"Thank you for coming by so quickly, Professor -"

"That's 'Washuu-chan,' please."

"... Of course, Washuu-chan." I tried to ignore the sweatdrop that I *knew*
was on the back of my head right now. "Thank you, in any case ... I
appreciate your coming over to help look at the situation. You've heard about
what happened?"

Wasyuu nodded, her crab hairdo bouncing up and down. "Yep. Nasty little chain
of events - but quite interesting, too. Human psychology was never one of my
specialties, but I've developed an interest over the years of dealing with
Tenchi and his Earth-born relatives."

I chuckled quietly. "It must be truly fascinating when you come to it with a
perspective like yours."

"Not really. Do you realize how *predictable* human behavior is?"

"I try not to." I grinned casually, adding another sweatdrop to my tally for
the day as I toed the power switch for my computer. "Do you want them on
disk, or hard copy?"

"Hard copy, please," Wasyuu said as she glanced over my system. "I don't have
anything low-tech enough to read a floppy disk, or even a CD-ROM."

Ouch. I know I need to upgrade, but .... ouch. "Okay, it'll just take a
moment ..." I started printing out the messages I'd gotten. "What else do I
need to tell you before you can diagnose the problem?"

"I'd be surprised if it's really a Y2K problem," the diminutive scientist
said as she waited for the first sheet to emerge from the printer. "Ah, let's
see here ... Hmmmmm." It took longer for my printer to finish the job than it
took Wasyuu to read through the messages.

"So what's the prognosis?"

"Well, things are already bouncing back to normal .... but overall, I'd have
to chalk up the problems on the FFML to one cause: some people's senses of
humor weren't Y2K-compatible."

(P.S. - Okay, so maybe it's not a great joke ... but I felt the situation
deserved something like this. ^_^; Happy New, everyone!)
