Chapter 24: An alliance.
The whole room had fallen into silence when I had said those words.
No one could speak due to the shock of everything. The words had hit
like a ton of bricks. It was like hearing the end of the world come and
knowing you would just have to sit there and wonder whether or not
something would happen to you. Nothing could have prepared someone for
something like that.
Mr. Maddocks wore a smile on his face, as though he had just been
offered the whole world, and in some ways he was being offered it. "Oh
really? Well how can I trust you? This could be just a trick to kill me.
Now that I think about it, a lot of people want to kill me, the list is
endless. So why trust you?"
I smiled as well and looked behind me at the women. They all saw the
cold, dark, barren look within my eyes. And so they seemed to cringe,
all except Sarah, who looked into my eyes and smiled. There was
something dark in her eyes, something that looked different. But what?
"Why not trust me? I would kill you right now, if I wanted to. But
instead I offer to help you control the world. And then if I betray you,
your fate shall be the same. So why not trust me?"
Lilith stepped forward and hit me in the back of the head, quite
hard. "Damn you! Snap out of it will you? You're supposed to save the
world! What the hell is your problem! Whatever happened to Douglas?
Where's your conscience?"
I turned around and gave Lilith a look that would kill Satan
himself. "Big talk, coming from someone who made me kill my family in
cold blood. Just so you can save the world. Or so you say. Do the ends
justify the means?"
Lilith was left in silence, and she decided to leave. "Next time we
meet. We are enemies."
As she began to walk out, Mr. Maddocks tried to stop her, but I
stopped him. "Let her go. Our paths will cross again. And when they do,
she will die. Might as well let her enjoy her life while she can."
Mr. Maddocks nodded and stepped back. "Fine, I'll trust you for now.
But what of the two remaining women?"
Maeyli and Sarah exchanged glances, and Maeyli spoke. "I don't
know........ Why can't we just leave here and never return?"
"Because I have some things to clean up. I will not run anymore! I
will face my problems for once, and not let them overwhelm me." I paused
and looked straight into Maeyli's eyes. "So what is your decision?"
Maeyli thought, her mind was racing. She did not want a part in
this, but she wanted to stay with Douglas. But what to choose? Should
she sell out her soul, her conscience to be with, the, person,
she................ loved? Was it all worth it? Why couldn't he just
leave everything be? Leave everyone to damn themselves? It was Lilith's
fault! And she would get her revenge!
"I, don't know. Just let me go, and I'll be back with an answer
within three days. And if I'm not back by then, I will be dead." And she
left. Leaving only Sarah here.
And finally, my attention was turned towards Sarah. "So what is your
decision?"
It didn't even take Sarah a second to think it over. She quickly made a
response. "I'll follow you to death itself." And a smile spread across
her face.
I had to say that I did not hold the same, or any contempt towards
her that I used to. The reasons she did everything became crystal clear
to me. I understood that to get what you want, you would have to do
anything, and everything in your power to get it. And Sara had never
done anything wrong to me. She had never lied like Alice, or manipulated
me like Lilith. She had always been nice, and never tried anything bad.
She tried to bribe me, but what was wrong with that?
"Good. Now. What do we do first?"..........
Alice had finally made it to God's throne room. After a countless
number of interruptions, like the messenger, the cleaning crew, and a
group of soldiers doing formation drill. But now, she had finally made
it. And she had to tell God about what was going on.
She entered the large throne room to see God sitting on his crystal
throne. He wore a worried look on his middle-aged face. "Good day Alice.
What brings you here?"
"I'm here to tell you about some of my new findings having to do
with the manipulation of recent events. Not only that, but about the end
of the war between the A.C.M and the Demons."
"I thought so. So which one are you going to talk about first?"
"First, the information I have about the manipulation of recent
events. I think the church is at least involved, or could even be the
cause of all of this. And not only that, but information saying that
they may possess Pandora's box."
"And what proof do you have for all this bad news?"
"Well, a computer disk."
"Given to you by whom?"
"A man."
"Do you know anything about this man?"
"All I know is that he called himself Guni."
"Okay. So a mysterious man who gave you a disk, that tells you that
the church is responsible for all of this. Is that all?"
"Yes sir."
"It's amazingly hard to believe."
"I know sir. But for some reason I think it's the truth."
"I see. I'm not going to do anything drastic just because you THINK
the church is involved. There are just to many things going on right now
to issue a full investigation into this issue."
"Yes sir......"
"Good. Now onto your second subject."
"Okay. Do you have any information on the war? Why it ended and
things like that."
"No. I don't. All I know is that it has ended, which means trouble
for us. I expect them to wage war on us once they've gotten their forces
prepared."
"So are we going to attack first?"
"No. From what my general says it would be tactically incorrect to
do so. With the Messiah running around, and God knows how many other
groups, it would be too dangerous to commit very many troops to a first
strike."
"I see. Should I continue the investigation?"
"Of course. Is that all?"
"Yes sir."
"Then go."
"Yes sir." And she left..............
A man entered a large room. The man was tall, about seven feet, and
rather slim. He had dark red eyes and short, messy black hair. His face
was very square shaped, and a pale white. He wore a dark black robe
which hung loosely over him, and concealed his body very well. And from
his back came two large, bat-like wings. They were black and had a span
of about three meters.
The room he had entered, was made totally of rubies. The walls,
ceiling and floor were all shining red from an unknown light source.
These rubies all had pentagrams carved into them. Pentagrams with eyes
in the middle, large and small eyes. These eyes seemed to pierce even
the strongest soul, and caused fear to enter the bravest man. and it was
a mystery, whether or not they really saw, or whether they didn't.
And on these rubies with pentagrams carved onto them, were hung
paintings. On the ceiling hung small sculptures, and on the floor were
vases.
The room was large, and a red carpet went all the way up the middle,
leading to a sapphire throne atop six small stairs, elevating the
platform on which the throne lay, about two feet.
The throne was a blue sapphire, shining brilliantly. The back was
shaped into a pentagram, as was the seat, and the arm rests. All the
pentagrams had eyes in the center of them, looking around, much like
those on the rubies.
And on this throne sat a man. He was about the size of a normal man,
neither large nor small. He had dark brown eyes and very neat, short
black hair. His face looked very stern, and was a pale, snow white. And
he wore a blood-red pair of jeans and a black sweater with a red
pentagram on the front of it.
The man who had just entered the room closed the ruby doors behind
him and approached the other mans throne. "Good day Lucifer."
Lucifer had a smile on his face. "So you did all I asked."
"Yes sir. It won't be long before the church will be destroyed by
the Messiah, or God, or both. And if we're lucky, they will destroy
themselves."
"Excellent. Serves the church right. Manipulating us like that. But
soon they will see the strength of the new, Demon, A.C.M alliance."
"Of course."
"And we have you to thank for stopping the war. You have been the
savior we have waited for, for a long time. The Messiah is a phony, you
are the one who is going to lead us to our new future. You, Plague will
lead us. Or should I say Guni?"
"I am now Guni. I left the name Plague behind a long time ago."
"Okay Guni. Now we just have to wait."
"Of course sir."
"And stop calling me sir! You have earned the right to call me
Lucifer."
"Yes Lucifer."
"That's better. Now would you like some wine?"
