Apologies for the late reply - work, you know. :)

On the whole, I'm enjoying this quite a lot (as seem to be a number of
other poeple...).

Thank you. I'm glad you like it.

For the obligatory Rocky Horror reference, try making it the Zen Room
instead. :)

Heh. I shall valiantly restrain myself. :)

Shampoo replaced the handset as Cologne's voice cut off.
Frowning, she retraced her steps towards the pile of
magical artifacts. She picked up the next one, contemplated
it for a while, then placed it into the stack of useless
discards. Dragon fang? No. Magical gourd? No. The Eye of
the Matriarchs? No. Ancestor's Stone? *shudder* No. Ah,
prayer bead necklaces. Now, they would be useful.

...

_Please_ don't bring in the "Sit!" gag. That's probably the one things in
Inuyasha that's I've grown most sick of...

Aww, but it's so _cute_. Seriously, that won't happen.

Both Tendo sisters walked over to join him. Kasumi was
dusting a cloth-wrapped package in her hands while Akane's
face bore a brilliant and enchanting smile. "My mother's
katana. I'll be able to carve up those pervert monsters if
we face them again!"

Now wouldn't it have been interesting if Kasumi had been the one to say
that... :)

---

Somewhere deep in her heart, Kasumi Tendo realized her true purpose in life.
The blade she held was wedded to her soul, as much as it once had been to her
mother. Evil would fall before this protector of humanity. Pitted and rusted
as it seemed, the katana's decrepitude belied its true form. Kasumi knew so,
for she had seen her mother wield it to shatter an army of demons.

It was a great fang, hard as steel.

It was Tetsusaiga.

Unfortunately, this won't happen in Awakening...

"What do you mean 'what'? You've been hovering about me
like a horse-fly, Ranma. It's getting annoying." Genma

Ow. bad pun.

Yes, wasn't it. :)

"Actually, I simply bribed him with a plateful of Kasumi's
cookies. He said it was for his grand-daughter, who was
suffering from tuberculosis, but from the greedy look in
his eye I figured he wasn't really going to share." Nabiki
smiled in amusement at Akane's doubtful look and clarified.
"Well, last time he mentioned she was suffering from
leukemia, so I took it with a pinch of salt. Got these as
well, though I don't know how useful they'll be." She laid
down a stack of o-fuda beside the Shrine of Thunder maps.

Well... that depends -- are they made out of rolled-up newspapers? :)

Well, if Grandfather Higurashi made them, it wouldn't matter if they were on
the finest of paper. :)

"We could split up," offered Akane. "Fuji-san is
climbable, so one party comes up the front and the other
sneaks around back."

Yeah, but it's pretty rough going after dark (as my brother found out, to
his dismay...)

Ah, this is nice to know - I have no idea how tough it really would be, since
I'm merely an armchair traveler to Japan.

Shampoo shook her head. "No, is bad idea. You split force
when face bigger enemy, you..." She struggled to find the
right words.

"... invite defeat in detail," finished Kodachi. "The

Detail? That sounds a mite odd.

Hmm, it's a military term: 'defeat in detail' occurs when an army divides
itself into smaller parts (usually to accomplish multiple objectives) and the
enemy manages to defeat each of those parts separately.

Kodachi pointed him towards the unrolled map and he bent
over it eagerly. A moment later, he sat back with a shake
of his head and a frown on his face. He reached for a
cookie without comment, and bit into it decisively. A bout
of hearty munching eventuated, as each person eyed the
disheartening picture before them, broken only by Ryoga's
question which hung in the air unanswered.

Namely... "So, why do you have a map of Paris?"

The cold cell provided little variation for a prisoner.
Stone walls on all four sides, along with a plain ceiling
and floor. Only the dim light-bulb overhead and the stout
wooden door facing Nodoka offered faint relief from total
boredom. She sat on the hard surface, shivering slightly as
the heat slowly leached from her body. She did not complain

Minor point, but I believe you want the passive form when using 'leach'
like that.

'was leached' you mean? Technically, I shouldn't be using it at all, since I'm
not talking about a fluid here, but I think (think, mind you) that it reads
reasonably well in that form.

Thanks for writing and commenting.
