Hi!

I can't say if you made Ranma "more intelligent" or not. However, he
didn't do what you said he would. The only time he acts "crazy" is in
putting his clothes on strangely and the bits about needing new parents.

Here's what you said he'd do:

1: Nabiki. You said that he'd show no respect for possessions and that
he'd embarrass himself before she could. Instead, you have him giving her a
very reasoned monolog of the way she's treated him.

2: Genma. You said that Ranma would treat him as a stranger, and not let
him goad Ranma into fights. Yet later, he calls Genma "Pop", and the first
thing he does when Genma wakes him up is beat Genma up. Also, the concept
has one flaw to begin with; if Ranma didn't fight strangers, none of his
adventures would ever happen!

3: Soun. You said that Ranma would treat him like he was a child. Ranma
never does this. He speaks to Soun at all times like an adult. I was
expecting Ranma to call him "Soun-chan", and the first time Soun started
crying, to pat him on the back and promise to buy ice cream to cheer him up.

4: Kasumi. You said that Ranma would play her off against Tofu (although
how that's supposed to help, I can't imagine), and that he'd try to make her
question her role in the house. These ideas are too rational to convince
her that Ranma is crazy. She'd see right through them.

and
5: The fiancees. You said that Ranma would accept them all as
individuals, yet reject them all as a group. Except for the kiss with
Shampoo (which was underplayed, BTW. It would have been funnier if that had
happened in front of the other girls.) he doesn't do that. He should have
begun with this ploy first thing in the morning, with Akane; instead, he
goes into a diatribe about Soun selling off his daughters.

I like the concept, but you really should consider rewriting it to make
Ranma follow up on his plans; most of the time he's acting far too
rationally when he speaks to the others. The tone of the story is too
serious when he's talking, and it shouldn't be. This fic could be an
excellent vehicle for rampant silliness!

    Ja mata,
    LarryF
