I hate to say this... But, while I think HT. Griffin's LOST it. (Badly.)
I would read it. (Why do I have the feeling that the Draka are about to find
out that they are NOT the masters that they thought they were?)

Subject: [FFML] An Idea
In the sprit of the season, I've been thinging of a way to give a
particualrly
well written horror story (which I've only _just_ gotten around to reading
in
it's entirty) a somewhat more satisfactory ending.
The name of that story, _The_ _Stone_ _Dogs_ (Book 3 of _The_
_Domination_) by
S. M. Stirling. Does anyone who has read it question my assessment?
The change? Well there are a few goings on in the background (rumors of
"monsters" in Tokyo that neither the Security Directorate or the ASI can
figure
out; cladestine meetings between General Stoddard of the OSS and a tall,
dark-skinned woman; sensor glitches indicating something beyond Pluto;
something _weird_ detected in the Arctic around '92; etc), but the events
leading up to Arch-Strategos Yolande Ingolfsson's betrayal of Eric von
Shrakenberg and the latter's subsequent activation of the Stone Dogs virus
remain untouched. However, by mid-morning (local time) on November 4,
1998 the
High Command in Archona, Domination of the Draka recive three bits of...
unusual news.
Firstly, within 90 seconds of activation, the neural-biological weapon
that had
infected the Alliance for Democracy's High Command and much of it's
military as
well as the component nations' government was somehow diactivated and
destroyed. The survival rate of those affected by symptoms approached 40%
due
to the unexpected intervention, and it will later be discovered that the
stores
of the virus have been destroyed and the event wave originated somewhere
in
central Honshu.
Secondly, the fusion missiles targeting the Alliance cities in the pacific
basin were all intercepted and rendered inert by... pale purple lightining
bolts originating in Tokyo and reaching as far as San Francisco and
Santiago.
New York City (the primary target) was destroyed and there were several
near
misses at the apparent extreme range, but similar bolts destroyed at least
three weapons platforms in the vicinity (not before one transmitted an
image of
a slightly built Japanese girl wearing a rather silly costume and pointing
an
ornate spear in it's direction from atop a Tokyo skyscraper).
Thirdly, numerous and confirmed reports are recived describing a... vision
of a
nude woman with broad white wings on her back, a crystal shining like a
small
sun floating between her upraised hands, a stylized golden cresent moon
tattooed on her forehead, and a pair of _really_ silly looking pigtails
levitating over the grounds of the old Imperial Palace as great crystal
spires
began erupting from the ground.
I suspect the preceeding events would... complicate the Final War,
wouldn't
you?
