First a word from the author.
I'm stuck at the moment on "A Little Earlier" and several of my Trek works,
so I decided to send this crossover your way. In my time in fan-fic, I've
seen 4 types of crossovers. A meets B, A vs. B, A fused with B, and A
plays B. This is the last. For those of you unlucky(1) enough to be
exposed to my Trek Works, commonly referred to as the Marrissa Stories,
this is set during the latest of them "Winning Love by Daylight" (which
actually started out as half of this one) The complete Marrissa Stories can
be found at:
http://www.crosswinds.net/~stephenratliff/works/
I've updated part of "A Little Earlier" off that page. It's the ones with
the light blue background.
What am I seeking with this work? Well, other than comments from people
with Anime backgrounds, I'm not sure. The first two chapters are pretty
much done, but I need some feedback to see if I'm going the right way. And
I promise that I'll respond to every C&C I get
Stephen
(1) unlucky is a relitive term, and is included because of certain newsgroup.
Fighting Evil by Moonlight
Prologue
December 24, 2400, Romulan Star Fort One, orbiting Romulus.
Three girls stood off the main stage waiting for their curtain calls,
dressed in Sailor Scout outfits. The long blond pony tails beginning in
balls identified the youngest as Sailor Moon. A Klingon, or at least part
Klingon appeared to have the role of Sailor Mars, based on the red skirt
and purple bow. A red headed Sailor Mercury rounded out the trio.
"So, why couldn't Sara come up and join us for the children's play,
Serena?" Mercury asked. "I know she's married and doesn't feel right
filling the role of Sailor Venus anymore, but she could at least come up
and lend us moral support."
"You hadn't heard, Kasey?" Serena asked. Mercury shook her head.
"Alexis?" Mars inclined hers as if to say of course not.' "My older
sister is having a baby."
"No way," Kasey replied. "She's ten months younger than me and I'm only
seventeen."
"So, we Picards tend to start things early," Serena replied.
"I thought that she'd have trouble having children," Alexis said. "After
all, she did marry a Romulan."
"Not just any Romulan," Serena said. "One with connections that can
overcome such difficulty."
"Of course she did, Sara had to capture the most eligible man in the
Federation, Praetor Stovin," Alexis said. "Why can't we find guys like that?"
"Are you willing to go though what she did to find him?" Kasey said.
"Not really," Alexis said.
"Thought not," Kasey said. "When did you find out?" Serena heard the
unspoken addition, Why didn't I learn about it first.'
"She was throwing up in the bathroom when Mom and I visited the Palace
this morning," Serena said. "Mom was so concerned, she nearly brought the
whole Enterprise medical staff down to look at her sweet Sara.'"
"I thought sweet' was your description," Alexis said.
"No, I'm saucy Serena'"
Out in the auditorium, the rich and powerful of Romulus and Remus and
their children had gathered for the fund-raising play. Marrissa and her
husband Jay where there as well, to support two of her daughters who had
roles, especially Serena, who had helped arrange for this benefit play for
the Star Fleet Orphans fund. The announcer said, "Playing Sailor Moon,
Serena Picard!"
Serena walked on stage, carefully tripping half way to the center of the
stage.
"Sailor Mercury, Kasey Crusher"
Kasey walked on stage from the wings, reading a book.
"Sailor Mars, Alexis Rozhenko."
Alexis walked briskly on stage, sticking out her tongue at Serena who
returned the motion.
"Sailor Jupiter, Fiera Dunlette."
A brunette with a pony tail did a cartwheel onto the stage.
"Sailor Venus, Usagi Ono."
A blonde rushed on stage, coming to a stop in her place next to Mercury
with her trademarked V' for victory pose.
"Sailors Chibi Moon and Saturn, Janet Whitney and Maria Picard."
A pink haired girl came in from the right side, making serval flips,
before doing a back flip over Sailor Moon to land in front of her.
Meanwhile, the black haired Saturn sneaked into place beside her.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the Sailor Scouts."
A white flash encompassed the Scouts, and when it cleared, Sailors Moon,
Mercury, and Mars were gone. A gasp a surprise ran though the audience.
Chapter One
Serena, Alexis, and Kasey appeared in a white void. They could see each
other, but nothing else was there, as far as they could tell through the
swirling mist.
"Great, who did Mom piss-off this time," Serena asked.
"This isn't one of Dad's tricks, is it?" Kasey asked.
"Please tell me Mom is not experimenting with Warp bubbles again," Alexis
said.
Out of the mist appeared, Q appeared, in his favorite outdated red
Captain's Uniform. He didn't like the latest incarnation of the Star Fleet
Uniform. Beside him was a young lady dressed in Sailor Venus's uniform.
"Welcome to the continuum, nice of you to drop by, just when we need
someone," Q said smugly.
"Q, why do you always have to bug my family," Serena asked. "My
grandfather, that was understandable, he was an exploratory starship
captain. Mom, well she was involved in most of the historical events in
the last two decades. Uncle Nick, hung around Grandfather too much to
avoid you. And Sara is the wife of the Praetor. But why me? I'm just a
young girl who hasn't done anything of note."
"Ah, but Serena, you have, but not yet," Q said.
"That doesn't make much sense Q," Alexis interjected. "Either she has or
she hasn't."
"Federation Standard is not made for time travel," Sailor Venus said. "It
makes it rather hard to discuss temporal mechanics in it, but it will have
to do."
"Who are you?" Kasey asked.
"Amanda Rogers, Apprentice Q," Sailor Venus said.
"Well, now that we know each other, I'd like to know why we are here,"
Serena said, crossing her arms across her chest.
"Always to the point," Q commented. "Picards don't seem to enjoy the art
of conversation."
"I enjoy conversation, Q, just not in void with updrafts that keep blowing
up my skirt," Serena said, moving her hands down to try to keep the short
Sailor Moon skirt from flying upward.
"Very well," Q said. With a snap of Q's fingers, the void transformed
itself into the conference room of the old Enterprise-D. Everyone took a
seat at the table. Q sat at one end, Amanda to his right. Serena took the
other end, with Alexis and Kasey at her right and left respectively.
"Get on with it, Q," Serena said. "I have to fix dinner for my siblings
tonight."
"You'll be back in time," Q said. "I need you for a special mission."
"That I can't believe," Serena said. "What would the high and mighty Q
Continuum need of three young girls."
"I need people to stop the Aximuqu from killing your mother back in 2384,"
Q said.
"And why can't you do it yourself, and more so, why us?" Serena said.
"The Joru are the Q's ancient rivals," Q replied. "They fought the Q for
millennia. Eventually, an agreement was made. Neither would directly
oppose the other, and would make no direct attacks on each others work."
"Unfortunately, they've found a way around the agreement," Amanda said.
"They have given a moral the power to summon creatures from another
dimension, who will destroy at that mortals command and cause great
destruction."
"How can we help?" Kasey asked.
"I will send you back to 2384 and give you alternate identities," Q began.
"You will be given the power of scout you have chosen and hopefully defeat
what the Joru send. Amanda will join you as Sailor Venus, after she takes
care of some other problems in the area."
"If the Q aren't allowed to directly interfere with the Joru, how is it
that Amanda will be able to join us?" Alexis asked.
"We went to the Orangans for a ruling," Q said. "Since Amanda was born
human, she is free to defend her people."
"Now time for your new identities," Q said.
Feb 10, 2483. Romulan Prison Planet Divmirak (Deepest Hell)
Captain Jervik, formally of the Romulan Warbird Firewing, surveyed the
planet that would be his home for the rest of his life. When his warbird
had been disabled by the Enterprise, he had prayed for a quick death at the
hands of Admiral Picard. When she'd handed him over to the old Romulan
Judicial System, he prayed for a death sentence. But he was deprived of
even that way of getting out from under the rule of the Federation. They
had been instructed that no death sentences were to be given. So now he
was stuck on this planet, this planet full of stinky sulfur springs. He
strolled through the field of bubbling mudpots, squirting geysers, and hot
springs, his mood not improving as he imagined his enemy relaxing on the
luxurious bridge of a Federation Starship.
A geyser went off, sending the Romulan ex-Captain back several steps.
When it receded, a woman with long purple hair had appeared above the
smoldering source. "So you want revenge on Princess Marrissa Amber Picard,
Admiral, Captain of the Enterprise, Commander of the First Fleet during the
war, and Military Governor of Romulus, etcetera, etcetera, " she said.
"Who are you?" Jervik sputtered.
"I am Airamaya, member of the Joru, and your ticket to revenge on Marrissa
Picard." the purple haired lady replied, floating over beside him, to sit
on an imaginary chair.
Serena appeared in a familiar hallway. She was no longer wearing the
Sailor Moon outfit. Instead she was dressed in a dark blue conservative
skirt and suit combination that made her look older than her fifteen years.
The mahogany panels with the shield of Essex's Royal Family on it, quicky
told her that she was in the right place. A butler opened a nearby door,
and motioned Serena inside. He exited and closed the door behind him after
Serena entered.
A woman in her early forties who shared Serena's looks was sitting behind
the large desk. She was looking though a PADD, which had Serena's resume on
it. Serena curtsied before the woman. "Please sit down, Miss Halifax,"
the woman said.
"Yes, your majesty," Serena said, taking her seat in the chair before the
Queen.
"Your application is interesting, Miss Halifax," Queen Victoria said.
"And I have to admit that you'd fit well as nanny for Princess Marrissa's
little baby girl, despite and perhaps because of your young years, but I'd
like to know more about your experience."
"Well, I have two younger sisters and two younger brothers," Serena began.
"Maria, whose 12; Mathew, 6; and the twins Diana and David who are 13
months. It's been my responsibility take care of their needs every
morning, and from 1400 to 1600 in the afternoon. I make sure they are all
served breakfast, change diapers and help with homework. I understand that
most of that I wouldn't have to do, as Sara is only seven months old, but I
am prepared for when she is older."
"Very well, pending Princess Marrissa's approval, you are hired," Queen
Victoria said.
