Ahem, I've received several E-mails on this subject and thought I'd post
a responce to help some people out. I guess I didn't go into it very much
in the fic itself. Nor did I intend to because it's supposed to be short.
First off, this is a test for me personally just to exorsize my brain a
bit. I wanted to take a fomulated Ranma 1/2 fanfiction that has been done
many times, and try to make it good. I think I succeded pretty well. It
won't win any awards or anything but it's still a good read IMHO. Just to
set the record straight, it was -intended- to be a somewhat Generic fic.
First off Dan is not Spider-man, he can shift his center of gravity and
basically make himself fall in any direction. He isn't sticking to walls
with magic or anything, and it's no more ludicrous than any of the other
techniques in the Ranma 1/2 world in how it works. [Hiryu Shouten Ha
anyone?] When he's walking along the ceiling or jumping at impossible
angles that even Ranma can't even match, that's why. He's not really
jumping, he's falling in a different direction. This is also why I don't
have him flying around like Goku or anything, because he can't control a
fall enough to do something like that.
I don't buy the explination that it's how Ranma and the crew can jump
either, they are just well trained and strong enough to get that amount
of height in their jumps. Only Dan has the power in this fic.
I also got a couple of complaints in how the extra gravity wouldn't
change Ryoga's Shi shi houkou dan. Well, first off it's heavy Ki, and it
does fall that way, that's how the perfect Shi shi houkou dan works. I
recall someone calling it an electro magnetic spectrum and Radiation. It
isn't either, it's ki scientific rules don't exactly apply here.
Seconldy Dan didn't just make the area around Ryoga heavier either, he
doesn't actually control gravity. He actually disrupted his ki making him
heavier than he really was. [Basically he used it to fool his body into
thinking there was a lot of extra weight on it.] It affected not only his
body but his Ki as well since that was what was disrupted in the first
place. It's no more rediculous than any of the normal casts moves.
Besides, We all knew Akane didn't have much of a chance in the first
place. I mean come on he took out Mousse and Shampoo with no real
problem.
The question here is can Ranma beat him? It's possible for the boy to
lose, after all he might learn something if he does. [Yea, right.]
Besides, Dan isn't exactly planing on making Nerima his permanent
residence either, even if he wins he'll just leave to continue his
training.
I don't want to start a discussion about powers and what and how the
attacks work in the Ranmaverse either. After all that isn't what the list
is for, I just wanted to answer a few questions anyone might have. Please
don't spam the list, and if you must continue this. Reply privately.
