Pokephrophecy part 2
Once again I DIDN'T WRITE THIS BUT WAS ASKED TO POST IT
Ash and pikachu were unsure what happened. Opening his eyes Ash looked and noticed Misty and Brock were starring at them. There was a sharp smell of ozone in the air and the remnants of the attack could still be felt. Ash realised he was still holding pikachu's paw and broke the connection. For a while no one spoke. Eventually, Misty broke the silence.
"What kind of an attack was that?"
"Electric type" Brock said.
"I know that. But why was it so strong?
Brock remained silent. He looked to the sky in the direction Team Rocket was thrown. They were lucky that the attack was in one direction only or they too would have been fried. They did the only sensible thing possible under the circumstances. Not to worry about it and get ready for camp. They can figure it out tomorrow.
Over infinite distance and yet infinitely close, two figures watched the events with amusement.
"This was unexpected but we can make use of this" a light voice pulsed though the air.
"He is still human, regardless of his form" The second being stated in a heavier fashion.
"True. But for now, we can bend the rules a little and treat him like a pikachu"
"On his own he lacks the power of a pikachu"
"His friends will help train him"
"I hope you are right about this one. I still think one of the other trainers would be better."
"I know I'm right. I must talk to him"
"I will do it"
"NO! You know the moment we appear our presence will be made known to the others. He is my responsibility. I will talk to him."
"But"
"It will be okay"
Misty and Brock slept in their individual sleeping bags. Ash also slept in a sleeping bag that he had at first bought for pikachu. However, pikachu didn't like it preferring to sleep close to its trainer. Ash looked for pikachu expecting it to still be next to him. It wasn't. Ash sighed but could understand. It just wasn't the same. He guessed pikachu was sleeping with Brock or Misty. Still, he missed his constant companion. Glancing to the side, he was surprised to see pikachu just standing a small distance looking at something. It was late but Ash got up and went towards pikachu.
[Pikachu, what are you doing?] Pikachu seemed surprised to see Ash.
[you're you're here?]
[Uh, yeah] Ash replied. Whats going on? Why would pikachu be surprised to see him? Looking around though, Ash realised something wasn't right. He had grown accustomed to the sounds of outside since starting his journey but the sounds he heard now did not fit. The air was completely still. It was not as cold as it was a moment ago. But they were still at the camp-site. Weren't they? [Where are we pikachu?] Pikachu did not appear to hear Ash. Instead it pointed to something.
[There is something here] Pikachu said without looking at Ash.
Looking, Ash tried to see what pikachu saw. But there was nothing there. No wait. Yes, there was something there. A presence of some sort. It was only a few feet away. Shouldn't he be scared? No, what ever it was, it didn't feel dangerous. The presence condensed into a form. It was a pokemon Ash had never seen before or even heard of until Pikachu said its name. [Mew]
[Mew?] Ash looked at it. The pokemon humans never saw. One of the most powerful. And it was right here in front of him! Out of instinct he turned his cap and reached for a pokeball intent on catching it forgetting the form he was in. When he realised he didn't have his pokeballs on him he Cursed his luck and watched as the mew take an amused expression. He wanted to wake Misty and Brock to give them a chance to see this.
[You can not wake them Ash. They are not here]
[Huh?] Ash glanced at the sleeping forms of his friends. They seemed to be shimmering, like they were not there. Mew continued.
[I know you are confused. You see they do not fully exist in this world. You are in our domain]
Ash looked to pikachu for help but his companion merely looked to the Mew with obvious awe. Ash turned back to Mew.
[So there are more Mews out there?]
[Yes, many of us. But humans can never catch us unless we reveal ourselves.]
[But other Pokemon can see you?] Ash asked amazed
[Yes. Pokemon can see us. No doubt your pikachu has seen us on occasion]
[Really?]
[I have been sent to tell you of your destiny.]
[YES! I am going to be the greatest pokemon master.] Ash grinned
[Actually, no.]
[Oh] Ash frowned.
[But don't give up hope. Just because it's not your destiny doesn't necessarily mean you can not do it. It will just be very difficult.]
[But I thought you couldn't escape fate] Ash replied feeling a little better.
[You cannot escape fate but anything is possible. The future is very unpredictable at times such as this. Fate is a counterbalance against the uncertainty. Both must exist.]
Ash was still unsure.
[Now, you must know more about yourself and your pikachu]
Ash wondered what that could be. A thought struck him like lightning. He looked to pikachu in a look of pure terror. The Mew raised an eyebrow (if it had one) sensing the distress, then smiled.
[No Ash. Thats not it at all. You aren't getting married to pikachu. That is just not possible. At least, I don't believe it is And in answer to your question, yes. Pikachu is female]
Good WHAT?!?!?].
[However, you are correct in one respect. You and pikachu are... are... a part of each other]
[I don't understand. What do you mean?]
[It is difficult to explain. You are of the same spirit, same mind. Like siblings. A piece of each other resides in your bodies and as a consequence, your lives are intertwined with each other. Pikachu is like a representative of you and vice versa. This makes you share a bond. It allows you to draw strength from each other when it is needed. It is also the reason pikachu and your other pokemon are often more powerful. You draw strength from each other without realising it. You saw the result of this bond during your fight with Jesse and James. You and pikachu might even be able to read each other's thoughts with practice but that is years away although I suspect you are already doing it subconsciously]
Ash listened silently along with pikachu. It was true that after a difficult match he felt exhausted even though the pokemon were the only ones fighting. It was also true that any injury suffered by one of his pokemon he took it as his own. But wasn't every trainer like that? It wasn't as if he did anything special.
[It is also the reason Pikachu's shocks appear to have a beneficial effect on you.] the Mew added with a smile]. Ash shuddered remembering the times pikachu shocked him. He once even asked for it!
[So what about what Team Rocket did to me?] asked Ash.
[That was a complete accident although it has made things easier. It has allowed us to communicate with you. It could also further increase the bond with your pokemon]
[So what is my destiny?]
[I must first explain about us. I have little time. Technically I am not really supposed to talk to you. If I am discovered.] It paused and looked around as if searching for anyone listening before talking.
[As I am sure you know, the world has changed many times in the course of history. The Mew used to be the guardians of peace. We gave a helping hand to any pokemon that needed our help, guiding them through their development. Sometimes, a Mew would even befriend a human and guide him or her throughout their life. We were seen as advisors I suppose. It was a wondrous time] The mew took on a sad expression. [But the world changed. Science and technology flourished and both humans and pokemon began making their own rules to live by. We knew we were not needed anymore and so we too made our own rules. We no longer showed ourselves to humans, although we let certain pokemon see us. After a long time, we adopted a non-interference approach to you. Eventually, we no longer cared what happened to humans until one day]
[What happened?] Asked Ash.
[We underestimated the power of your science. A human, somehow, managed to gain entry into our reality and retrieved a Mew. When other Mew found out what had happened, we were outraged. But by then it was too late. The humans tortured the mew and used it to create a new pokemon that they hoped would be even more powerful. I believe you call it Mewtwo.
[Mewtwo?]
[Yes. It is an abomination to the Mew. Although Mewtwo is not a threat to us, the very idea of a human to do something like this to one of us is is very bad manners.]
[Oh. Umm sorry?] Ash hoped an apology could help but then felt foolish and wished he never spoke.
[I am afraid things have gone a bit too far for just sorry. Many of our kind intend to take revenge on all humans. They have gained allies in mistreated pokemon. I am one of only a handful trying to stop the inevitable. You would not stand a chance against an attack by even one of us.] It said with a bit of sympathy.
[We might although I wouldn't want too] Ash replied.
[No Ash. A Mew can erase a person's entire mind. There are more of them then you think. Confronted by just one, you wouldn't know how to speak, move or do anything. However, It is unlikely they will attack directly. Only the weakest of the Mew are slipping though to enter your world. They are trying to set events in motion that will destroy your society. Lacking any power of their own, they will attack through pokemon or perhaps even human agents. Imagine an entire city, an entire country. The pokemon inhabiting it attacking all humans on sight.]
[That will not happen with my pokemon! They won't attack me]
[You are correct. However, there are very few trainers that actually bond in the same way you do. That is why you have been chosen.]
[So what are we supposed to do?]
[There is still time. My friends are slowing the stronger Mew down You need to findno] The Mew turned to the side. A feeling of dread washed over Ash and pikachu, like a cold blanket over their body. [It's the Evil mew! Quickly you must] The mew fell to the ground as if struck by an energy blast. Ash ran toward it. The Mew staggered to an upright position. [No. Stay back. They will attack you too!]
[What can we do?] Ash didn't know what to do. The mew was being attacked by an unseen apparition and they were powerless to do anything. This shouldn't happen to a pokemon! Pikachu grabbed Ash's hand and began to take a few step back. Ash saw the Mew disappear from his sight. Just before they left the world, the Mew tried to send something telepathically. Realising this, Ash forced himself to memorise every detail. But as soon as the image appeared, it was gone. Try as he might, Ash could not remember the sight Mew tried to give him.
Ash found himself lying down in his sleeping blanket and heard the familiar noises telling him he was back in the reality he had always known. Pikachu was beside him.
[It was trying to tell me something! Why did you pull me away pikachu?]
[If we didn't leave, we would have been attacked too!]
[What was that place?] Ash asked as he collected his thoughts. He had never seen anything like what he saw in there.
Pikachu struggled for an answer. [It is our world. A place between here and where the Mew normally are, We go there sometimes in our sleep. You are the only human I have heard of to even know about it, let alone enter it. You must not tell a soul about it!] Pikachu said with seriousness but an equal amount of trust in his voice.
[Okay. But what about the Mew? How long do we have?]
[I don't know. For now, we better get some rest.] Pikachu then curled into a ball to go to sleep. Ash went back inside his sleeping blanket. [Ash] Pikachu called.
[Yeah?]
[Tomorrow, I am going to train YOU in the ways of the pokemon!] Pikachu laughed.
[Oh. Okay.] Ash swore he could hear his other pokemon laughing as well through the pokeballs. He let it slide. Tomorrow will be a new day. As he gazed upwards, his thoughts went back to the encounter. He began to try and piece together what it was the Mew tried to tell him. After an hour, he gave up and went to sleep.
