Since this was public C&C I figured I'd chime in with a public response.

my physics sucks. but i think the FAQ specifically bans
physics discussions. if i recall correctly, it also says
to direct physics queries to Gary Kleppe. heeeeelp!!!>
For the coin to stay a float the characters would have to be dropping
(accelerating) at the same rate as gravity. This would mean that they
would be falling at 10 m/s^2. Unfortunately this would also mean that
the people in the elevator would be weightless as well (freefall).
That doesn't take away from the fact that the scene is still extremely
neat and gets the point across regarding how big the Geofront is and how
fast that damn elevator's going.
