Hi everyone! Here's a songfic by the Kingkiller based on his
ranma alternative universe "Into the Shadows," where Ranma

Anyways, enjoy, and the song is Disney's Little Mermaids
part of that world. (We both think that's the title...)
C and c to lynch@surfshop.net.ph ok? ^_^
Disclaimer: (The song ain't ours, it belongs to that company
with the mouse that has these HUGE ears and that noisy duck.
Ranma ain't our either, last we checked, Rumiko Takashi
owned it. In other words, we just borrowed them, not
steal.... borrow!!! So don't sue.. pretty please? )

Part of Your World
An Into the Shadows songfic By the KingKiller
[Ranma stands at the foot of a mansion's staircase. His back
is to us. He's dressed in a very formal and expensive white
suit. He holds a black umbrella with which he swings around
the room, casually pointing out the rich
splendor surrounding him as he turns to us.]
"Look at this stuff. Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?"
"Wouldn't you think that I'm a guy.
A guy who has, everything!"
[Ranma walks up the staircase, entering a grand bedroom
which is bigger than most apartments in Tokyo and has a
gigantic king-sized bed. The bed clearly is occupied by a
very female sleeper who is underneath the sheets.
Her identity is unclear.]
"I've gadgets and gizmo's aplenty."
[Ranma silently walks towards a secret door in the bedroom.
It opens as he removes the painting "Bread" and twists the
hook to one side. He quietly puts everything back in order
and enters a room filled to the brim with gadgets ranging
from a simple flashlight, to a complex giant screened
supercomputer monitoring several different government agency
computers illegally.]
"Bullets and ammo galore."
[Ranma walks past all this to punch a code in a security
panel. Reinforced blast doors open and he step in a room
filled with enough weapons, armaments, and tools of violence
to get a small country armed for war, or
get him ready for a night on the town. He looks about, makes
a careful selection and heads to another part of the room.]
"Want a million yen in a box?
I can loan you twenty!"
[Ranma kneels down to open a safe. It clicks open as he
turns the dial and he removes a box inside the safe. The box
turns out to be full of money. Ranma casually pockets a
small stack and an envelope before he puts everything back
inside.]
"But who cares?
[Ranma shows up at ritzy restaurant. The maitred instantly
lets him in and seats him at his preferred table. One facing
the door and backed against a wall.]
"No big deal."
[After ordering a cup of coffee, Ranma sees another figure
at the door. He watches for the right cues. Satisfied, he
leaves the envelope on his seat and leaves. Not bothering to
drink the coffee. The figure eyes him warily, afraid, but
does nothing as he heads for the same table Ranma sat in.]
"I want.....more!"
[Ranma casually pays the maitred for his coffee, the amount
he gives is clearly too much but he doesn't care. He ignores
the fawning and leaves.]
"I want to go, where those children go."
[He passes by several kids going to a local festival. He
slows down and watches them for a while before shaking his
head and walking away, the festival being held in a rival
society's territory, his presence without a
purpose or permission might be seen as hostile.]
"Out in the streets laughing and dancing...."
[Ranma watches the festivities from what he judges is a safe
vantage point. The rooftops wasn't his normal route, took it
only to familiarize himself with it and use it in important
occasions but tonight, tonight he just wanted to be
carefree. To be a child, even if it was vicariously. Just
for one night.]
"I want to know, what these children know."
[Ranma sticks to the shadows but pays close attention to the
people on the streets. The laughter and good cheer makes him
feel hollow inside. He sees children running to and fro,
playing and having a good time. He also sees
their parents and he tries to keep his mind away from his
suffering spirit by matching the children with their
parents. This doesn't work and he turns away.]
"What's it like to sleep so easy."
[Instantly Ranma has spotted several spots that would be
perfect for an ambush. By the cherry tree. Near the old
shop. Next to that house. He files them all in his mind and
looks around again to make sure he doesn't miss any possible
sniper's perch or the harder to spot booby traps. He
realizes
he was already planning an all out assault and forces
himself to stop. He didn't want to think about fighting.]
"And what does it mean to be, what's the word?....naive!"
[Ranma closes his eyes and recounts the things he has done.
He shakes slightly. He opens them quickly by instinct and
spots some rivals of his society and drops into a crouch,
his face grim. They were little more than
glorified thugs in his opinion but there was a peace. He
wouldn't dishonor his Boss by breaking it. He was about to
leave when one of the thugs snatched a stick of cotton candy
out of a kid's hands. The kid's cries made the thugs laugh
and they left the kid in tears. Ranma hefted his umbrella.]
"Not on the run! Not having to hide! To be safe to walk out
in the sun!
[Ranma cautiously walks the streets, trying to see
everywhere at once while praying that no one would see him,
or saw what he did to the thugs when
they passed near a dark part of the festival ground. Six
months and they should be good as new.]
"Wish I could be...."
[Ranma hands the cotton candy back to the kid. The kid
smiles at him and hugs him, making Ranma distinctly
uncomfortable for some reason. The boy
perks up as someone, most likely his mother calls his name
and runs off, slowing only to turn and wave good-bye to the
nice man.]
"Wish I could be...part of, that....world...."
[Ranma waves goodbye sadly.....]
Fade just as the dawn light turns everything white.
