Hi. I'm back. Second fic alert. Written in 2 hours since I rejoiced in your
previous comments about The Art of War. I have no knowledge of Sailor
Moon, but then again, it's not important here.
+ In norse mythology, Tyr is the God of War and is fated to fight Hel's
hounds at Ragnarock.
+ Problem of time travel on human evolution blatantly stolen from Isaac
Asimov's "The End of Eternity".
+ Guest appearance by K. Von Clausewitz ("On War").

A Sailor Moon fanfic
Saving Humanity
"The road to Hell is paved of good intentions."
As they saw the man approach, the two guards suddenly rectified their
postures. After all, not everyone is invited by the Queen. The man was tall,
dressed in standard kung-fu clothes, except that they were completely white,
which changed them from the black they always saw around. The man had short
blond hair, piercing blue eyes, and a certain angelic appearance, not really
what their job made them expect. As he was near them, one of the guard
called :
"Halt. Who goes there ?"
"I'm Tyr. I believe the Queen is expecting me." the man softly replied.
As soon as the doors were opened, the man went inside. He rapidly discerned
a beautiful woman sitting in the throne at the other side of the hall. She
had a kind of dark and mysterious aura that made her all the more
attractive, in an unconventionnal sort of way. The woman smiled gently at
him and said:
"Well met my Hero. I had been expecting for quite some time now. I know you
do not like to be disturbed from your quests, but there is a grave matter
that you must be informed of. And then, you will understand why I had to
call for your help."
"Defending the orphan and the widow is one of mine goals, for I am a Hero.
Therefore, I have to thank Thee, O Queen, for providing my humble self a way
to serve." answered Tyr with a straight face. "What wouldst Thou have me do
?"
"My Hero, I do believe that not only the world is threatened, but also the
Human race."
"I had no heard such catastrophic news.Do tell, in what way are the mortals
threatened ?"
The Queen sighed and continued.
"As I speak, a band of destructive and powerfull warriors walk the earth
again. I defeated their kingdom, which was aimed at a total domination of
the worlds, in the past, but some warriors have found a way to survive, and
now they are back, and they threaten all the mortals. Because, you see, they
are intransigeant people who always think in absolutes, I guess you could
call them manicheans. Of course, they believe that they are the good guys,
but you know all the bad and dangerous people are like that."
Tyr laughed slighly. The Queen smiled:
"And of course, they do not accept any position that is not strictly
similar to theirs. They believe they hold the Truth, and that for the good
of all, they have to impose it. Well, all totalitarian regimes are like
that. Anyway, I recently heard from reliable sources, that they plan to
establish a kingdom on Earth, and to govern it from a single city. Another
sign of dictatorship. Of course, since they believe that they are the most
qualified, they will rule it, in fact they have already chosen their leader.
But what's more is that they plan on becoming immortal, so that they will
rule people -for their good of course- forever."
Tyr paled and exclaimed,
"That is terrible, but surely, you could see a way to defeat them in the
future."
"I'm afraid not, my Hero, for even if we could, they would go back in time
to prevent that from happening, for they can travel in time. And you know
the consequences of this. If Humanity does not face any challenges, does not
have new rulers, the race will stagnate. Surely, as the God of War, you are
aware of it's importance. "War is the continuation of politics by other
means", as one of those mortals once said (Von Clausewitz). Without war,
mankind would not have made striking breakthrough whether they be
scientific, medical, social and so on, that even if they were invented
during war time, made a huge difference in peace. And the continuous
research still goes on, because humans are conscious of this Damocles' sword
that war is. It could happen anytime, anywhere, if you don't prevent it. And
you do not prevent it by force, you prepare for it, so that is will not
happen. "Sid vis pacem, para bellum : if you want peace, prepare war." By
being always prepared, you have no fear."
Tyr nodded.
"And of course, as a consequence, if every challenge -such as offensive
actions originating from outside- that threatens Mankind is always taken
care of by the same group of warriors, always they will be prepared in case
trouble arrises. They will be the only ones who will stand a chance, for the
other, by this time, will be out of the game. And as you know, there is
always someone stronger. So, one day, whether it be near or not does not
matter -this day will surely come-, these warriors will met someone
stronger, and they will fail in the conflict. Then they will go back in
time, for it will be their last chance. And mankind will continue to
stagnate. People will lose their sense of identity since they will not be
essential to the race, even if they only participated a little before. And
as history has shown, a civilization that stagnates is doomed, and will
surely disappear. It is only a matter of time."
"I totally agree, something has to be done. But what ?" Tyr nodded.
"It's actually easy : without a leader, they are doomed. The remaining
warriors will be sufficient to protect the humans for the time being, but
they will lack the desire to build their kingdom. So we have to eliminate
her. Only this way will we contemplate the definitive end of Eternity and
the beginning of Infinity."
"I do not rejoice, but to Save Humanity, it must be done. As the God of
War, I give Thee my word. Who may I kill ?" asked a resolute Tyr.
"She calls herself Sailor Moon." responded the woman.
"Consider it done. Well met Queen Beryl." said Tyr before exiting the door.
The Queen sat silently in her throne watching him leave. Then she smirked:
"For the good of Humanity. Eh! What a fool...."
Before relaxing herself with a Maniacal Laugh �.
