As Emry has decided to bring up a private administrative message on the
FFML, I have no real choice but to make a public reply. The original
private administrative message was in reference to Emry's post entitled
"[FFML] Re: Looking for a fic" <X-archive-position: 4071>, in which Emry
appeared to quote a privately-sent message from "Ezrial1@aol.com" in a post
to the FFML. Not knowing whether this was done in ignorance or not, an
administrative post was sent to Emry to advise of the rules against posting
privately-sent messages to the FFML.
I cannot find a post from "Ezrial1@aol.com" in my archive of the FFML posts
from the last few days, and neither can several other people (including my
fellow administrators, John Biles and White Wolf). The possibility does
exist that we all somehow missed "Ezrial1@aol.com"'s original post to the
FFML in reply to yours, in which case, I'd be grateful if Emry could
provide me with the X-archive number of "Ezrial1@aol.com"'s original FFML
post, so I can try and figure out why I and my fellow administrators are
missing posts from the FFML.
If the message from "Ezrial1@aol.com" quoted in Emry's original post did
appear on the FFML, then the fault is mine, and I apologize to Emry for my
mistake.
And, in a general note to all of you (as we've had several instances of
this recently), posting privately-sent messages to the FFML, whatever the
context, is not appropriate. Check the headers carefully before replying,
and if you wish to reply to a privately-sent message on the FFML, ask the
permission of the person who sent you the private message beforehand.
