or at least have serious problems with some of the
conventions of the series. certain people who are
immediately hostile might as well stop here. thank you.
The various pokemon all look largely the same, some have
mechanical parts. biomechanics? All the towns have a "Nurse
Joy" and an "Officer Kelli" who look exactly the same.
(clones?) All of the towns have silly names and designs. The
history of the planet includes a time when the pokemon were
worshipped.
So how about:
#1 - An ancient civilization developed the pokemon through
biomechanics and the vast majority of pokemon are "early
prototype" self-perpetuating pets or soldiers. There was an
insurrection shortly after the development of the Officer
and Nurse series, done by pokemon who had evolved to a Final
Stage. This is where that "pokemon worshipping" civilization
came from. The civilization eventually fell because the
pokemon couldn't evolve on their own.
The Tournaments, pokemon battles, and related bits are
devised by these secret rulers - seeking to continue to
evolve FS pokemon and eventually find another method of
evolving and breeding pokemon.
Using a crossover or author-insert character, as no one in
the series would think of it (products of their paradigm),
someone starts asking the right questions. Which gets the FS
rulers moving to stomp on the questioner and/or get them to
unravel the riddles they haven't managed on their own.
#2- technology or magic or both? (Ranma Xover)
evil wizard of the civilization that created the
pokemon also created the mechanism for Jusendo (which was
specifically built to power Jusenkyo) then went into a
stasis while the power built and shaped.
with the creation of the 151st spring
(Akanenichuan), the wizard awakes and begins collecting his
new pokemon. Modified pokeballs that "freeze" and modify the
curse, probably "taming" the victim (some form of mind
control evidenced by the capture process and behavior
pattern change thereafter). Chances for the victims to be
"evolved" and "trained."
chances for this to be an "Akane (and other
uncursed char) save the day" story, though having to fight
enslaved and possibly evolved cursed individuals...
possibly having to travel to the pokemon world to fight the
wizard's creations there.
oh well, just a thought that occurred while doing laundry
(if someone figures out the connection between evolving
pokemon and ironing shirts let me know, cause otherwise i've
got *no* idea where these came from.)
