapped Dan
angrily.
"Yes, well that is still a secret you know," said the mage giving him a
warning glare with his golden eyes. Dan frowned slightly and kept silent.
"I suppose Cephiero is lucky you didn't decide to do the Giga slave or
the Ragna blade."
"It's still early," replied Dan coolly.
"To true. Oh, well." Xellos looked thoughtful and then slapped his fist
into his palm. "Oh, yea! I've got lines!" he pulled out a small stack if
index cards and cleared his throat. "The reason you feel the earthquakes
is the fact that Cephiero is crumbling."
	"Crumbling?" gasped Hikaru in shock.
"That's right, if you don't stop this and save Cephiero you three girls
won't ever be able to return to your home." The mage gave Dan a knowing
smile and he realized that he had been left out of that statement
intentionally.
Fuu spoke up causing both men to frown. "What about Mr. Dan?"
The boy decided to speak up for himself. "I'm not from the same world as
you three, I go home no matter what."
The three girls looked at him in shock and Hikaru got a confused frown
on her face. He noticed this and said nothing. "That explains how you
already know all these spells," said Hikaru with a slight waver in her
voice.
"No fair! How come he gets to go home and we don't!" cried Umi with a
completely shocked look on her face. "I wanna go home! I can't stay here
forever in this place with no convenience stores, or malls, or ice cream
shops!" Dan slapped her hard across the face and smiled to himself as she
hit the ground. She looked up at him in shock.
"Mr. Dan is right Umi, we can't be that selfish! These people need our
help and we're gonna save them!" cried Hikaru as her troubles vanished in
another inspired moment of pure hearted bravery.
"Actually, I just wanted to smack the bitch," replied Dan as he walked
away.
Fuu rushed up beside him and grabbed his arm gently turning him around.
"Mr. Dan, what is this Giga Slave Mr. Xellos told us about?"
He gave her a smile that sent chills down her spine and turned away.
"Pray you never find out."

Ascot floated above the Forest of Silence on a small rock that had
several smaller stones orbiting around it. He smiled to himself as the
building where Precea was staying came into view. "I wonder what kind of
game would be fun to play with those girls?" he thought about it for a
moment and decided. "I know! Beast I summon thee!" a magic star appeared
in the air in front of him and a large caterpillar emerged from it. The
beast was at least fifteen feet long and it growled at its master in
anticipation. "Adalante, I'm glad you came! You and I are gonna have some
fun OK?" the boy smiled as the creature roared happily. A small red ball
of light appeared in Ascot's hand and he tossed it towards the building.
"Adalante! Fetch!" The creature started forward chasing after the magical
ball. The boy laughed as he watched the red ball impact it's target in
the back and move inside of her body.

Precea was sitting on the window of the building smiling to herself
while holding the coin she had gotten from the strange boy. She felt
something strange at her back and dismissed it as a small wind. She stood
up and looked at the coin again. "I hope those four children are all
right, at first I couldn't imagine them as the legendary magic knights."
A familiar feeling impacted on her back as a creature Puu'ed loudly and
grabbed onto her.
The feeling stopped and she turned around to see Dan standing over the
rabbit creature glaring at it angrily. "Stop groping the girls you little
pervert!"
The woman smiled as she grabbed the creature by the lump that had
appeared on its head. Mokona! Now let's see, what would be a fitting
punishment for you?"
Dan held forward a small leather outfit and grinned at her. She blushed
slightly and turned away. "No, I'm afraid Mokona might actually enjoy
that."
"Mokona? What the hell are you talking about? This is for me," said the
boy with a lopsided grin. Hikaru appeared behind him fuming mad as the
other two girls held her back forcefully.
"You're back!" said the woman in shock.
Dan frowned as he heard strange noises from around the corner. He walked
over to them and saw two tiny little Asian women on the ground singing.
"Mooo-thera! Moooo-thera!" He glared at them for a moment and smiled.

Hikaru stood next to Precea and looked over as Dan came back around the
corner dragging his foot slightly. "What was that crunching sound?"
"Huh? Oh, it's nothing," replied the boy as he walked up to the group.
"Precea was just telling us about our evolving armor!" said Hikaru
cheerfully.
"Huh? Oh, yea. Let's just get these weapons made Ok?" he said a little
impatiently.

They found themselves standing in a white room with nothing in it. "This
is the creation room," she said proudly.
"You don't need tools to create weapons do you?" asked Fuu.
"Do you see any tools?" asked Dan flatly.
"She is quite right, all I need is a strong will," replied the woman.
"Now get out the Escudo!" she said cheerfully.
Dan looked at her. "With these three watching?" he looked back at the
girls and smiled. "All right!" his hand dropped down to his fly and
Hikaru tackled him from behind with a mask of rage on her face.
"Not that! The ore!" he looked up at her blankly and shrugged as the
jewels on their wrists started to glow sending the ore into the air above
Precea.
Umi frowned at the display as she watched Hikaru attempt to untangle
herself from Dan. "I can never tell when he's kidding."

Precea started to do an intricate dance in the middle of the room, as
she became clothed in a thin veil of transparent silk. Dan's eyes about
bugged out of his head as he saw this and smiled watching transfixed.
Hikaru beat on the back of his head angrily trying to divert his
attention from the basically nude woman.
"Hey, this is nice. All I need is a beer and a couple of sweaty old guys
smoking cigarettes with dollar bills in their hands and it would be just
like home," Precea gave him a half smile diverting some of her attention
away for a second.
Suddenly there was a crash as the building shook. "That was an impact
tremor windbag," said Dan without taking his eyes away from Precea as she
worked. "You three go take care of that, I'll stay here and protect
Precea."
Hikaru snarled at him and pulled at his ear. "You're coming with us! She
needs more protection from you than any monster!"
"Ow! What the hell did I do?" retorted the boy angrily as the other two
magic knights followed behind them in silence.
"I swear, those two have no shame," sighed Umi.
"Miss Umi, is it just me or is Hikaru acting different?" asked Fuu.
"She's just jealous cause her would be boyfriend is putting the moves on
Precea," snapped the girl angrily. "This isn't the time for this! Precea!
Finish the weapons for us!"
The woman stared at the scene in shock and nodded numbly as they ran
outside to investigate the noise.

The group rushed out of the building and stared as a huge caterpillar
loomed over the wall growling at them angrily. The girls cried out in
shock and Dan merely stared at it in wonder.
"Wow! That's the biggest Caterpie I've ever seen!" he pulled one of the
balls off of his belt and smiled wickedly, but the girls rushed forward
and he paused. "Wait a minute, if Xellos magically enhanced this thing
again, one of the girls could be killed!" He lifted his hands up and shot
a small bolt of energy into the monster's hide testing its strength. The
creature grew a little and nothing happened. He frowned and looked over
at them as they battled the creature. Each girl used her magical attack
and it didn't phase the monster one bit, it simply grew larger and its
wounds healed almost instantly. Swords were met with about the same
success. The creature started to spit acid and Dan frowned as it grew
more and more with each attack. Finally it sprouted wings and roared at
the magic knights.
Dan frowned as the girls continued their fruitless attacks. The creature
had grown immune to the spells already, but was basically ignoring the
girls and heading straight towards the building, straight towards him.
"Pikachu! I choose you!" cried the boy as he lobbed the ball forward. The
caterpillar creature looked down at the small yellow mouse and blinked.

In the forest Askot smiled to himself as he watched the battle. "Fools
don't they know they don't stand a chance against Adalante?"
"I wouldn't be so sure," said another voice.
The boy turned to see Xellos standing behind him with a smirk on his
face. "What do you want?"
"You're making the same mistake Alcione did boy. Don't underestimate
those knights," warned the man cheerfully before he vanished.
"Bah, what does he know? I'm gonna take a nap" he jumped down from his
floating pedestal and lay against a tree trunk.

"Chuuuuu!" cried the Pokemon angrily as it charged the energy from its
cheeks and grinned.
"Thundershock now!" cried Dan and the Pikachu complied sending a huge
bolt of energy into the monster's hide sending it down to the ground with
a loud thud. Dan smirked as he pulled another ball from his belt. "I've
got you!" he screamed as the creature was pulled into the pokeball. "I
don't really need a Butterfree. Oh, well."
The girls watched the scene in shocked wonder and Fuu shuddered. The
yellow mouse like creature looked at her just before it vanished into the
ball again. "Mr. Dan, what was that?" she asked.
"That was an evil more potent than the Giga slave," said the boy sagely,
"but it doesn't cause as much damage, so it's ok."
Hikaru found her lunch rushing up to her throat and had to cover her
mouth at the horror of the scene.
Dan smirked and lit a cigarette as he walked back into the building.
"Hey, I hope she isn't done yet, that was quite a show." He got an evil
lecherous grin on his face as he skipped back into the building.
"I don't think he's all there," said Umi with a small frown.
"Well, there's no point in worrying about it now," replied Fuu as she
followed him, the other two girls were right behind her.

Precea smiled as she presented them with the weapons in their finished
state. "There, all finished." The three girls received their respective
swords and they vanished into the jewels on their wrist while Dan looked
at his own weapon with a huge grin on his face. He was holding a Katana,
with a ten-foot long blade on it, cheerfully swinging it through the air.

"I knew Carrot wasn't dumb enough to pull that crap twice!"
"Now, let's get some rest, you've all got a long day ahead of you!" said
the woman with a smile. She looked tired and was still dressed in the
silk garments; the fact that she was sweating didn't help Dan much.

"Adalante!" cried Askot as he wandered around looking for his pet. He
was still in the forest and wandering freely.
A white clad figure appeared behind him. "Your pet will not answer,"
said Inova calmly.
"No way! Adalante always does what I say!" cried the boy angrily.
Inova simply stared forward not bothering to turn around. He was thrown
into a nearby tree by a blast of energy from the shadows as Xellos
appeared again.
"Oops, Sorry Inova-chan. I was trying to kill this really annoying bug
that's been flying around," he walked over to Askot and smirked. "I
warned you boy."
"Why? What happened to Adalante?" snapped the child indignantly.
Xellos frowned and shocked him with a small electric blast. "I won't let
Inova talk to me that way, so don't think you're special kid." He smiled
and helped him up. "Your beast serves a new master now, the male magic
knight has control of him now."
"What? That's impossible!" screamed the boy angrily. "Adalante only
listens to me!"
"Not anymore, Dan is a very powerful mage boy, he can easily control
your beast. He is a summoner as well," replied Xellos. It was pretty
close to the truth, and he really didn't want to explain Pokemon to these
people. He frowned as a blade jut out from his chest and looked down in
surprise.
"I have you!" snarled Inova with a look of rage on his face; he had
stabbed Xellos from behind. It turned to shocked horror as he was
electrocuted and thrown back into the woods again.
"That wasn't very nice," replied the mage as he looked at him with a
slight glow to his eyes. He pulled the sword out and frowned as he tossed
it away. "I would think you smarter than that Inova." The mage turned
away and walked into the woods calmly.
"What is he?" snarled the man as he found the strength to rise again.
Askot had a look of complete terror in his eyes as he saw this happen.
"That guy can't be human!" gasped the boy.
"Yes, but what is he?" asked the elfin man.

The girls hugged Precea as they prepared to embark on the journey again
the next day. Dan was unusually peppy and cheerful often gazing into the
sun with a smirk on his face while he waited patiently a few yards away.
Precea kept giving him nervous glances and although she looked very tired
and a little disheveled she was cheerful as well.
"Goodbye magic knights, I wish you the best of luck," said the woman as
she stepped back away from them.
"Maybe we'll stop by if we have to pass through again," said Dan
confidently as he turned away and started down the path.
Precea smiled slightly and blushed earning a few confused looks from the
girls. "Yes, you're always welcome."
Fuu wasn't sure if she was talking to them or just him. She pulled
Hikaru away from the scene before she had time to figure out exactly what
the woman was talking about. Luckily Umi seemed just as clueless.
"Well, we're off!" cried Hikaru as she jogged away.

	TBC...

Oops, Dan accidentally saved someone. Damn, that puts Askot's little
roster with one failure. Next time The group moves into the desert, only
to find Ferio yet again and a mysterious temple that not even Xellos
recognizes. Plus Askot is really interested in rescuing his friend from
Dan's evil clutches.
