At first,
*I see I'm lacking lots of commas*

Despite his outward show of bravado, his son's words were accurate.
His legs ached, and so did his chest. What used to be a simple
game
of sparring now took the greatest effort, and he wasn't sure how
much
longer he'd be able to keep it up.

Should have learned Happosai's underwear longevity techniques.
Snatch a
couple of panties and he'd be back up to snuff in no time. ^_^

Sure, and then his wife would kill him!

Then the pain in his chest went
>from a dull ache to a sharp knife going straight through him.

Ranma then realized it was because his son had just stabbed him with
a
knife. Now it all made sense.

Then she caught herself. If he was dying, her last words to him
should be something she wouldn't regret later.

An interesting realization. A nice touch on your part, Kara. It also
shows
they're old enough to both know they're marking time.

Thank you. I had some objections to this, but you'd think that at
their age they'd have grown up at least a little bit.

He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again. "I was
stupid to try this. Like father, like son, I guess."

"NO! It's not going to be like that. Not again!"

Ah, so the same thing happened to Genny too, eh?

Genma turned his back on Ranma and sat down facing the family
altar.

As far as Ranma was concerned, it was all his fault. He knew his
father was too ill to spar. He should have known better than to
have
allowed his father to manipulate him into fighting.

Hmm. So at least up until now, he never suspected that his father
wanted to
go out doing the one thing in the world he was truly good at.

Ranma never was the most perceptive person on earth...also his father
is not what you would call very communicative!

"Did you mean what you said to me? That you would come with me if
I
died?"

Akane lifted her tear-stained face from Ranma's shoulder, and
nodded.

"Of course, baka! I can't be without you. I just can't!"

So they're going to make a suicide pact? ^_^

Seriously though, eventually someone has to go first. As nice as it
would
be otherwise, that's the way it works (barring being caught in the
same
accident, etc, etc.)

Yes, a sad part of life none of us like to have to face. I'm trying
to show they have a long and happy life together. Last year I lost a
very young friend. She was only twenty. She had been married three
months when she became ill, and died two months later. Her husband is
still trying to cope.

Sweet little fic. Details were scarce, but in this they weren't
really
necessary. A nice, touching little pieces.

thank you so much, DB. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
