But yeah, I can understand the author continuing with a fun joke over a
piece of the series he hasn't seen. I just pointed it out so he can some
ammo ready to defend himself against this critcism in the future. :P
No she wasn't. Lina was not willing to teach Amelia the Dragon Slave
because
she believed that Amelia would be even more irresponsible than Lina in
using
it. (And might very well use it on Lina someday) By the end of the
story, she'd
convinced Amelia to stick to the white stuff. (There's a title for a
Slayers
fanfic: "The White Stuff")
Although she did start to teach Amelia the spell IIRC, they just got
sidetracked by fighting ghosts.
Actually Lina had no intention at anytime to teach Amelia the Dragu Slave.
The *jobs* Amelia was given were meant to dissuade her from wanting
to learn the spell. Let's be realistic here what does pulling a wagon filled
with rocks have to do with magic anyways. I'm refering of course to one
of the tasks that Lina assigns her. Oh and remember that Lina imagined
what Amelia might do with such a spell and that alone insured that she
would make no attempt to actually teach her the spell. Besides if you think
Lina's bad I can guarantee that Amelia would be a hundred times worse.
Amelia: Drop that coin you purveyor of injustice!

Amelia: LIAR!! Dragu Slave!!
Perhaps I'm exaggerating but to Lina's mind that's what she pictured.
Mind you I'm doing this from memory so the scene may have been
slightly different but I'm pretty sure that the basics are about the same.
Hmm...On a completky different tangent I wonder if Naga ever wanted to be
taught the Dragon Slave. I can be sure Lina would never want to teach her
that spell, but I'm sure Naga would want to learn it.
Now that I really don't know.
Aw heck, let Lina have a little more depth. It won't hurt anything.

And it would fit, given what she went through at the end of Next...
