Despite all those folks who think writing a fusion is a bad idea, my advice
is go for it. Write the story you want to and how you want to. If you want
to make sure that it meets "acceptable" standards, get some pre-readers. In
my experience they help polish your story quite a bit.
Also, any suggestion for Mech assignments will be greatly appreciated. I
am
debating whether or not to allow a few other characters from Ranma � or
other series into this story. Shinji Ikari as a Mechwarrior, naahh!
However, Gendo Ikari working for 'The Word of Blake' might work. Your
thoughts and suggestions please

If Shinji *has* to run away, might as well make it his job right? As you
can see this model of Owens was designed to spot the enemy, tag him with
NARC and C3 before high-tailing it out of here. Ideal combat role for
Shinji. He might have become a mechwarrior to prove himself to one of the
girls. Rei is likely, Shinji might also have a crush on his cool, confident
commander, Nabiki.
Artillery Support Lance
Lieutenant Asuka Langley (EVA)
Mech: Salamander.
Salamander: 60 tons, carries 60(!) LRM launchers. The pride of the
artillery support lance.
Asuka gets to slaughter enemy mechs all day and reap a great amount of
glory for herself. I think that that this position suits her tastes *too*
well.
Mechwarrior Rei Ayanami (EVA)
Mech: Catapult with Arrow IV refits.
Rei impassively reaches out and crushes someone with the awesome long-range
fire from the Arrow IV. This puts her in constant contact with the
mechwarriors of Scout Lance, like Shinji for example.

Can you imagine either of them in a front-line combat capacity? Me neither.

Captain Misato Kasurugi
Mech: Gunslinger
A former major of the then AFFC, Misato was discharged for drunken and
disorderly behaviour (actually, she spurned a colonel that tried to hit on
her). Disillusioned, Misato found use for her mech skills on Solaris. She
even faced the legendary Kai Allard Liao in the Yen Lo Wang. She was
defeated eventually but gave a good account of herself. When Kai left to
fight the Clans, Misato rose to become the Champion of Solaris. Her mech, a
powerful piece of new technology, was her prize for the annual Grand
Championship. Her old buddy, Noa Izumi looked her up and convinced her to
join the Maulers. The rest as they say, is history.
Lieutenant Noa Izumi (Patlabor)
Mech: Battlemaster (upgraded)
Noa's mech is a family heirloom that was passed down from her grandfather.
Retrofitted with modern technology, this old behemoth is still capable of
packing one heck of a punch. Naturally, Noa is very attatched to her mech
and calls it "Alphonse". Her family has served the Steiner line with honor
for over six generations. When Katrina Steiner broke the Lyran Commonwealth
from the Federated Commonwealth, Noa found that she could not obey the
orders of someone she did not respect.
Mechwarrior Ohta (Patlabor)
Mech: Hunchback IIC (modified)
Ohta, the gun nut from Patlabor pilots a Hunchback IIC that had one of its
AC20s swapped with a Gauss Rifle. The Gauss Rifle and the other AC20 gives
his mech overwhelming firepower. Armor? What armor?
Mechwarrior Priss Asagiri (BGC)
Mech: Exterminator 65 tons. Main Armaments: 4 medium lasers, 10 LRMs. Jump
and anti-missile systems.
Formerly a lieutenant in another lance, Misato busted Priss back to
Mechwarrior for disobeying a direct order. One of her people got killed
because Priss tried to stomp on a numerically superior foe on her own. Her
mech, the Exterminator was designed during the Star League to hunt down
enemy command units. And that is exactly what she likes to do.
Two more lances, I cannot think of anymore pilots but they ought to be all
purpose combat units with one light, one medium, one heavy and one assault
mech.
