If the female Ranma was just used
to correct for the male Ranma's mental problems, maybe she wouldn't have
the ki generation potential, instead just being a very good martial artist
who wouldn't master the male Ranma's special techniques. Would she switch
to some other interest? Would she even remain sane?

Ki is the manifestation of fighting spirit, or 'heart'. It's not limited by
a person's genetic makeup which isn't that important, but by a person's
psychological makeup. Talking about ki as if it's somehow scientifically
quantifiable is a pointless exersise because it just shows the people who
are talking about it really don't understand the concept on a basic level.
Onna-Ranma would be no more or less capable of focusing ki than the male
version because they share minds and hearts. This is why, even when made
weak by Happousia, Ranma was able to perform the Hiryuu Shouten Ha and how
Ryouga in the body of a small child was able to level a fully grown Ranma.
