Disclaimer: You all think these are original
characters, don't you. You think I just made then all
up because I'm just that creative. Well you're wrong.
Slayers is copyrighted by a few people and companies
who I can't remember the names of right now but will
list when I release the final draft (and bother to
look them up).
On the other hand, Magus and any other original
characters here are the creation of myself and my
friends and I would like to be at least asked if
someone else wants to use them.
C&C is encouraged and appreciated. Why do you think
I'm posting here in the first place? General stuff can
go to the list, but spelling and dramatically errors
should go directly to me, I don't think everyone wants
to read that kind of stuff. If you want to flame me go
right ahead, but please mark it in the subject so I
can delete it at my leasure.
Oh, and I need pre-readers for this. If anyone is
interested please e-mail me.
Prologue
"Sword! Accept this darkness and obey my command!"
The swirling darkness began to take shape around the
sword, forming into a blade 10 feet long and as black
as pitch. Zelgadis could only stare in amazement. To
call upon the Lord of Nightmares like that. It was
suicide. And yet, it was their only hope.
"Rezo, Priest of Red. Now you must chose. Will you
let your soul be consumed by Shabranigdo, or will you
take your vengeance upon him." The way Lina spoke was
impressive. To stand up to a Dark Lord like that, and
expect to win. That had to take some serious courage.
'Or,' Zelgadis though glancing over at Gourry, 'some
serious stupidity.'
"You... you pathetic... fool!" Ruby Eye managed to
stutter out as a circle of dark energy formed around
him and Lina. The Dark Lord sounded almost scared;
Lina must be doing something right.
Seeing Shabranigdo waver like that renewed Lina's
confidence. They had a chance, Ruby Eye was afraid of
what they were doing. It could work. It had too.
"We're about to see who the fool is here." A smile
creased Lina's lips as she made the final preparations
for the spell. With a yell of 'Giga Slave' Lina
expended the last of her energy to hurl the darkness
at Ruby Eye.
Shabranigdo smiled as only a Mazoku could. It was
doomed to fail. Even with the power of the Lord of
Nightmares they didn't stand a chance. Of course he
couldn't take that kind of a hit, no one could. To
come into contact with the Lord of Nightmares was to
be utterly destroyed, consumed by the darkness.
However, that didn't mean he couldn't deflect it. With
a thought he began to turn the power of the spell back
on its caster. She would pay for here impudence. Her
death would be slow and painful, she would soon learn
the true meaning of the word suffer. "Fool," Ruby eye
said with a smile "you will now die by your own hands.
Did you really think you could defeat me?"
Lina's felt her body on fire. Every nerve was sending
her messages of the worst kind of pain. She fell to
the ground and assumed the fetal position, trying
desperately to shield herself from the agony. 'No, she
thought, it can't be. I can't lose, I won't lose...'
"Too bad little girl, you have no idea what you're
facing. You can't kill me anymore than you could have
helped your sister." The Dark Lord laughed. "In a way
I have you to thank for that. You and your friends
little 'summoning' spell showed me everything I needed
to know. Thanks to you, killing her was child's play.
Now I send you to join her..."
There was a blinding white flash as a wave of pure
energy disrupted the dark lord's concentration. Rezo
stood beside the two combatants, hand outstretched at
Ruby Eye, his aura glowing the purest of whites. "No."
He said calmly, "It is you who will be destroyed."
Ruby Eye felt his control beginning to slip, his
concentration being fully taken up by Rezo. The
spell's energy was now trapped between himself and
Lina. The darkness began to rise into the sky, forming
a pillar of blackness ready to engulf the one who lost
the battle of wills.
"Don't interfere!" The Dark Lord yelled. The
Red Priest continued to attack his thoughts, eroding
away further at his control. "No," Rezo stated calmly,
"You will be destroyed after all."
"DON'T INTERFERE!!!" Shabranigdo yelled, his voice
desperate. Rezo merely smiled at as the Dark Lord's
control finally failed him.
With the counter spell gone, the energy of the Giga
Slave turned back on his original target. Ruby Eye
would have screamed if he hadn't already lost control
of his voice. The Red Priest simply smiled as the Lord
of Nightmares sent his subordinate back into the realm
of nothingness. Reaching down, Rezo placed his hand on
Lina's crumpled form, causing them both to disappear
in a flash of light.
With that the world exploded.
---------------
Pain.
The first thing Zelgadis felt when he came to was
pain.
That was not entirely unexpected, given the fact that
he had just been near the center of a shock wave big
enough to level a good size city. For once Zelgadis
was actually grateful for his chimerical form. Without
it he would probably be dead.
That was assuming he wasn't already. If the Giga
Slave didn't work, if Shabranigdo was still alive, he
would be wishing he was dead in a moment. Zelgadis
quickly went back over his memories. He knew that Lina
had cast the Giga Slave and that Ruby Eye had been
deflecting it between the two. There was some other
figure of to the side. After that there was an
explosion and then... and then he must have blacked
out. Not surprising given the circumstance. The last
thing he could remember was the spell's energy forming
a pillar
With his thoughts in order Zelgadis lifted his head
to survey the world around him. There was very little
left of the original landscape. Saying it had been
devastated just didn't do it justice. More like
annihilated, completely and totally destroyed, smashed
beyond all possible recognition, all rolled up into
one and taken to the 100th power. It was as if every
mage in the world had cast Dragon Slave
simultaneously, and this had been the target area. It
looked like ground zero of an Atomic Blast sight.
Maybe that was because in a way it had been.
Zelgadis forced himself to get up despite the pain.
Staying here would do him no good. What he needed was
a hot meal, a good nights sleep, and maybe a bath.
'Defiantly a bath' He corrected himself
A series of sharp pains encouraged the chimera to
survey his injuries. Thankfully, he found nothing
broken, a minor miracle in and of itself given what he
had been through.
Now all he had to do was find his friends. Gourry was
right next to him when the shock wave hit, so he
should be somewhere nearby. In fact, given the
desolate condition of the landscape, he should be able
to pick him from a mile away. Looking around revealed
nothing, absolutely nothing. Hours of searching
produced the same lack of results. All he found was
rock, rock and more rock. There was no trace of
Shabranigdo or any of his friends, in fact it looked
as if he was the only living creature for miles
around.
A glance at the darkening sky, this time a natural
phenomenon due to the sun setting as opposed to over
exposure to black magic, convinced Zelgadis that it
was time to give up. He reasoned that Lina and Gourry
had probably left before he woke up. In fact, they
might be waiting for him back at the inn. At any rate,
getting back to town seemed like a very good idea. If
only he could remember which way it was...
------
Light.
The first thing Lina noticed when she came to was the
light.
In fact, there wasn't much else to notice where she
was. All around her was the purest of white light she
had ever seen. She was lying on what felt like stone
only it shone just a brightly as the rest of the room,
if you could call it a room. It only took her a few
seconds to make the obvious assumption.
"I'm dead." She stated.
"Not quite."
The voice scared Lina half to death. She had thought
she was alone, in fact when she had looked around
before, she had been alone. However, standing over her
was...
"Rezo, is that you?" She asked the figure, her eyes
still weren't adjusted to the light yet and her
headache wasn't helping things any.
"In a form," The Red Priest responded.
"So if I'm not dead, why am I here?" Lina asked,
searching to Rezo's face for clues, without much
success. She tried to think back on what happened.
'Hmm, lets see. I was fighting Shabranigdo and we were
out of options, I cast Giga Slave and then... then...
what happened after that.'
"He almost killed you." Rezo stated calmly
"So it didn't work, we lost."
"No, I did say almost didn't I. He turned the power
of your spell back on itself. You would be dead now,
if he hadn't wanted to give you a slow death."
"But, what happened, why..."
"I stopped him. The Giga Slave consumed him as you
intended."
Images flooded back to Lina's head. The Giga Slave,
the Lord of Nightmares, Shabranigdo mocking her, the
pain, her sister... 'Wait a minute.' Lina thought 'my
sister, but she's dead.' Her face-hardened
'Shabranigdo killed her.'
"No," Rezo again interrupted his thoughts. "He
didn't, one of his agents did."
"Who?" Lina asked, her face promising vengeance.
An image of a <insert description here> appeared
before Lina. "His name is Magus. He is the former
leader of the Knights Dragoon, a small army of elite
whose stronghold, Galav occupied -insert name here-
peak. The were wiped out 40 years ago in the siege of
Galav. Or at least, they were thought to have been.
Apparently there were about a dozen survivors. They
renamed themselves the Silver Elite and hired
themselves out to the highest bidder. Apparently, Ruby
Eye was hiring."
"Where is he now."
"I don't know. Not even Shabranigdo knew. They had a
falling out a few years ago and Magus just
disappeared."
"What do you mean disappeared?"
"No one has seen or heard from him sense." The Red
Priest Smiled "At least no one Shabranigdo knew
about."
"And you know otherwise?"
"In my travels I meet some interesting people. One of
them talked of a <insert appropriate agative> living
in the <suitably mystical place>."
"And you think he's still there?"
"One can not be certain but I believe it to be so."
"How do I get there... Just where am I anyway."
"You are within your own mind, your body is currently
unconscious. When Shabranigdo was destroyed a great
amount of energy was released. The shock wave would
have killed you if the explosion itself didn't. I was
forced to throw you into a alternate dimension to save
your life."
"How can I get home?"
"You have a friend here who found himself in your
dimension once. Perhaps he can help you get you home
again. In any case I must be going."
"Why are you doing this, why are you helping me?"
"Because I owe you, you saved me from a fate worse
than death. Not only did you save me from Shabranigdo,
you saved me from myself."
"Rezo... Thank you, for everything."
"It's the least I can do. I'll leave you to find your
friend now, a simple scrying spell should do. We'll
meet again..."
With that the Red Priest disappeared, and Lina woke
up.
----------
I do have a description for Magus that I'm working on,
but want to clear it with my friend (Magus's creater)
first. If you have any sugestions for the name of the
peak or a <sutibly mystical place> I would be happy to
hear them. Otherwise I'll just make something up.
Yes, this will be a Ranma crossover. Which Universe do
you think she got thrown into anyway. All will be
explained in chapter 1 (well, at least more than I did
here.)
