Chapter 9: Dinner in the bowels of hell.
I sat in a large room. It was made of old, finely carved oak wood.
On all the walls hung a variety of paintings, from a variety of times
and dimensions. They were all beautiful and framed in golden frames,
also finely carved.
There were a lot of different vases and pieces of artworks all over
the gold, silk floors. They were the finest artwork I had ever seen, and
probably the finest I ever would. Everything in this room was amazing.
On the ceiling hung an elegant, diamond chandelier, about the size
of three people. It was covered in candles which lit the room with a
faint glow. It was more for show then anything else.
The table I sat at was at least five meters long, and two wide. Made
of the same dark oak as the walls it had a silk tablecloth, a pure white
color.
And on this tablecloth were candles, on top of silver candle holders
that were split into a Y shape. They were carved with roses and flowers
of all design. It matched the elegance of this room perfectly.
And finally, was the meal. Dozens of different dishes were on the
table, holding dozens of delicacies. Each tasted magnificent and were a
testament to my doubles vanity.
I sat at the right side of the table, not far from my double who sat
at the front of it. There was also one other person sitting at the
table, a Colonel Blackwood. He lead the first forces into battle against
the Reality Police. And for that he was up for a promotion to General
3rd class.
The man was tall, about 6 foot 3, and rather plump. He wore a black
business coat over a white short and black dress pants. His eyes were a
dark brown as was his short, finely combed hair. This man was a perfect
example of how vanity can get to you.
The Colonel smiled at me. "Good day. I'm glad to meet you. The
General has told me so much about you."
I nodded at him and took a sip of old wine form a gold goblet
encrusted with jewels. "Yes. I believe he would have talked about me to
many people."
My double frowned a little and then hid it behind a smile. "So true.
But now lets eat. This food is the best of the best. I hope you
enjoy!"...........
Jen stood in front of the desk. On the other side of it was the new
leader of the Reality Police, Alex Mores. He was but a young man, at
least by Reality Police standards. About 300 years old, and it was a
great surprise that he got such a high position.
He was short, about five feet and a half tall, with short, light
green hair and emerald green eyes. He wore a blue uniform fitting for a
general which was a ;little loose on his small figure. He looked much
like a kid, and in many ways was.
"General, sir. I have lost track of Phillip Matthews. My last
knowledge of him being anywhere was when he flew a fighter in the battle
in dimension WQLEzzsd12866. He is probably still there though."
The General nodded slightly and then looked over into the shadows in
one corner of the room. "I see. Chase him down. Find him and then report
to me. Got it?"
"Yes sir."
"Then go, I have work to do."
"Good day sir." And so Jen left the room...........
From the shadowed corner of Alex's new office, Mr. Marlex appeared.
"She's a threat. An undetermined variable. Get her killed."
The General looked to his right side where Mr. Marlex stood. "Are
you sure? She's only a level 4 on the power scale."
Mr. Marlex's eyes seemed to turn a bright firey red. "Never question
me! Do as I say!"
"Yes sir."................
I looked down at my empty plate and couldn't help but smile. It was
a delicious meal, the best I had ever had. "Excellent meal, Phillip."
Phillip nodded and stabbed his fork into a piece of what looked like
chicken. "It is, isn't it?"
Colonel Blackwood sat back in his chair and yawned. "Quite. Thank
you for inviting me. I wondered why though."
Phillip put the chicken piece in his mouth and chewed it up. "Well
the reason is that your a traitor." And then he pulled out a gun from
his black robe.
The Colonel quickly shot up and started to protest. "But, I'm not!
No don't, I'm not a traitor!" And his please were soon cut off by a
gunshot blast.
The blast ripped right through the Colonel's heart, splattering
blood all over the floor. Quite a mess.
Phillip wiped his face with a white napkin and smiled at me. "I hope
you enjoyed the meal. Maybe we'll have one like it soon."............
"It's soon going to be one against two, the Reality Police are
gone."
"That leaves the Angel's and the Confederates."
"It could be a problem."
"It will be. But if we play our cards right then maybe everything
will work out."
There was a knock at the door. "Ah that must be him. Come in Mr.
Marlex, we would like to have a word with you."
