You all know the old saying. If a butterfly flaps its wings in a
certain place, at a certain time, in a certain way, it can cause a
hurricane. Someone [I forget who, it might have been DemOta] wrote a
spamfic that it doesn't always happen that way. But lets look at
that a little differently:
If a butterfly flaps its wings in a certain place, at a certain
time, in a certain way, it can cause a hurricane. However... If
another butterfly flaps IT's wings in a DIFFERENT place, at a
DIFFERENT time, in a DIFFERENT way, it can avert that same or
another hurricane.
In this timeline, the Points of Divergence interacted in such a way
that each chaos node in the Ranmaverse cancels out another one.
However, it's not as 'normal' as you think.
(question: is the idea that the Saotome residence is in Juuban
fanfic cliche, or is it canon?)

For one thing, Soun and Genma had one less glass of sake then they
did in the 'normal' timeline. therefore, Ranma and Akane are not
engaged. Nodoka rejects the contract that Ranma 'fingerpainted' on
so long ago, but accepts the idea of a long training trip. She
accompanies them on their training trip, causing ripples throughout
the timeline and canceling most of the ones that appeared in our
timeline. However, her presence also causes Ranma and Akane to meet
each other. They go through not a string of forced engagements,
unwanted fiancees, and other challenges to their relationship, but
the normal awkwardness of a relationship between two high-school
students. compounded by Kuno's challenge to all the male students.
