I am posting this for a buddy of mine since he doesn't
have e-mail and no way to talk to the FFML
(Plus, I edit his stuff, so I get some credit, but not
a lot. All ideas are his, not mine.)

Teaser
She was tired. Very tired. Not just in the physical
way, but emotionally as well. It wasn't only the
fighting, but the loneliness of solitude that had
begun to wear away at her, tugging at her emotional
strings, making them feel as though they were going to
tear.
Samus Arran had had enough. She was a warrior,
true, but even she needed a vacation. For the last
three months she had done nothing but fight against
the Mother Brain and her legion of creatures. And they
there was the race of creatures known as the
'Metroid'.
Professor Gast had lost his life trying to study
the last living Metroid, which had sacrificed itself
to save her life. And she still did not understand
why.
She should have been registered as an enemy to
the creature, but it had not. It tried to kill her,
but in the end, it relented and took off.
And now they were all dead -- the Mother Brain
and her space pirates, the Metroid race, and her
desire to fight.
That wasn't to say she no longer had the will to
fight. She knew she could if she had too, but she was
growing weary of walking into fights that were not her
own. She was a warrior, not protector of the 10
galaxies.
Samus sighed and unlocked the clasps that held
her helmet onto the neck rim of her space armor. She
placed it down gently next to the control board that
ran clear around the cockpit of the Arran 75-395A, her
small space craft.
It was not fancy at all, not compared to the
larger ships controlled by the Terran Federation, but
it got her where she wanted to go, and had been her
transport since she was young.
After removing the rest of her space armor, Samus
pulled a long green T-shirt over her slender, muscled
upper body and returned to her seat at the center of
the large cockpit.
She sat slowly and swung her feet up onto the
console before her. She let her eyes travel around the
inside of the ship she had grown used to calling home
before looking out the front view screen.
Nothing but space and stars. No planets, no war
ships, no alien Metroids or Mother Brains attempting
to kill her. It was quite peaceful and relaxing.
Samus smiled and leaned forward, resting her hand
on the navigation panel. After a moments thought, she
programmed the flight computer to take her to Sector 7
of the 6th galaxy.
She remembered a nice little planet there that
she had visited with her parents called Flontania. It
was one of the most beautiful places she could
remember ever going to. Nothing like the foul land of
Brainstar or the boiling, decrepit Norfair. No, the
whole of the planet was pleasantly cool and
refreshing. Samus leaned back and her chair and
sighed as the Arran began forward, the engines
bursting to life, leaving a shadow trail of plasma
behind as it shot through the galaxy.

The small battle cruiser Naspor moved languidly
through the lifeless, dark mass of nothing that
surrounded it. Sector 10 of the 8th galaxy had for a
long time been a seemingly dead system, but now it
seemed even more so.
Captain Boladeii Gysi stood silently before the
massive view screen that displayed the black nothing
around the ship. Even the distant stars couldn't offer
the system a hint of life.
Gysi frowned and turned his head to look back at
the bridge of his fine ship. He didn't like what he
saw on the monitor, not one bit.
He turned fully around and faced towards his
Navigation officer, First Ensign Vega Natsu. "Ensign?"
"Captain?" Natsu looked up from her control
board, her eyes searching the control room for her
commanding officer.
"Are you sure we are in the right sector?" Gysi
moved from his spot in front of the view screen and
over towards the Ensign's seat.
Natsu looked down at the board before her and
pressed a code into the switched. After a moment, she
nodded and looked back up. "Yes, Captain. Star charts
match the surrounding constellations. Only one of the
local planets seem to be missing."
"I thought so." Gysi nodded and turned his head
to look up at the screen. "So, Samus. It seems reports
were right."
"Sir?" Natsu asked, looking up at Gysi.
"Nothing, Natsu," replied Gysi, moving towards
his seat at the center of the room. "Begin scanning
the system. Inform me of any passing ships and their
ident numbers."
"Yes sir."

Samus' eyes snapped open and she sat up in her
seat. She rubbed them and slapped herself lightly on
the cheek.
//No sleeping,\\ she scolded herself, //You have
to be awake to land the ship, Samus.\\
She shook her head and yawned. She really was
exhausted. Who knew that saving the universe would
take it out of you so quickly. She shrugged to herself
and smiled.
She was really going to enjoy her time at
Flontania, Samus decided, and nestled back into her
seat again, looking out the view screen into the rich
blackness of space. She really liked it out here, but
in other way, she disliked it. It was lonely, but
meteorite showers were so beautiful to watch close up.
Then there was always Super Novas, Black Holes,
and other special anomalies. She enjoyed studying up
on them and observing them.
But then, it always got her into some sort of
trouble. She shook her head and smiled. She was meant
for trouble.

"Sir?"
"Yes, Ensign?" Gysi turned his head to look back
at Natsu.
"I've found something. It's an old 75-395A
model." Natsu moved her hands over her control board,
bringing up new information as the super computer fed
it through to her.
"75-395A model?" Gysi's brow crinkled and he
turned his chair fully so as to face Natsu. "Weren't
they all recalled?"
"Yes sir. The Terran Federation declared them too
'battle efficient' for use of general use in public
transport. Too maneuverable and easy for known
criminals to get their hands on." Natsu looked up from
the monitor.
"What's the vessel name?" Gysi demanded, leaning
forward in his chair.
Natsu looked back down at her panel. "The Arran,
sir."
Gysi sprung up from his seat, his fist clenched.
"We got 'er!"
Natsu looked at Gysi, pulling a face. "Sir?"
"It's Samus." He turned to face the view screen.
"Set a course, Natsu, maximum speed."

Samus' eyes snapped open again, but not because
she was drifting off.
The annoying buzzing from the console vibrated
through her head, causing it to ache. She moved her
feet from the board in front of her and leaned over
it, searching for the location of the noise.
Instinctively, she knew what it was. It was the
alarm that she had better watch out for incoming
vessel/vessels.
Samus' hands fumbled clumsily over the console's
surface as she entered a combination of numbers and
symbols that deactivated the alarm.
She thanked god as the sound of the annoying
buzzing began to fade and then slipped back into her
chair, reaching out to activate the long range
scanning device.
After examining it, Samus knew that the 'incoming
ship' was a Mark II Terran Battle Ship. Small,
precise, deadly -- the three key words to good war
weapons.
She sighed and flipped a button to unlock her
comm signal. "Now what," she asked herself, shaking
her head.
"Arran 75-395A, this is Naspor 1765-34G. Please
respond."
Samus looked down at the speaker from which a
feminine voice echoed through the cockpit. She reached
forward and flipped a button. "This is the Arran
75-395A calling Naspor. How can I help you?"
An image suddenly flashed across the view screen
before Samus. She let her eyes wander over the image,
which could only be the bridge of the other ship.
Her eyes ran across three people which she
assumed were the Captain, Navigation Officer, and
Weapons Chief. Not a very impressive bunch of...
//Wait a second!\\ Samus did a double take and
focused on the captain. "Gysi?!"
Gysi nodded, his lips pulled back in a thin
little smile. "I'm gratified that you remember me,
Samus."
"How could I forget?" Samus' voice dripped acid
as she eyed the captain of the Federation ship. "What
do you want?"
"I'm amazed you don't know yet."
"What do you mean?"
Gysi's smile widened. "You've heard about warrant
for your capture, surely."
"What!?" Samus stood suddenly, hitting her head
on the console that lined the ceiling. She winced and
reached up to rub her skull.
Gysi chuckled and then suddenly grew serious.
"I'm afraid I have take you in, Samus."
"What for?" Samus demanded, her face growing
dark.
"You've been charged with the ultimate crime,
Samus."
Realization suddenly struck the female warrior.
She shook her head and crossed her arms over her
chest. "No. You can't get me for..."
"Genocide," Gysi finished. "You have been charged
with the genocide of the Metroid species and
destruction of their home world. There is only one
punishment for a crime of this nature," he paused, as
if to add a dramatic air to the situation. His smile
grew slowly darker, and then he finished.
"Death."

So, what do you all think? Should I continue this
story? I want to, but only if people take an interest.
I don't know if/how many stories of the "Samus gets
charged with Genocide" nature have been done, but I'm
hoping not too many.
Let me know (through The_Man_with_the_Machinegun@juno.com )
Thank you all,
Thomas R. Delta
