LAST GAMBLE
A Ranma 1/2 Fanfic by Jan Story
NOTES:
I have no idea where this one came from. I just got this picture in my
head, of Akane rescuing Ranma from Genma's attempt to take him away.
Wondering why he'd do such a thing, I ended up with the idea that it was a
put-up job. It's probably too sympathetic to Genma; I think he's a prize
lout and Soun is little better, but they never come off that way in my
stories.
I liked this presentation of Genma.
Everyone treats him so two-dimensionally that it is actually nice to see
him handled with some depth.
I personally liked the story... although Ranma and Akane were perhaps a bit
too insulting during the actual injury part and fell into each others arms
far too easily afterwards, it was an interesting perspective.
Akane getting in 2 successful hits even injured is pushing the credibility
level considering that Genma is used to fighting someone at Ranma's
caliber... but he *may* have been willing to easy on her. I doubt it
though. His whole point was to drive them apart as hard as possible to
force them to fight back. I don't think he would've shown much quarter at all.
As I think about it, I think Genma should have called her a tease or a
cock-tease (to be more vulgar) instead of a slut. More fitting for someone
who has the entire school chasing her.
Honestly though, I think Ranma and Akane wouldn't have put a fight right
away... but would've started to miss each other after a few days... then
fight to get back together... but that's my impression.
All told, I think it's a possible story outcome.
