                                    Chapter 25: Another Plan.

I sat in my room and sighed as I looked around at the luxury at
which surrounded me. The oak walls with paintings hung upon them. The
well-carved book cases filled with books of ancient lore. The fireplace
made of silver, that did glistened in the night.
The silken carpets and the elegant vases upon that carpet. As well
as statues depicting any number of things.
And finally the bed. Silk covers, gold base, I was in the lap of
luxury. Everything in this room was worth a fortune, a bribe. A bribe
given to me by Mr. Maddocks. He did not want to lose me, I was a
valuable weapon. And I didn't mind one bit. Everyone uses everyone else,
that's what friendship is. That's what love is. That's what the world
revolves around, using people. Controlling people. Whoever controls the
people controls everything.
Sarah entered the room, closing the door behind her. She had not
bothered to knock, but I didn't care. So I welcomed her in, and directed
her to a large, padded chair near my bed. The chair was extremely
comfortable, at least by my standards. And it should suit her fine.
Once she had sat down, and was now in good light. I saw what she was
wearing. A white dress, with three layers. Flowing down her body,
showing her great beauty. On this dress she wore were golden broaches,
and golden buttons. She wore golden earrings and a golden necklace.
Along with golden bracelets and rings adorned with large, beautiful
jewels.
    "Hello."
I smiled, and nodded toward her in acknowledgment. "Hello to you to.
Enjoying your time here?"
"Can't say. We have only been here for a couple of hours. It seems
nice so far, but things can change so quickly."
"Therefore you should enjoy the quiet while you can. The calm before
the storm." Suddenly, two wine glasses appeared in my hand, through the
use of magic. "Would you like some wine?"
Sarah nodded and took the wine glass I had given her. She took a sip
and smiled at it. "What year is this?"
"1060. A good year from what I've heard."
And so the small talk ended there. We just sat and drank the wine,
enjoying the silence. For silence was always calming, even to the
darkest soul. I may now enjoy killing, but peace and quiet is almost as
good. And with a clean conscience, or lack there of, it was much easier
to enjoy everything.
Once we had finished or wine, I posed a question. "So what brings
you here?"
The wine glass vanished from Sarah's hand, wished away by her. "No
real reason. Just to see how you were doing. The people here aren't very
friendly, they're preoccupied with work. Never enjoying the finer things
in life."
Before I could respond, someone knocked on the door. And then came a
voice. "It's me, Matthew Maddocks. I'm here to introduce you to some of
my friends. They're very eggar to meet you."
    "Send them in."
So the door opened, and four people entered the room. First, Mr.
Maddocks entered. Second, was a woman who looked to be in her twenties
or early thirties. Third came a little boy. And fourth, came a little
girl, who quickly closed the door behind her.
Mr. Maddocks stood in front of the four people, who were all lined
up behind him. "These, Douglas, are four of the Seven Angels. The old
man is Despair. The young woman is Fear. The little boy is Spite. And
the little girl is Corruption."
I nodded slowly at that, acknowledging each of their existence. I
did not really care that they were here, just a nuisance. "And so where
is Plague?"
Mr. Maddocks smile faltered at that question, but he quickly
regained his smile and started talking. "We don't know. He seems to have
vanished. No one has seen him in a long time. He's either dead, or
hiding."
"I see. And is that the only reason you came here? To introduce me
to these four people? Or is there something else I should know about?"
No one seemed offended due to the cold, anger and mocking in my
voice. Instead they took it well, and Mr. Maddocks spoke. "No. That's
it. I just wanted to share everything I know with you. Build a trusting
friendship between us." He paused for a second, and then checked his
watch. "Oh, I'm sorry, I've got something to do now. If you'll please
excuse us."
And he left, taking the four Angels with him.
I sighed and looked over at Sarah who had not said anything during
the encounter. "He was lying."
    "What?"
"He was lying. And everything that he wasn't lying about was a half
truth. I could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. For one
thing, he knows something about Plague, the other Angel. And he had
another reason for visiting. But what?"
"I don't know. But maybe you should forget that for now."
"You're right. Maybe I should. So, what do you have planned for
tonight?"............
Mr. Maddocks was now a good distance away from my room, and now
decided to talk to the Angels. "How strong is he?"
Corruption shook her head and sighed. "He could easily take all five
of us."
    "What about Pandora's box?"
Spite now spoke up. "Who knows? It's more powerful then he is. But
it's nowhere near as flexible or useful or fast. The weapon was designed
to take out large groups. Armies and cities. It was not designed for use
on individuals. It's impossible to know how it would work on someone,
especially the Messiah."
"Then we have to wait. We'll let him take out all of our opponents.
And then we'll kill him. Quietly."...........
Lilith sat on top of a building, looking up at the red skies and the
blacked out sun. The wind blew, causing her hair and dress to ripple
unusually.
The smell of fire and death rose up to her nostrils as her eyes soon
moved to the landscape. The ruined buildings going up and down,
separated by the broken streets. No bodies lay amongst all the wreckage,
they were all totally incinerated, and their ashes scattered with the
wind.
Over two billion people had died due to just two of the Angels. But
before they did more damage, they were stopped by Douglas, the Messiah,
the savior of mankind. But now he had lost his soul, and now the fate of
everything was uncertain. The future was surrounded by clouds of
darkness which blinded ones eyes and prevented a clear picture of what
is to come.
"He can still return. He has not reached the deepest bowels of the
darkness yet."
Lilith looked behind her to see a man she didn't want to see. A man
dressed in black with dark black hair and red eyes. A man with bat-like
wings. "I don't want to talk to you Plague. Just go away, least I send
you to hell!"
Plague shook his head. "I'm no longer known as Plague. I am Guni. I
no longer am God's dog, doing his bidding. He was going to throw the
Seven Angels away once he was finished with us. And that's why we left,
not to be used."
Lilith turned her gaze back to the blackened sun. "I don't want to
hear your life story. I just want you to go away and never to bother me
ever again. Go slither back under that rock from which you came."
"Ouch! That was cold. Comparing me to a snake and all. I've never
heard worse." The sarcasm was very heavy in his voice after that phrase.
"But I'm not here to bother you. I'm here to help you get the Messiah's
soul back."
    "Why?"
"Because it benefits me to see the church suffer. Just because I no
longer work for God, it doesn't mean that I'm not in the battle."
"And why should I do something that benefits you?"
"Because it benefits you also. Or do you want to stay sitting on
this building forever?"
Lilith paused to think for a second, and then answered. "Tell me
what you have in mind."
"Douglas has escaped, found a way out. He was under so much pressure
because of you, and everyone else. Everything was pushing down on him,
past and present and whatever future presented to him. And then when he
killed the two Angels, well he couldn't take life anymore. So he wanted
an escape, a way to make the pain go away. Therefore he sold out his
soul, his conscience, all that caused him pain. And now he is as we see
him."
"I know that much. Just tell me what you have planned."
"Well. We need to get his soul back. But to do that, we have to
convince him that he should have his soul. Only then can he recover it
from the deepest bowels of his mind."
    "How do we do that?"
"That's why I need to talk to you. I don't have any ideas. You know
him better then I do. I personally can't decide on any reason to have a
soul."
And so they started to plan.......
