Two Years Later
Akane snuggled up against Ranma, smiling broadly. "I don't
believe it, a baka like you remembered our anniversary."
Ranma grinned, and held her tight. "Yeah, hard to believe I've
been married to a tomboy for a whole year." He broke the clutch,
and started devouring the food set in front of him. "An' ephen harther
t'
belief youf manached t' learn ta cook thsh goodmf!"
She punched his shoulder. "Shut up and eat, Ranma."
Soon, the food was all gone, and the table cleared. Soun and Genma
were sitting by the doors to the back yard, playing Shogi, while
Akane and Ranma cuddled in the den. Nabiki had long since gone to
college, while Kasumi was finally free to marry Doctor Tofu. Next
year, the happy couple would be going to Tokyo University, and the
whole world lay open before them by a spreading palm tree - er, no,
scratch that metaphor. The world lay open before them like the pages
of an old book.
Ranma started to feel an odd gurgling in his stomach. Akane heard
it, and grinned at him. "Still hungry?"
"No, not really." He made a face. "That's odd, I haven't gotten
indigestion from yer cookin' in six months."
Akane glanced at their fathers, and back at him. "Father and
Uncle Saotome don't seem bothered by it," she muttered. She looked
back at her husband, worried. "But I did everything right!"
Ranma, by this point, seemed to go into convulsions. Feeling
restricted even by the loose Chnese shirt he habitually wore, he tore
it
off, ignoring the panda sign that said, 'Get a room!'. His stomach
rippled, as if something alive was writhing beneath it. A large lump
formed, pushing against his skin, worming its way down. Akane started
screaming, as the - well, whatever it was, reached his navel.
A small egg popped out of Ranma's bellybutton, to land gently
on the table.
"Uhh, Akane, have I ever told you about Uncle Mearth?"
