Still looking for title ideas.

Heh, sorry for the delay on this, I saved it offline then promptly forgot
to
send it *shrugs*

By the way, can you in private responses specify or deny permission to
post
replies to the list?

Generally if I reply privately, I don't want it to go on the list...
Usually
because what I say either isn't that Anime / Fanfic related or I consider
it
spammy to the rest of the list... *shrugs* However, if you want to post
what I
say to the list, feel free... I'm not that worried...

However, be aware that I'm pretty sure that this thread has been banned.
If you
post, you do so at your own risk :)

Scrap this. go read "The sunnydale simulation" buffy/matrix crossover at
fanfiction.net, it includes something of an idea concerning what i'm
going
to make -[someone: undecided.]- Nabiki is the equivalent [as far as
agent
status] to the mayor of sunnydale, what'shis/herface is going to be the
equivalent of buffy in that fic. Jusenkyo, Anime-Physics, and so on will
be
somewhat the equivalent of the what vampire plague in BTVS is in that
fic.

You'll have to excuse me, but I'm not going to read it... *shrugs* I have
no
interest in BTVS nor do I follow the show, so reading a fic based on it
would be
pointless... (Heh, I really don't watch that much TV) I also have no idea
who
the mayor of sunnydale is/does...

Basic synopsis: Buffy [or at least her aspect of being the 'chosen one'] is
an agent whose sole objective is "preserve organic life." they forgot to
make a condition that it can't be at the expense of AI life. The mayor of
sunnydale [actually i think it's the mayor of LA] [identity irrelevant] is
an agent, garden-variety, who was corrupted by the virus [sent by zi'on]

They might regret the fact that his experiance was lost when Neo
corrupted/destroyed his files, (assuming that there wasn't a backup
somewhere)
Out-of-dateness notwithstanding, i will respond to these comments.

"you mean the one who killed Smith?" was a statement of fact, and their
reaction to someone who can irrecoverably kill an agent: be afraid. be
very
afraid.

Why? I'm yet to be convinced that the Agents are actually "afraid" of
dying.

Digital backups are one of the easiest things about electronic
information... So
why are they concerned? They could conceivably make hundreds of backup
copies of
themselves, move them to completely random locations in the Matrix, and if
they're "killed" be resurrected by getting the files back again.

-- The backups don't even have to be connected to the main Matrix - What
if,
after Smith's "death" the AI started backing themselves up onto removable
drives
(for want of a better term) where the information is, once copied,
completely
physically removed from the Matrix. No matter how good Neo is, he'll never
be
able to get at it, because there is _no_ way into it.

but they can always spawn another agent process, link it to the
various
agent
files around the place and away they go.

Well, remember that the AIs are people, with souls, even if most don't
think
of it that way. I may even go as far as there are some who want to find
a
source of energy that doesn't require slavery of humans.

But then they lose the "extra" processing power that comes from the human
brains... :)

screw that. it's not stated in matrix canon, so theres no particular reason
to include it in my fic.

besides, is it so different from vegetarians? they refuse an easy source of
protein, even if they can get it otherwise it's not so easy.

I'd like to know _how_ the AI's have souls. They're machines. True, they
have
sentience, but is that the same as having a soul?

They think therefore they am... wait, that's not right... but you know what
i mean.

As for nabiki: Neo is capable of deleting her backup just as surely as
he
can kill her. without remorse, as well.

Ahhh... But he'd have to find it first... The Matrix is huge, and unless
you
know where something is explicitly, I think it'd be pretty hard to find
it.

others have stated this [it may even be in earlier quoted text in your
reply:] inside the matrix, Neo is for all intents and purposes a god.

-- Say Nabs backed herself up onto a network that was "unconnected" to the
Matrix that she's currently in... Would Neo have the time and resources to
track
those files down before she was once more operational?

I am adapting the internal-politics theory for AIs. Matrix-bound programs
consider themselves "too good" for Robotic programs, therefore they would be
too proud to get the help someone who could do something as simple as sever
the connection between the backup disks and the matrix itself.

Would he be able to spend the time tracking one agent, out of the
thousands, all
the way back through the maze of data and get rid of the backups? -- I'm
not
asking if he could, I'm asking if he can spare the time required for such
a
search... :)

As for the humans: Humans are Energy. They are making a rather
substantial
gambit putting a whole section of power sources on the line.

Mmm... Maybe, but there are what, 6 billion human batteries plugged into
the
Matrix? How many exist inside Nerima? A couple hundred? Maybe 3 thousand
at
most? -- They're not going to be worried about losing at most 0.0000005 %
of
their total energy input.

I'm not going to assume that they have energy to spare.

The Dragon doesn't like variable fonts. Just say No!

shows up just fine in my variable font... thanks for using very few
vertical
bars and "i/j"'s. didnt see any 'm's in the pic either.

It doesn't really show up that badly on mine either, (Cos it's so small :)
but
after someone asked me if it was a hippopotamus I decided it was a lot
easier to
see in a fixed with font...

even with fixed fonts, the issue is
Courier/Monaco/LucidaConsole/AndaleMono/etc. serifs make a difference.

Ciao,
    Mike.

Wow. I can't think of anything mysteriously funny to
say... I must be over stressed. Oh well.

SPOILER ALERT FOR MY FIC [slight r1/2 spoiler too, but nothing you don't
already know]: DON'T SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DON'T WANT TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!

I found out that Mouse did in fact not survive the Cipher incident. So heres
what i'm gonna do to add some takahashi-ism into the picture.
Ryoga is freed from the matrix and ends up somehow with Ranma [first person
to ask if ryoga is really a pig gets put on my ignore file for 48 hours.]
Akane gets mad at Ranma for that and decides she[ranma] deserves a
malleting. Major misunderstandings afterwards, and senseless slapstick
violence at least on par with wedding disaster.
