Ritsuko calmly sat down in the cafeteria. The pilots were in no
mood for more tests and Gendo agreed that they should get the
rest of the day off. So she had a good three hours extra in her
schedule and it would be well spent on sitting down and not doing
anything.
Then Ed walked in.
The invisible aura that he seemed to project made Ritsuko uneasy.
Ed went over to the coffee machine and poured himself a cup.
"Ed?"
"Hmm?"
"Why does everyone refer to you as being in a cage back at the
Second Branch?"
"It wasn�t so much of a cage as it was a containment unit. But I
suppose that it wasn�t too off from the Eva cages. Multiple
series of sealed doors leading to the outside, restraining
harnesses, auto defense network, etc."
The Doctor stared at the American in surprise.
"Don�t look at me like that."
"What ever did you do to deserve such treatment?!"
"Well, there was Columbia Center Mall blowing up, New York being
leveled, parts of San Francisco getting erased, The Sahara
incident, Washington DC, the Sixth Great Lake, Destruction of
Pluto, four of Jupiter�s moons, and the Andromeda Galaxy just to
name a few blemishes on my otherwise perfect record."
Her jaw dropped.
"I said not to look at me like that."
"And who let you out of your cage?"

This is classic Sidestep stuff, but here he left out the very
creation of the Legacy and several smaller blunders, not the
least of which involved two casses of that instant whip stuff, a
hand grenade, and the confines of a very small british car. I'll
leave the rest to your imaginations.
