Well here comes part 19. With a lot of twists and turns! And I hope you
send C&C because I only have one source that I get C&C from. So please
send some!

P.S. Sorry bout the multiple girls hanging around my main character, I
know it's anime like but it adds to my plot so well. Which gets weirder
and weirder as it goes along! Well on with the story! *_*
Enjoy! *_*
..............................................................................................

                                Chapter 19: The first battle.

My eye's moved over the landscape before me. From the dark red sky,
to the charred black ground. Everything was burning, falling apart, or
both. Nothing was left untouched by this monster known as Bane. He
spread death and destruction everywhere, as he was designed for.
I looked at the dead bodies on the street, and I was barely able to
tell the bodies from the wreckage. Some were burned, others were ripped
to shreds, and others were only bone, as though all the flesh had been
ripped off their bodies.
Everything showed signs of destruction, nothing was left untouched.
No one alive, nothing not on fire or ripped to pieces. It was like this
was no longer earth, but the deepest bowels of hell. I had never seen
anything like it, not even in movies, and I hope I would never see
anything even remotely like this again.
Then I noticed someone amongst the wreckage, a moving figure. It was
like a shadow, shifting behind and around objects, to fast to see.
Whatever it was, I knew it wasn't anything natural.
As the shifting figure got within five meters of me, it changed
shape. It's body moving and bubbling it shifted into a man, a short,
blond-haired, blue-eyed man. This man wore a dark black robe and had
giant dove wings coming out of the back of his robe. It was Bane.
"Good day, Christ. How is it going?"
    "Shut up!"
"My, my, aren't we angry? You should calm down, stress is bad for
the heart."
I pointed the end of my large cross at him and shook it a little.
"Just shut up! I just want to get all of this over with."
Bane let out a small laugh and started to pace back and forth.
"You're joking, right? You can't beat me, and you know it. If your
powers were at full, yes you could beat me. But you haven't even tapped
the smallest ounce of your power. Try fighting me and it will only lead
to your demise."
Sarah stepped forward and drew her sword from the sheath. "Douglas
can beat you easily!"
    Lilith nodded. "Exactly."
Maeyli was the only one who didn't say anything, because she didn't
even want to be here. But wherever I was, she would follow.
Bane stopped pacing and looked at the three girls behind me, and
then at me. "Why do you fight?"
    "What?"
"As I asked, why? You could be killed, or seriously hurt. You could
easily run away into another dimension and no one would bother you. You
could travel from world to world with Maeyli, but yet you stay. Why?"
I couldn't think of and answer. Was it that I had no reason, or was
it because it was no obvious. Why did I come here? Why bother fighting
when I can leave and never return. When I can live a perfectly happy
life, away from all of this trouble.
    "I don't know."
"Well then why don't you go? If you have no reason to be here, then
don't be here. It's all very simple."
Why wouldn't I go? Why not go? Maeyli may be right, so why bother.
Why not just go away and never return? But something within me told me
to stay, a voice in the very back of my mind. This same voice screamed
the answer, and I could not help but answer.
    "For mankind."
"Why? Would you save mankind even though it bothers you. You are
willing to risk die for people you do not know, why?"
I knew not the answer to that either, but the voice within my mind
screamed an answer, and so I gave that answer. "Why would I live if I
could not help people? If I could not help all the people out there, if
I sacrificed them for my happiness. I would then become decadent and
corrupt, much like God. Not caring for others, all humanity sapped from
my soul. No hope, no happiness, no pity. Just selfishness."
"Well if you will stand fast in your own beliefs, then I will kill
you."
Maeyli nodded. "I'll fight you if you dare try to harm Douglas."
Lilith agreed as well. "Me to."
    "Same here." Joined in Sarah.
As they moved forward I moved out my hands to block their passage.
"This battle is for me to fight, and me only."
Maeyli shook her head. "You need our help."
Then Lilith talked. "You can't take him on your own."
And finally Sarah. "Don't be stubborn, we fight together, or not at
all."
"Shut up! I fight him on my own!"
My voice was filled with icy anger, and so they all backed away,
hoping that I would survive.
Once the three girls were a good distance away, I readied my sword
in my right hand and the revolver in my left hand. In front of me was
Bane, in a similar attack posture. He carried a small double-sided axe
in his right hand.
After a few seconds of waiting, I lunged into attack with my sword.
And so began the battle.............
A man walked into a large room, this man was tall, slim, with short
brown hair and dark green eyes. He wore a white dress shirt, with black
dress pants, a black tie and a black overcoat. He also had wide brimmed
glasses on his face, it was the same man who found Pandora's Box. And he
held that box in his right hand as he walked into the room.
The room was barely lit, the only light was being cast by a few
torched bolted to the old wood walls. Also on these walls were
paintings, dozens of them going all around the room. Each paintings were
rather beautiful, and showed of great age. Each piece of work was a
priceless masterpiece.
The floor was blood-red carpet, and on it was a large table in the
middle of the room. It was made of finely carved oak, and had seven
chairs around it. Three on the right side, three on the right, and one
at the front. The chairs were all elegant, made of the same wood as the
table. But the one at the front of the table was particularly amazing.
The arm rests were carved into giant inhuman talons that reached
outwards as though to grab it's pray. And finally, the back of the chair
was carved into Jesus Christ, nailed to the crucifix, and his head
chopped off. A sign of disrespect.
There were six people in the room, and they all sat on the chairs on
the side of the table. The chair at the front was free, and that's where
the man who had entered sat down.
"Good day, ladies and gentlemen. I have called this meeting because
I have found Pandora's box." He placed the small pink box on the table.
"With this we can overthrow the heavens. We have already taken care of
the regular church council and placed ourselves as the leaders. Soon it
will be time for the next step. Soon we will overthrow the heavens! Any
objections?"
No one raised their voices in protest, they all agreed on this, they
all knew that God would betray them. So they would have to betray God
first, before he betrayed them!
"Okay then people, you're all dismissed. Remember to assemble our
forces, we attack in three days!"
The six men and women all nodded, got up out of there chairs, and
exited the room. Leaving the man pondering.
After they had all left, and were a safe distance away, the man
spoke. "Dance puppets. Dance to my tune.".....................
My cross connected with Bane's sword, causing white and blue
tendrils of energy to emit from our weapons. These tendrils of energy
danced around us as each of us tried to gain the upper hand. Even though
I had never used a sword, it felt natural in my hand. Like in some other
life I was a master swordsman.
His blade hit my right arm, slicing open a small wound. But it stung
like a thousand wounds, all over my body. I was drowning in a sea of
pain, unable to reach the surface for a breath of air.
Bane smiled at me as he saw that I was in pain, but then a look of
shock fell across his face as he looked at my wound. And I have to say I
was shocked when I looked at my arm as well.
The wound, was not bleeding blood, it was bleeding red wine. Red
wine was covering my arm and soaking into my shirt sleeve. There was no
explanation for why, but as soon as I noticed it, the wound vanished, as
did the pain.
Once the pain had completely vanished, I leapt into the offensive,
attacking with my cross. We both tried to get the advantage over each
other, dodging and parrying blows. No one hit the other after that for
quite some time.
But after I while, my blade finally struck Bane, hitting him
straight in the chest. And when my cross connected with his flesh, a
spray of red blood came out, covering my cross, my hands, and my
clothes.
I quickly followed the slice with another one, slitting his throat.
And I watched as the crimson blood flowed down his throat, and he fell
to the ground, spilling blood all over the ground.
My eyes drifted down to his body and a sadistic smile came over my
face. I felt a certain, cruel, contentment because I killed this man. It
sickened me, but I still felt it. Sweetly bitter it tasted in my mouth.
"Do you know where I can find the other Angels?"
None of the girls dared answer, for they were scared. They saw
something within my eyes, a look of the hunter. A great power had been
awakened that day, and the world would regret ever drawing it
forth.................
Alice looked around the office and sighed. She had looked through
all the files and all through the computers, trying to find information.
But none of the church's files had anything in them about what was going
on. Everything was routine, everything reported. Maybe they weren't
hiding anything, but something in her mind nagged her about it.
But nothing was here, so she vanished........
As soon as Alice left, a man walked in, carrying a small pink box.
He had just finished talking everything over with the members of the
council, trying to decide the right course of action. But he knew the
right course, his course. They were just his puppets in a game. Let the
idiots think they're safe, but the time of judgement is at hand, and all
shall feel it.
What the council didn't know was that the box couldn't be opened
yet, it had a powerful magic seal. Only someone of massive power could
open it, and no one was willing to question him about getting it to
work. He was bluffing, and hoped they wouldn't call his bluff.
Everything had to smoothly.
"You guys can come out now."
From the shadows appeared four figures. They had just walked out of
the shadows, no matter how small. It was a trick of magic to complex to
get into.
One of the people, was a tall women, looking about twenty-five. She
had long white hair and dark pink eyes. She wore a long blue dress with
half a dozen layers. She wore two gold earrings, a gold necklace, a
silver tiara, three rings on each hand, and had blue lipstick on. She
looked like royalty.
The second person was a short man, looking to be about fifty years
old. He wore a long grey robe, which hid his whole body except his head.
His face was rather square, and quite pale and shallow. He had light
yellow eyes and thin grey hair.
The third was a little kid, very short, barely four feet tall. He
looked very innocent with his blue eyes and short blond hair. He wore a
smile on his bright and pleasantly cute face, which didn't match his
purpose. He wore blue sweat pants and a red t-shirt, which were very
loose on him.
And the last person was a young girl, looking about five years old.
She was about three and a half feet tall, with short, thick cherry-red
hair. Her eyes were a nice, happy green and looked innocent. She had a
rounded pale face which looked quite nice. She wore a blue sweater and a
green mini-skirt which went down to her knees.
The man who recently entered the room, was smiling as he looked over
the four new recruits. "Nice to see you all. Now like I said, I need
your help to open the box. Despair, Fear Corruption and Spite."
They all nodded in agreement. "Yes Mr. Maddocks.
"Good. It'll be nice working with four of the Seven Angels. If only
the others would come."
The little girl, who was known as Corruption stepped forward to
talk. "They are bound by words like loyalty and honor. They do not know
that they will be killed the second they finished their job. They are
but tools in God's plan."
The little boy known as Spite nodded. "Corruption is right, as
usual. They are idiots, and will be destroyed easily. It's the four of
us against the three of them."
The old man known as Despair shook his head. "No, only two now. The
Messiah is on the move."
Then the woman known as Fear folded her arms below her chest. "He
will be a problem. We should take care of him soon."
Mr. Maddocks nodded and looked down at the box. "I know. This box
will stop him once and for all. Not even the Messiah can stand up to
Pandora's box. And once he is taken care of, then we kill God! But for
now, it's best to let him do our dirty work. Let him slay all of our
opponents, and then we take care of him."
