I only have one major problem with this fic, that
has been addressed before--
The idea that Ranma can't beat Akane anymore.
##Since this was one of the problems I mentioned in
my C&C I'll clarify my comments. I don't care if Akane
can beat the stuffing out of Ranma/Ranko ^_^ as long
as it's justified within the story. In this case it
was just a little too off-hand, esp. in light of later
events.
Assuming that the acenscion to Slayerhood gave Akane
physical abilities equal
to Ranma (which, personally, I can onlysee in
strength-- Ranma's INCREDIBLE
speed and agility
##Ummmm, I'm not a Buffy expert but isn't increased
speed one of the Slayers attributes? Not to get into a
to-be-banned-topic, IMO there is NO way to debate the
relative skills of two imaginary characters BOTH of
whom deal with mythical beasts on a regular basis.
Again, I think the real question is "Did the author,
WITHIN the story, justify their characterizations so
the story was INTERNALLY consistent?" IMO there are
some problems INTERNALLY that need to be addressed.
Other than Akane's statement that Ranma can no longer
beat her there is no evidence within the story. During
the 'training' episode Ranma seems to consistently
show abilities superior to Slayers and during the
Museum fight scene Akane demonstrates only a single
ability that _might_ place her on a par with Ranma.
The author is perfectly at liberty to make Akane
superior to Ranma, it just needs to be supported
within the story.
isn't that likely to be surpassed
that easily, after all)
there's still one major flaw--
Skill.
##^_^ Probably a major factor. OTOH Slayers appear to
come with a certain amount of pre-programmed skill.
Again, debating who is the 'better' fighter among two
imaginary characters is . . .problematic at best. ^_^
IMO the author needs ONLY to justify her/his changes
within the story. Kasumi could be the next slayer for
that matter with skills and abilities far beyond those
of mortal men . . .as long as the author justifies it
within his/her story.
<SNIP> some really good stuff. ^_^
Just a IMHO here...
Kenko/Robert Haynie-- Author of Girl Days, Paragon,
Redheads,
and War and Peace-- Gomen, no the last was Leo
Tolstoy. Well,
I was CLOSE...
