Saiyan Good-byes
A fanfic by Liz Errico
Chapter 1
The king of Vejita-sei gazed idly over the palace grounds to the city
beyond. It had always amused him how out of place the flamboyant natural
beauty of the palace looked in the confines of the city. It most certainly
would have been different if he had been king when it was built. The capitol
city was a place of stone, brick, and steel. It did not welcome the presence
of living creatures, other then its own inhabitants. The king liked it that
way.
The echoing sound of foot steps resonated through the hall. Slowly, a
nervous messenger walked towards the King. He glanced about hastily,
searching for a possible escape. It was common knowledge that bothering the
king when he had not called for you could well prove to be fatal. Stopping,
he bowed down before the king.
"Your majesty, Vejita-sama, your son is here, as you requested. Shall I
send him in?"
King Vejita scowled. He had had other things on his mind, and forgotten
that he was to meet his son today. "Send the boy in. " Smiling wickedly, he
remembered a conversation from the night before. Perhaps this meeting would
prove to be enjoyable, after all.
************
Prince Vejita paced impatiently in tAtleasthe hall out side his father's
throne room. It was just like that baka to keep him waiting out here. His
father always took a special pleasure in making his angry. At least the
prince took the pleasure in knowing that one day the king would die, and he
could assume the throne.
The sound of his father's guard returning snapped the prince out of his
pleasant thoughts.
"Vejita-ouji, your father says that you are to enter. "
He crossed the thresh-hold into his father's dwarfing chamber. The
towering dome roof overhead amplified even the smallest whisper. His father
sat on an ornate throne which glittered in the sunlight that streamed in the
otherwise dark, shadowy room. Walking towards the raised platform in the
center of the room, the prince scowled. The entire room had been designed
to give the king an air of superiority, and also to hide the fact that even
most children were taller then his majesty. Vejita-ouji scowled. When he
became king, this frivolity would end. After all, he may be shorter then
most sayai-jins, but not one was stronger. Besides, this kind of thing was
exactly what had made his father the soft fool he was. That would not
happen to him.
"Sit down."
The prince hesitated, then did as his father ordered. There was always a
slim chance that the king would announce the decision on his request today,
and just in case, Vejita-ouji wanted to humor the man as much as possible.
"Vejita-sama, what did you wish to speak to me about?"
"Your trainer, Altair, has reported to Commander Nappa that he can no
longer provide any sort of useful training for you. He believes that
alternate plans must be made."
"Hai, The training sessions with that old fool barely even last a few
seconds. I could beat him blind folded."
********
Vejita-sama glared at his son for a moment. The little brat had just
insulted one of his top warriors. If Altair was not such an idiot, the king
might have been tempted to defend him. That really didn't matter. The fact
was the prince was defiantly over stepping his bounds here. The king smiled.
The brat would get what he deserved.
"So you think that Altair is no longer qualified you teach you, the great
Vejita-ouji, despite the fact he is one of the most experienced warriors, and
the fourth strongest on the planet"
"Humph. I am the -strongest- on the planet. There is no sayain alive
qualified to teach me. Besides, it is time I am allowed to go off planet. "
The king stared at the boy intently. This was the moment he had been
waiting for. The prince had been requesting an assignment off planet for
months now. And his words held some truth, there truly was nothing more the
trainers of the saiya-jin could teach him. That did not mean, how ever, that
he would allow a vain, over confident fool like his son take any part in
saiya-jin military operations. True the boy may be strong, but he knew
nothing of fighting real battles. He had never even seen anyone beside the
palace guards fight. He turned towards the prince, a rather wicked smile
forming on his face.
"Hai, boy, I agree. I have just the place to send you."
************
Far away from the planet of Vejita-sei, another king sat in another
thrown room. In the dim lighting, an alien profile could vaguely be made out.
The king sat contentedly on his throne, looking out in to the dark night.
His gaze never wavered, remaining steady on one sector of the sky. An
expression of mild surprise appeared on his face as guard appeared next to
him.
"Freeza-sama, these papers have just arrived. It seems the king of
Vejita-sei has agreed to every thing, including the issue involving his son."
A sly smile crept on to the king's face. " Very good. Those fools have
put themselves right where I want them. "

Wow, I got this chapter out pretty quick. I think it turned out well. I am
hoping to get this story hosted some where, and when I do I will post the
URL. If any one wants to read the prologue to this, email me.
This story does not occur in the main stream Dragonball Universe. It's my
