Hi!

I answered this directly to the ML since I thought it my be of use to fic writing in general - touch of flavour here or there...

As for school names - I wouldn't worry about it too much.  School names tend to be quite simple, often named after the chome (district) they're in, or after the city / town itself, or some local landmark, like a mountain.

For instance, I live in Takamatsu, and teach at three Junior Highs (the names aren't really any different for high schools.)  They're called Kita (after the district), Yashima (both district and nearby mountain - famous across Japan for a savage samurai battle, site of the Pond of Blood,) and Furutakamatsu (Old Takamatsu.)  Friends of mine teach at similarly named schools, Mure (district), Takamatsu (city,) and so on...  Unlike Western schools, I haven't seen any saint names used.

So, in Ranma 1/2, for instance, there's no doubt a Nerima High somewhere.

As for -private- schools, that's tougher.  Don't really know any of those.  Takahashi probably knew what she was doing, maybe some of them -do- use Saint names...

Hope this helped a bit...

Later!
Mike Noakes
