And now, for insanity only hinted at in the past...

Wait, I'm still just hinting. Oh well, the story is currently being
written, but it's coming along awfully slow. Here's hoping this keeps
youse mugs at bay.

--- Teaser, 1/13/00
I glared at him over the short table with the sounds of pencil scraping
it's flesh off on paper. Asuka continued signing her name away as my
eyes pressed against his, laser beams of pure hatred shooting off of
each of us, trying to stun the other into submission. He was
considering something, I could tell. After a moment, he spoke, this
time only inches from my face.

"If she gets in, you all gotta sign up." I could smell the whiskey on
the man's breath and bit back a wave of nauseua. This deal was as
crooked as it got.

"No problem." Maybe I could get a piece of him.

"WHAT?!" A true shame Shinji wasn't so receptive, ruining the moment
with his voice raised in surprise.

"C'mon Shinji, what's the worst that could happen?" I looked him right
in the eye. 'Trust me.' I imagined myself saying. What's the worst that
could happen? The worst was pretty bad in my mind, he seemed to see
right through me.

"Just this once, give me a straight answer, Hikaru. Are you really that
insane?"

I bent over the table and scrawled my name 'Hikaru Gosunkugi' in my
wobbly script. I wasn't really paying attention to the name, instead
watching the tendons slither over the bones on the back of my hand, the
cuts and abrasions on my sking like pockmarks on wet earth from a
bombing run. I could almost feel the after-impact tingle, the moment of
truth when my knuckles met our sour escort's chin with enough force to
shatter bone and render skin and muscle a soup of pain and rotting
matter.

Waiting. Scratch. Scratch. Dot the i's. Hikaru Gosunkugi.

"Yes, very crazy. Now put your John Hancock down."

'Shinji Ikari' he signed without further complaint.

Asuka looked at the two of us.

"Welcome to hell."

I knew I shouldn't have come.

- End.

Rick Spiff,
The thrid rule is only two cases of Mt. Dew a week.
