I'd have to agree with this. While I'm curious about the prospect, what
you're doing is basically changing looks and names of some vital characters
in Xenogears (of which I've played, BTW).
I've got an even better suggestion; try to place Ranma characters *within*
the Xenogears storyline, but keep their personalities intact AND avoid the
same old thing thing we've read about in TOS Ranma, such as Genma and Soun
engaging Ranma and Akane, finacee problem, etc. You may try and keep them,
but try to give them a twist.
You could cast Akane as a some sort of inexperienced freedom fighter, not
affliated with either sides. She tries to steal a top-secret Gear, but
crash-lands it in some distant region, due to her infamiliarity with most of
its system.
Ranma, considered as one of the best Gear pilots in the world, outside of
Solaris, stumbles upon her and the Gear, well not as much as 'stumbled upon'
rather than being a poor target by Akane's AWOL Gear. ^_- ("Hey why don't ya
watch where you're drivin' that thing?! Look at what you've done to my
custom-built Gear!")
A while later, Solaris pops out of where and grabs Akane, due to her
'exceptional skills.' As it later turned out, she has an innate ability that
she can subconsicously call upon (i.e., her mallet if you want) without usage
of the Drive drug.
I'm not sure of where you could go with this, but it's just a thought.
