Ranma 1/2 - Zelda Fanfic
By: Greg Housley

Disclaimer: The characters and situations of Ranma 1/2 are owned
by Rumiko Takahashi and are used in this fanfic without permission. The
characters and situations of The Legend of Zelda are owned by Nintendo
and are also used in this fanfic without permission. Some of this crap
is mine (esp. Nishii, Who is my creation from before I even knew what
Ranma was.) and I didn't need my permission to use them. Any wish to
use such characters ( Can't imagine why) just rub my belly and dance
naked in a circle three times while singing 'I'm a little tea pot'
backwards, and thereafter make you request. Or... You could simply
email and ask me. ; ) Which... I would appreciate.

Authors Note: I've taken a shot at this Fanfic a couple of times in the
past so you might recognize bits and pieces from chapters 1& 2! If not
good because this time it's the real thing! Here goes! This fanfic is
a xover of Ranma 1/2 and The Legend of Zelda (ocarina of time.), and
the content herein is pretty serious. Known Zelda elements such as
characters, plot, and setting will probably not be as evident until
later chapters (probably beginning 3 or 4). Criticism, comments, and
flames can be emailed to coldmatrix@hotmail.com. Or you can just post
those buggers on the FFML and I might see 'em. Enjoy at your own risk!

---A special thanks to T.H. Tiger, who served as my pre-reader, it was
his comments that saved this Fic from some really bad errors! A thanks
also to Jerry, who is the reason I decided to take this Fic up again.

RZ1/2
Chapter 1 -

The air was thick with evil, an evil so strong it could
taint the farthest reaches of the world. The very essence of this evil
was strong enough to awaken those lost to its path from their long
slumber. The air of the world had turned to a chilling sting, and the
skies had darkened in its wrath. The evil was alive! It had found its
home in the hearts of those mortal, and it was there it chose to grow.
The evil, however, was not without its master. No, This evils strength
was powered by a single soul, and those sensitive to it's feeding could
very well be driven insane.

"Welcome home, Gannondorf." The young woman whispered to herself.
She could tell he had not crossed over from the sacred realm, the very
realm that had once housed the Triforce. *At least not yet.* She
thought darkly.

She knelt over the sleeping form of her younger sister. She could
tell from the way her sisters features were wrinkling and twitching
that her sleep was infested with images of the dark Prince. She waved
her hand over her young sisters face, and her features grew still, and
peaceful.

She was aware that the Gerudo thief, Gannondorf, intentionally
wanted his presence known. It was almost as though he was parading in
open defiance to those who had imprisoned him so long ago. She could
tell from this defiance, that he had used the past seven years to his
advantage "He has grown very powerful." She said, feeling a slight
pinch of fear well up.

She stood up and brushed her silky robes free of their wrinkles.
Her skin was a pure snow white and her long hair was a fiery orange.
Her long pointy ears, though similar to the elf's, were much longer,
and her beautiful blue eyes lit up in an intense blue glow. She looked
down her body and sighed. She was one of the last of her kind and she
missed the company. She was a faerie after all. Over one thousand years
old and still she was just a young girl. She was one of the most
powerful of the faeries left, but only as long as she remained in her
forest, her magic bound her to its source. Outside the forest she was
virtually powerless. She clenched her fist shut. She wanted so badly to
leave, to experience the world as mortals did, but her father had
forbidden this. He was a small yet wise old man, and though she was
powerful, his power was ten times more so, which allowed him to live
anywhere he chose, for thought back to the power that she could feel
emanating from the sacred realm. Not even her father had such. . . She
shivered at the thought and left it unfinished.

She suspected that after seven years of holding mastery over the
Triforce of power, one of the three pieces of the ancient relic, that
his powers were quite possibly immeasurable. *How can such a power be
stopped?* She asked.

*It was with the help of the six sages and the Princess Zelda,
that the boy Link had managed to defeat the Evil Gannondorf and lock
him away in the sacred realm, over seven years earlier. Should he have
figured out how to break the seal and cross over into Hyrule...* The
young faerie shuddered at the thought.

*And then there was that tear I felt.* She remembered. *A doorway
to our sister planet had been opened only a day ago. Could these events
be related?* She wondered in horror. She mentally kicked herself. *If
only there was something I could do.* She walked over to a large pot,
and stared down into it. Inside, filled to the rim, was a glowing,
blue, liquid. It was as smooth as ice and seemed to be motionless.

She reached down into the pot and dipped her fingers into the
liquid. Though still it remained motionless, the surface parted
allowing her hand to submerge itself. She concentrated her thoughts and
let a small amount of energy slide from her body and into the glowing
mass. The liquid began to finally ripple and she removed her hand. She
stood silently as the liquid began to grow motionless again and an
image began to form. A young man no older than seventeen began to take
shape before her eyes. Though she had never before seen this boy, she
new instantly from his tattered Kokiri clothing, and radiating spirit,
that this was the boy who had pulled the master sword seven years
earlier and defeated the mighty Gannondorf. She smiled in spite of
herself. The boy was as handsome as she imagined, perhaps even more
so... She let the thought drop. For he was elfin... a mortal. She
brushed her fiery hair out of her eyes, and continued to stare into the
image before her.

"He's not ready to do it again." A familiar wizened voice stated
in a 'matter of fact' sort of way. She jumped at his abruptness and
turned to meet the eyes of her aged father. She blushed at being caught
off guard. Finally she realized what her father was saying.

She seemed to grow sad. "I know... But who else can we count on?"
She continued to look upon the image of the young elf.

"It would seem our fates DO, once again, lie in the hands of this
young mortal." The wizened faerie confirmed. "How sad..." He finished.

The young faerie then turned to meet the eyes of her ancient
father. Her eyes pleading. "Father... Is there a chance? Can he do
it... again?" She trailed off. As she saw her father's face sadden.

"No." Her father answered flatly. He looked down at the ground
not wishing to see his young daughters sorrow. "Should he try... He
will fail."

"But... How can you be so certain?" She seemed to be choking back
her tears. "How..." Whatever else she had planned to say, seemed to
leave her. A moment of silence passed.

Finally her father spoke again. "He's lost faith in himself. He
no longer believes himself capable."

"But why?" she pleaded, letting a tear escape down her cheek. "Is
there nothing we can do?" Her father looked up, only to have his
daughter search his eyes.

Her emotions began to grow more frantic as slowly she could feel
the evil choke away at her fear. "Father please! There must be
something!" Her father simply stood rooted in place searching the air
for something only he could see.

"Father." The old mans heart caught in his throat as heard his
daughter's steady voice grow cold with determination. "If you will not
do something..." His gaze met that of his young daughter once again.
She is so beautiful he thought. "I will." She finished. "I will leave
this node, and find the elf boy, no matter what! And I'll do what ever
it takes."

Her father's brow furrowed at his daughter's open defiance. He
thought to challenge her, but something in the way she looked at him,
made him think better of it. She firmly stood her ground. The old man
sighed. "Very well I'll do what I can!" The girl's face lit up. "But I
warn you now, what I can do is very limited! The boy's demon's are
within himself." The girl's face turned to a very sober look.

"Father do what you can, I could ask for nothing more. Just
promise me you won't give up!" The old man simply smiled, turned, and
walked away.

As he stood several miles from his daughter's node, he felt
himself smile again. His daughter was finally beginning to understand.
She finally was beginning to care for the world their people had been
entrusted so very long ago. And he had a feeling she would get her
chance to help save it... A dark feeling...

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ranma-chan stared out into the storm filled sky; rain was beating
against her unprotected skin in a steady cadence. Things were, of
course, as normal as usual but it seemed to finally to hit a certain
core nerve in Ranma that threatened to change everything. The rain was
chilling to the bone but Ranma-chan simply shrugged the discomfort
aside.

"Why?" She sighed glumly. "Why is it that every time I get into
a fight; be it physical or some stupid argument, do I always seem to
get splashed with water?" She sighed again. Water dripped from her
bangs and into her eyes, causing her to shut her eyes involuntarily.
She reached up and rubbed her eyes subduing the stinging sensation.

"Hmmph!" Ranma-chan snorted bitterly. "Its like they all get
some secret pleasure out of humiliating me."

Lightning flashed, lighting the sky up to a brilliant white glow.
Ranma-chans eyes flinched at the sudden increase in light, which left
her vision distorted with spots.

"I'm so sick of this curse. I'm starting to not even care what
form I'm in; so long as I can keep it for a time." Ranma-chan glanced
down at her small hands and flexed them open and closed. "Do I really
not care?" She reconsidered her words.

She slung her head down in disgust, "Of course I care!" Her echo
died quickly against the sound of the rain. "Still..." She let the
nagging doubt die. "Arrrggg!" She growled. "What's wrong with me!"
tears began to slide down her cheek.

Her mind began to drift back to earlier that evening and she felt
her anger rise even more...

-Lightning flashed again-

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"Okay Ranma here you go." Akane beamed. She had finally convinced
Ranma to give her cooking a second chance, and she was sure this time
was going to be a success.

Ranma however, was miserable. *How'd I let her talk me into
this?* Ranma wondered incredulously . He stared at the concoction on
the plate before him and shuddered.

"Ranma, you promised!" Akane managed, a sharp tone present.

"Okay! Okay Akane, geez." Ranma glanced down at the dish, dread
apparent in his composure. "How'd I ever get myself into this one."
Akane heard Ranma mumble under his breath.

Akane simply watched. Her temper in check, as Ranma sat staring
idly at the dish,

Akane saw a twitch in his eye develop and felt her anger rising.

"Ranma would you just try it already." Akane blurted, finding it
more difficult to surpress her anger.

Ranma merely sighed and slowly with exaggerated movements began
to pick his chopsticks up. He pulled them apart, sensing the impending
doom, and dipped them in to the very foreign dish.

Ranma felt his last resolves slipping away. The mass sitting on
his plate looked unlike anything he'd ever seen. "Akane what the heck
is this anyway?"

"I... uh, umm." Akane stuttered. "Ranma you're stalling!"

Ranma winced he'd been caught. He clamped the food in his
chopsticks grip, and brought the foreign matter up to his mouth,
letting his lips part. He began to tremble. His hands were shaking so
bad the food began to slide off his chopsticks. Slowly, carefully he
began to move his hands the rest of the way to his mouth. Akane froze
letting her tempered eyes bore a hole straight through him.

Ranma slid the unknown substance into his mouth letting it sit on
the top of his tongue as if waiting for clearance to slip down the
hatch.

He was surprised! Though no good taste was evident, neither was a
bad one. *Could it be?* He thought to himself. It was then that his
teeth bit into the substance releasing the foul poison onto his taste
buds.

His face first turned bright red then switched to soft purple and
finally to a ghostly pale white. He began to choke.

"Ugh ugghh erk heckk. Ptoot!" He spit the substance back onto the
plate. "Oh gad Akane that was awful! Geez what are you trying to do,
kill me?" It was then Akane's well-built resolve shattered and anger
flushed into her cheeks.

She grabbed Ranma by his pigtail and pulled him through the back
door. "Raaannnmmmaaa, YOU JERK!" She then proceeded to punt Ranma
clear through the air. Ranma plunged head first into the pond.

Ranma-chan burst up through the surface of the pond with anger
and shock etched lividly in her features. "What'd you do that for?" she
asked almost reflexively.

"As if you need to ask Ranma." Akane said sourly yet somewhat
controlled.

"Hey wait!" Ranma-chan called afterr "Akane!" Ranma-chan watched
as Akane wheeled about and stormed back into the house. "Stupid
tomboy." Ranma stated flatly to herself.

Ranma-chan pulled herself out of the pond and onto the ground.
She removed her drenched shirt and began too tightly wring it out.
Doing so she noticed the lightning flash across the sky.

"Huh." Ranma grunted. "Looks like rain." She noted dumbly to no
one particular. She climbed the steps to the back porch sliding her
shirt back on and peered into dinning room.

"Good no ones around." She thought to herself. And then proceeded
to make her way to the kitchen.

The kitchen was busy as usual. Kasumi stood center the chaos
preparing some elaborate meal that no doubt would make her close
encounter with death distant.

"Kasumi..." Ranma-chan started only to be cut short by Kasumi's
sudden interruption.

"Oh my." She began. "<Sigh> Akane's cooking didn't taste very
good, did it." It was a statement more than a question.

"Didn't taste very good she says." Ranma-chan snorted. "Try vile!
I think my heart skipped a beat!"

"Ranma, Akane really does try. "Kasumi began in a mother-like
fashion. "Just give her some time, She's bound to get it right
eventually."

"Not if she doesn't kill me first." Ranma-chan mumbled to
herself.

Kasumi began to smile again. "Here you go, Ranma!" Kasumi said
cheerfully, and proceeded to pour a kettle of warm water on the
somewhat depressed looking red head.

"Thanks Kasumi." Ranma said, reverted back to his male form.
Kasumi just grinned warmly, and continued the preparations for the
evening meal.

Ranma just sighed and resolved to keep a distance from Akane for
the rest of the night. He wandered into the foyer and began to climb
the stairs when Nabiki stopped him in mid-climb.

"Halt!" Nabiki held out her hand in a commanding officer like
form. "I have need of you good sir." Nabiki said in an unreadable
manner.

*Oh brother here it comes.* Ranma thought trying to figure out
what it was that Nabiki was up to this time. "What is it now Nabiki?"
Ranma demanded in a cool uncaring tone.

"Come with me." She said, simply. She turned and began the rest
of the climb up the stairs and turned down the hallway. "Ranma are you
coming?" Nabiki sighed.

Ranma climbed the length of the stairs angling down the hallway
after Nabiki. Nabiki stopped to open her door and usher Ranma in.
"Alright Ranma stand right... Here..." she pointed to the center of
cloth laid out on the floor. Ranma obligingly walked to the center of
the rug and began to stare as Nabiki began rummaging through her
things. "Not this... Not this... Not this... Not thi... aha!" Nabiki
turned to reveal an expensive looking camera.

Ranma eyes grew wide "Nabiki I'm not..."

"Hold still Saotome." Came the interruption. And then Nabiki
knelt down to pick up the kettle Ranma had failed to notice.

"Nabi..." <Splash!> <click>, <click>. Nabiki began to flash
pictures despite Ranma-chans obvious protest.

      "Nabiki <click> how many <click>times do I <click> have <click>
to tell you <click> that I'm <click>not some <click> quick and easy
<click> way to make cash <click>"

"Come on Ranma, be a good sport, business has been a little slow
lately." Nabiki beamed. <Click>

This wasn't the first time Nabiki had used Ranma-chans cursed
form to gain profit. Sometimes she'd get a hankering for some quick
cash, make some photos, and sell them off at nice price to Ranma-chans
male obsessor, Kunou

Ranma-chan began to fume. She turned around and stormed out of
the room "Ooh nice angle!" Nabiki called after. <click> <click> <click>

Ranma-chan slammed the door. "Arrghh! I wish she'd leave me alone
sometimes!" Ranma-chan headed towards the stairs and again made her way
into the kitchen. She then walked her way up to Kasumi and stood there
looking rather put upon.

"Oh!" Kasumi yelped rather startled. Regaining her composure she
reached over to the stove and fetched the kettle. She poured its
contents onto the still flustered Ranma-chan and with a smile placed
the kettle back onto the stove. "There." she said noting the change in
Ranma's gender.

"Thanks." Ranma replied sounding rather irritated. *Sheesh,*
Ranma thought. *Maybe I just need to get some air.* <sigh>

He made his way out of the kitchen and headed back toward the
dinning room and stopped at the back door. He slid the door open and
slipped outside into the cool dark night.

<Sigh> "Sometimes it just isn't fair." Ranma thought aloud.
Though his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a loud cry.

"RRRAAANNNMMMAAA!!! I'll make you pay for those things you said
to Akane." Ranma knew exactly who it was but hadn't the time to locate
him before he was doubled over back into the pond. Ranma-chan parted
the surface once again, to look out into the eyes of her old rival.

      "Ryoga." Ranma-chan spat in distaste.

"Ranma! I'm gonna beat the hell out of you..."

"Aw shut up Ryoga!" came Ranma-chan's retort and with that she
kicked up a wave of water splashing Ryoga in the face.

"Hah, what'd you think of that you stupid jerk?!" Ranma-chan
shouted out at the now small black piglet.

      Ryoga Growled.

"P-Chan, what are you doing out here?" Akane shouted. "Ranma" she
bellowed "How dare you splash P-Chan with that frigid water, He could
catch a cold! Honestly!" She bent down to retrieve the now soaked
piglet "Come here baby! Mommy'll take care of you. Was that nasty Ranma
being mean to you? Poor baby." Akane let a scowl at Ranma-chan and
turned back to the house, tossing her head as she spun around.

"Come-on baby, I'll give you a nice warm bath!" Ranma-chan heard
Akane say as she exited into the house.

      "Bwweeeeee!!!" She heard P-chan protest.

"Stupid Ryoga." Ranma-chan snorted. She looked down at the pond
and felt it's chill begin to climb her spine. She shivered
involuntarily. " G-guess I c-can't stay here any longer." She sighed.
Once again she pulled herself up out of the pond and ventured forth
into the house. This was turning out to be a horrible night.

She stumbled in through the dinning room and once again made her
way through the kitchen to Kasumi's side.

Kasumi turned and looked at the disheartened girl, and sighed.
"Oh Ranma." She said sympathetically. Once again she lifted the kettle
from the stove and poured out its contents onto Ranma-chans body. With
the last of the water gone she shook the kettle.

She sighed again. Looks like teas gonna be a little late for
dinner." She said trying not to make Ranma feel any worse.

"I'm, uh, sorry Kasumi." Ranma said apologetically. And then
turned to exit the room again.

*Poor Ranma,* Kasumi thought. And then proceeded to fill the
kettle again.

"There's gotta be a way to beat this!" Ranma ventured aloud.
"Forget it.." Ranma spat. "I'm goin to bed." Ranma climbed the stairs
walking the hallways extent, passing by Akane's room. Inside She and P-
chan were playing on her floor.

*Ryoga you pervert ain't you got any self-respect.* He thought
bitterly. He reached the door to his room and pushed it open with a
click. He walked to his futon on the floor and laid down with an
audible groan. Today had been rough. He thought to himself. It would be
good to finally get some shut-eye. I hope tomorrow is better; he
thought hopefully and with that thought in mind, he started to drift.

<Splash!> "Huh! What?!" Ranma-chan flung awake with a cold
shock. She began to choke and gasp from the water that had flown up her
nose and the sudden frigid substance that had penetrated her defenses
like knives.

"RANMA! You Ingrate! Didn't I tell you to pick me up a box of
markers at the market today? Huh? Well didn't I?"

"Geez pops! What do I look like your slave why don't you go get
them yourself and leave me alone, sheesh!"

Ranma-chan looked down at her now overly feminine body and cursed
her father inwardly. She jumped up and kicked him in the head making
him fall to the floor like a load of bricks. "And what did you go and
do that for anyway?" Ranma-chan screamed! Seeing her opportunity she
picked up the pale in the corner and splashed Genma. The panda looked
up at Ranma-chan from where it had fallen. Angrily it began to scribble
away at a sign which only read something like "You ungratef..." due to
the sudden loss of ink in the marker. The panda growled.

"Ha! Ha!" Ranma-chan laughed. And then walked out the room and
back into the hallway, slamming the door behind her. "Stupid old man."
Ranma-chan's nerves were becoming steadily worse.

Maybe I'll just run myself a hot bath she thought. And lazily
marched downstairs and into the bathroom. She began running the hot
water testing to make sure it wasn't too hot. After that old ghoul
cologne, had finally given her the phoenix pill to counteract the cats-
tongue pressure point curse, she had never fully recovered her
tolerability to really hot water.

With the bath run, she slipped her small body into the hot
vaporous bath letting the warmth tingle all over her body. She felt the
change and was relieved to once again be male.

He sat there and soaked for a while letting the warm water
wrinkle his skin feeling very much relaxed by the heat as it pressed
into his chest.

"Ahhh, man it's good to finally be alone!"

"Ranma!" Ranma perked up hearing his name.

      "Ranma!" It was Kasumi.

"Uh yeah hold on a second Kasumi!"

"Dinners ready, Ranma. Don't let your food get cold!"

"Uh, sure Kasumi, be out in a jiffy." Ranma leapt out of the tub
rushing to the towel and drying off. He quickly threw on his clothes
and burst out the bathroom door, running toward the dinning room.

Everyone was already seated eating leisurely without giving a
glance to Ranma as he sat down and began cramming his face full of
food.

It was Mr. Tendo who finally broke the silence. "Kasumi you've
really outdone yourself this time, this is wonderful!"

"Yeah!" Ranma spoke up. "This actually taste like food!"

      "Thank y..." Kasumi began.

"Drop dead Ranma!" Akane dumped her drink out over Ranma's head.

Ranma-chan's eyes narrowed into piercing daggers, and she could
feel her petite form begin to tremble under the rage. The small redhead
began growling louder and louder as if trying to control her rage.
Everyone began to take notice as Ranma-chan's battle Aura came to life
a deadly dark red. She shot up from her seat, clenching both fist
tightly at her sides.

"That does it!!! I've had enough of this. All of You!!! I think
I'm beginning to realize just how much everyone wants me to be a girl.
Well, fine by me. You wanna a girl? You gotta girl! I could care less."
At this time tears began to well up in Ranma-chans eyes and no one
seemed to miss it. Ranma turned from the table and darted out the back
door.

"Ranma?" Was all that Akane could say.

The others simply stared off after him shocked. "Poor Ranma."
Akane heard Kasumi say.

It was then that the skies chose to open and unleashed their fury
upon the Tendo household.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ranma-chan stared off into the distance. She had been up on the
roof for over six hours and still the rain hadn't let up.

"So you want me to be a girl too huh?" she said to the sky.
Though as expected no reply came, only the subtle answer of rain.

She brushed her matted bangs out of her eyes. Out of the corner
of her eye she saw something move. Reflexively she slung her head
around to its source.

      *Ryoga...* She thought bitterly.

Ryoga walked the length of the roof, umbrella open and overhead.
He walked over to finally take a seat next to Ranma's lying form.
Ranma-chan simply diverted her attention back to the sky.

"Ranma, I... <sigh> I just wanted to say..." Ryoga broke his
train of thought to notice Ranma was paying him no attention. "Ranma
please look at me."

"Why should I Ryoga, you've got nothing I wanna hear."

A hint of anger appeared in Ryoga's voice. "Arrgghh Ranma this is
hard enough without your help..." He trailed off. "<Sigh> Are you
alright?" Royga finally managed.

"What'd you think you stupid jerk." Came Ranma-chan's reply still
focusing her attention at the sky.

"Ranma I'm sorry." Ryoga's voice was just a whisper and almost
inaudible from the storms clatter. Ranma-chan turned shocked. This was
something she couldn't even expect from Akane much less Ryoga.

"I understand what it's like..." Ryoga continued. "I mean look at
me I turn into a pig."

"Well at least the people who know about your curse don't douse
you in cold water every time the mood hits them, and at least Akane
doesn't know about it, and..." Ryoga cut Ranma-chan off.

"You know Ranma there's been a time or two you've splashed me
just 'cause it suit you." Ryoga accused. Ryoga noticed Ranma-chan's
head drop into her hands.

"<Sigh> Ranma, I know it's hard. It's hard for me too! Hell, the
only one who seems at ease with their curse is your father!" They both
chuckled at that.

Ranma-chan's curiosity finally peaked. "Ryoga why are you being
so nice to me all the sudden? I mean why..."

"Because Ranma"... Ryoga paused to gather his thoughts. "I know
what it's like to feel, you know, like a joke." Ryoga began to search
the sky for something. Lightning flashed. "Its just ever since I met
you and the Tendo's I've found it easier to except my curse... I guess
maybe because I've began to realize I'm not alone... I feel... excepted
amongst all of you. And that's something kinda new to me."

"Ryoga... I never knew." Was all Ranma-chan could think to say.

"And I realize sometimes when I get angry I don't think much
about how you must hate having your curse exploited. And I'm sorry..."
Ryoga then seemed to realize the awkward expression on Ranma-chans
face. "But, Don't think I've forgotten how you turned me into a pig or
how you're a jerk to Akane or anything though."

"Oh no Ryoga perish the thought." Ranma-chan chuckled

Ryoga seemed to realize something and looked over at Ranma. "Come
on inside Ranma it's almost dawn. Lets get you some hot water too!"

"I'm not changing back!" Ranma stated flatly. Ryoga froze.

"W-what?" was all he could manage.

"I wasn't kidding about those things I said earlier, I might have
been pissed off but I meant every word."

Ryoga didn't know what to say. He just stood there. Frozen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

      "Tendo have you seen Ranma?"

"Uh no Saotome, did he ever go to bed last night?

"No." Genma said point blank. Soun just sat there with his paper
staring out over it at Genma.

"Morning Daddy, good morning Mr. Saotome. Akane strolled in
apparently rejuvenated after a good night's rest.

      "Akane?" Her father began.

      "Yes Daddy?"

"Have you seen Ranma around?" Akane's mood darkened somewhat at
the mention of Ranma.

"No, Isn't he usually sparring with you Mr. Saotome."

Genma spoke up. "He never came home last night." Akane gasped.

"You mean no-one knows where he is?" Akane was puzzled.

     "Hmmm that's right." Genma answered.

"I'll see if he's out back in the dojo." Akane finally said.

Akane left the house through the back door, towards the dojo.
He's just gotta be around here somewhere she thought. "Hmph," she
grunted "It's still raining."

Ranma-chan stood in the center of the dojo working on her
exercises. Though she still couldn't get last night out of her head.
Those jerks! She thought. I'll show them. I'll just stay a girl. A
wicked grin appeared on her face. I'll even start acting like a girl,
and really make them wish they hadn't messed with me. She began to
recall the time she hit her head, and had thought she really was a
girl. That drove everyone crazy. But no! She stopped that thought,
remembering how at that time she also had become a pitiful wuss, who
"abhorred violence". To act like a girl was one thing. To give up
martial arts was a completely different one. This was simply just to
get them back, not to change who she was... ---Who she was... She
thought peering down at her small feminine hands. *Who am I?* She asked
herself concern creeping into her vaguely lost eyes. She spent so much
time ignoring that very question, the very thought of it scared her.
Who am I really...Two eyes seemed to peek out at her from the door.
*Akane,* Ranma-chan thought darkly.

Reaching the dojo, Akane peeked in through the door to find
Ranma-chan dressed only in a tank top and boxers, steadily working on
exercises. He still hasn't changed back she thought. I wonder why? She
noticed Ranma stop in her exercises and begin to look down at her
hands. She finally seemed to snap out of her daze and turned toward the
door to the dojo

Ranma glanced through the entrance to the dojo and past Akane.
Though it was still raining it appeared dawn had finally struck. She
sighed, *I'd better get some sleep before I collapse.* She grabbed a
towel and threw it over her shoulders. Then she exited the dojo,
brushing by Akane as she entered into the back yard.

"Ranma!" Akane called out, but Ranma-chan simply continued to
climb the steps to the back porch and disappeared through the back
door.

Ranma-chan stepped in from the door and into the dining room,
catching the stares of both Soun and Genma.

"Boy, where have you been!" Genma called after. Ranma-chan simply
walked by without acknowledging her father.

"Son I..." Soun began but Ranma exited the room and began to
climb the stairs. He passed by Kasumi who greeted him with a much
friendlier, "Morning" And then continued to walked on down the hall to
her room. She entered in through the door and passed out on her futon.

"What was that all about I wonder?" Genma asked.

"I don't know Saotome." Soun admitted.

Ryoga stopped dead in his tracks. He hadn't a clue where he was
but he was sure about one thing... Someone was following him.

He wasn't sure how long this thing had been following him but it
was apparent it had trouble following his rather erratic path.

Just great, he thought. First he gets lost and now this. All he
wanted do was get a soda pop. But as fate would see it, he was out lost
somewhere in the wilderness. He shivered if this rain didn't give out
soon he was going to go insane. He continued to walk through the forest
trying to pick up any early warning signs of his shadow. He was growing
tired of this game and was much preferable to the damn thing just
showing up in front of him, which it had not.

Ryoga turned "Ehh" He moaned "Come out and show yourself you
coward!" He shouted... Silence... "I said come out and..."

"I heard what you said." A small voice hissed back.

      Ryoga went cold.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ranma-chan awoke with a yawn. She wasn't well rested, but it was
noon and she, wasn't about to waste the day away.
*First things first,* she thought and stumbled off warily. *Need to get
a bath.*

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"He did what?" The voices asked in unison.

"Spent the night on the roof, just as I said." Nabiki said rather
emotionless.

      "But that's crazy." Akane managed.

"Don't tell me sis. Tell him..."

"But it rained all night." Soun pleaded.

"Daddy I didn't put him up to it so don't act as though I chained
him up there or anything, I'm simply answering your question as to
Ranma's where-abouts last night. At any rate I've got some errands to
run so don't expect me home any sooner than dinner." With that Nabiki
turned and exited the room.

"Morning." Ranma-chan said, somewhat weakly, glancing out over
all of the concerned faces. Was that concern? She thought.

      "Ranma?" Akane questioned.

      "Eh? What?" Ranma-chan questioned back.

Akane seemed to look Ranma-chan over and sense something. "Ranma,
uh... Your still not mad about last night are you?"

"Huh?" Ranma asked. "Oh that? Nah, don't worry about it." She
answered, walking past Akane to the back door.

"Boy why aren't you changed back yet?" Genma cut in, asking what
was on everybody's mind.

Ranma-chan turned around, a slight anger was evident in her face.
"Who are you to ask old man, you stay a panda most the time now days."
Ranma-chan accused. "Besides, what business of it's yours." With that,
she turned and exited out into the back yard.

"Ranma, don't you walk away from me boy!" Genma challenged. He
stood up and walked to the open back door.

Ranma stopped in her tracks, but didn't turn around. "Don't call
me boy." No one could mistake the venom in her voice. Genma stood
rooted in place. She then continued her way down to the dojo.

Genma watched her leave. Various different thoughts rolled around
in his mind. He was gonna have to think about this one, he could tell,
but he wasn't about to let the boy become all girly on him.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ryoga's breath caught in his throat. A small figure stood there,
cloaked in the shadows, peering out of its concealment. It's eyes
burning right through him.

Lightning flashed across the storm filled sky, reminding Ryoga of
his handicap in stormy weather. He was glad he had his umbrella.

He began to sweat freely, his tiger striped bandanna clung to his
head from the moisture. "Wha..." He began. "What do you want?" He
finally shouted, at the otherwise still figure.

The figure began to slowly emerge from the dark. Ryoga watched
breathlessly as the shadows began to part, and light filtered out
through the trees onto the figure's form.

      "Huh?" Ryoga gawked.

Standing before him in a motionless pose was a young girl.
Silently Ryoga studied her features.

Her long red hair hung about her shoulders, defining her radiant,
white complexion. Her eyes were a soft green, peering out from
underneath her bangs with an obvious sense of curiosity. Her features
were unreadable, and this was a little unsettling to Ryoga. It was then
that he caught sight of something remarkably unusual about this young
girl.

"Your ears..." He stuttered, and began pointing at the girl with
an outstretched finger. Sticking straight out of the fair skinned red
heads long hair, were two unmistakably long pointy ears.

"Yes, I'm elfin." She stated softly.

      "But..."Ryoga paused. "An elf?"

"Yes, what does it look like." She chided.

"Well I dunno," Ryoga began. "You sorta remind me of herb."

      "Herb?" The small elf questioned.

"Yeah! He's that guy whose prince of the Musk Dynasty." Ryoga
seemed to make the connection. "Hey yeah, that's it isn't it! You got
some type of animal mother don't you?

The young elf seemed to stiffen at that. Her face twisted into
mask of anger, and then just as soon as it had come it vanished.
Leaving her features once again unreadable.

Ryoga watched the elfin girl curiously. Was that anger? He
wondered. Or did I simply imagine it?

"Why have you been following me?" It was time to address a more
pressing matter.

"I haven't been following you." She said as though that answered
everything.

"Then you deny it?!" Ryoga was incredulous.

"Yes." She said not offering any better explanation.

Ryoga just stood there in place, staring out at the beautiful
young elf. What was it she was hiding? He wondered.

"But..." He began. But then realized he still hadn't a clue as
how to handle this. She smiled at him catching him once again, off
guard. Ryoga felt slightly dizzy at that. She was so stunning. He began
to blush.

"I... well... I mean... What I'm trying to say is..." Wait to go
Ryoga! His mind thought. Once again you're the king of charm. He
blushed again at that. "Hi!" He said sheepishly, chuckling all time
with a moronic grin on his face.

"What your trying to say is you're an idiot with no sense of
direction stumbling around out here like a moron. Am I right?" She
finally picked up the initiative.

"Hey that's!.. But you've got it all... I mean what the heck...
arrggggg. That's not fair!" Ryoga finally concluded aloud.

"Oh isn't it?" She began again. "I wwas merely trying to catch up
with you to ask if you knew where I was. Because I'm new to the area,
being an elf and all. But you... You couldn't even keep a straight
course. So I had an awful time trying catch up with you. I mean heck,
every time I thought I was close, you'd actually, I mean actually
double back and head the opposite direction straight back to where you
had just come from! What the hell's wrong with you anyway, can't you at
least tell east from west?"

"Ryoga's features were burning red weather it was anger or
embarrassment, she couldn't tell, but it simply brought a smile to her
face.

"What do you know anyway?!" Ryoga attempted, but then she smiled
again and Ryoga blushed forcing him to cackle out loud like an idiot.

Her smile dropped to that of confusion. Why is he laughing like
that she wondered? "Hey! What's wrong with you? Are you nuts or
something?"

Ryoga went silent again. The bridge of his nose was flaring
bright red.

"Where were you trying to go anyway?" The elf asked flatly
letting her previous manner slip away.

Ryoga couldn't meet her gaze. That beautiful gaze, he thought. "I
was trying to get a soda-pop." Ryoga replied weakly.

       "A soda-pop?" The elf questioned.

Ryoga was caught off guard by the question, but quickly
recovered. "It's a drink."

The small elf couldn't contain herself, she busted out into
uncontrollable laughter. "A drink?" She blurted, still laughing.
"That's the most pathetic thing I've ever heard of." She was laughing
so hard she was loosing her breath. She then dropped her head down to
try regain her composure, though she just couldn't stop laughing.

"At least I'm not a freak!" Ryoga retorted, feeling guilty all
the while knowing, that that, wasn't exactly true.

Her laughter stopped instantly, Anger replacing it. "What did you
call me?" She shouted back coldly.

Ryoga's pride got the better of him. He had found a weak spot.
"You heard me you freak. Your mother must've been a rat or something,
to have ears like that. I seriously doubt you have the dragon lineage
that herb does.

*Dragon lineage?* The small girl wondered, and let the thought
drop. *Such insolence.*

She glowered at Ryoga and he simply continued. "Come to think of
it, the only female musk I've ever seen wasn't really a girl at all! So
that makes you a man too, doesn't it!" The small elf's face began to
turn a dangerous red. Ryoga caught sight of this and inwardly laughed.
*Now who's laughing?* Ryoga thought bitterly. Lightning flashed again
bringing with it a large boom. The rain was gaining in intensity.

He then saw her eyes begin to burn a white-hot glow and realized
he had slightly underestimated the impact of his insults. She was about
to fight him! She made a series of movements behind her head, pulling
something from over her back. A lump formed in Ryoga's throat, it was a
sword! And not just any sword it was a gigantic sword. How had I missed
that? Ryoga thought to himself. The sword was as long if not longer
than Ryoga was tall, and the width of the blade from edge to edge was a
little over a foot. How in the hell can she wield that? Ryoga's mind
was racing. The damn thing was larger than she was!

She then charged, sword held high defying what Ryoga thought
possible. She was quick; Ryoga was having difficulty following her...

Finally she reached him. The sword came down with tremendous
force. Ryoga leapt out of the way just barely missing the blow. *Am I
really going to have to fight a girl?* He asked himself. *Not just a
girl,* he then thought. *An elf with a really large sword who wants to
KILL me!* Ryoga reached back to grab a bandanna and flung it at her.
She tore it away with her sword. Ryoga hit the ground, letting his
ankle absorb the impact. With that, she charged again, but not before
Ryoga readied three more bandannas and sent them soaring at her. Still
charging she tore through all three bandannas with her sword, and leapt
up to bring her large blade down on Ryoga. Ryoga was quicker this time
and sent a chi blast straight for her. "Shi Shi hokodan!" He screamed
as the chi blast left his outstretched arm, and was sent flying towards
her. She attempted to block it with her sword.

Ryoga stared in horror as the sword absorbed most of the blast.
But not before the chi finally knocked the sword from her hands and she
caught a brief bit of the blast in the torso. She flew backward onto
the ground. Her sword lay several yards from her as she worked to gain
back her footing.

Ryoga simply watched as the small elf climbed her way back onto
her feet. *She's...She's powerful!* Ryoga thought as she finally came
to a
fighting stance. She then let her eyes stare straight into his.

"I'm impressed..." She hissed. And then brought her hands
together to form an outstretched cup. Power began to build up in her
palms and she lowered her head in concentration. Could it be...? Ryoga
thought. And with that she released the energy pulse spiraling out
towards a startled Ryoga. Ryoga bolted out of the way, still catching
the repercussive blow, and was sent flying forward.

He jumped to his feet looking back to see the small crater her
blast had created. Anger began to take hold of his senses. He noticed,
then, that she was standing directly underneath a large boulder. All
thought drained from his now focused mind and with two outstretched
fingers he lunged at the huge rock. "Bakusai Tenketsu!" Ryoga shouted
as his fingers made contact with the huge boulder looming over her,
causing it to explode and come crashing to the ground.

She seemed surprised at this but recovered in enough time to
dodge the falling rocks wrath. Dust came up at its impact momentarily
hiding the two from each other. With this distraction at hand she
bolted to her sword retrieving it and making a v-line toward her
adversary. Ryoga's head turned to catch the figure as it was nearly
upon him. She slashed a horizontal swipe. Ryoga ducked. *Wrong
decision!* He thought bitterly as her sword cut through his umbrella
handle, casting it to the ground.

*Damn!* Was all he thought before he was transformed from the
once mighty Ryoga to the tiny little P-chan.

The elf-girl stood in shock. Where once her adversary stood was
now a lump of clothes. "W-what happened? He disappeared!" Her mind was
racing. Just then a tiny little creature began to wiggle its way out
from underneath the clothing. Then the head of a tiny little pig popped
out through the neck hole.

"A... pig?" She said aloud in obvious confusion. Seeing his
chance P-chan whirled about and made a break for the surrounding woods.
The elf gave no chase.
