O.k so I'm sick. Strangely enough there is a reason for writing this fic.
Although my peers don't agree with me, I find Miki's character to be the
most "non-human" of them all. In fact, not counting her enourmous
hyperactivity, and an amazing happy-go lucky attitude, to me she's not much
of anything really. I thought I'd take those two things away from her, and
see what's left. This is basically the result of that experiment. I
seriously hope I'm the only one in the world who's ever thought of this,
and/or attempted it.
Well, it's an interesting exercise.
I do disagree with you; we're shown so much more of Miki's inner
thoughts and feelings than the other characters that it seems she's
the most human. Her constant doubts are the source of most of her
problems, in fact. But I don't want to delve into character debate,
so I'll leave it at that.
What I find more interesting is your choice of victims. Of all the
younger cast members, Miki and Yuu seemed (IMO) to have the best
chance at a happy life together. An's death would certainly change
Yuu, but I can't see it driving them apart rather than together; Yuu
really has nobody else close enough to turn to for support, and Miki
couldn't leave him alone in such circumstances if she wanted to.
(Despite anything else I might say about Miki, and there's a good
bit, she is one of the genuinely nicest characters I've seen in
anime.) Meiko, on the other hand, seems almost self-destructive at
times, yet she turned out fine here. Ginta and Arimi... well, they
didn't exactly have a part here, but I can see it going either way.
All in ll, not a bad story, though.
