[one last warning]
AT
YOUR
OWN
RISK
[here goes, don't say you weren't warned]
i had just had had history class, and my teacher is somewhat obsessed with
the greek language. that got my twisted train of thought onto the subject of
etymology. i came up with the word "Gynomorph" out of "anthropomorphic"
which came from the fact that the hindu 'universal spirit' was
nonanthropomorphic. this led naturally to ranma 1/2, as it is one of the
many of my streams of thought that typically do. however, this time my brain
clung to the word, and this is the result. buckle your seat belts for a trip
into the uncharted reaches of the mind of rebeka thomas. many u-turns,
intersections, and geographic impossibilities follow.
it started with this scene:
Akane: I'm not getting married to this FREAK!
Ranma: the appropriate term is "gynomorph" and i don't want to be married
any time in the near future either.
then i thought this is extremely ooc for ranma. the easiest way [and the
'in' way last time i checked] to modify his personality is through some
unknown effect of his curse.
my idea as of the end of lunch [at which point i had to go to class and put
my random thoughts aside] was this:
A scientist trying to uncover the mysteries of jusenkyo falls in the
[uncursed] spring. ranma jumps in to save her. however, she has already
drowned. Nyannichuan already formed, this spring becomes Spring of Drowned
Female Scientist. [no, it's not washu!] ranma therefore recieves from the
spring this:
Breasts
Lack of certain "equipment"
a Scientific mind
and an increased IQ.
the mind and iq stay with him in normal form, only slightly dulled by the
presence of a chemical known to most as "testosterone."
therefore, he decides that his efficiency as both a scientist and a martial
artist are improved in cursed form [most of his martial arts training has
been speed-focused]. the logical deduction for an unbiased mind, which he
attempts to provide, is that it is best to stay in female form.
an idea that came in a flash of inspiration on how to fix the nodoka
situation is:
he [now she] tells nodoka the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the
truth.
Nodoka decides she doesnt want to really kill ranma, and therefore works out
this situation... Ranma died in her eyes when he jumped in the spring. this
is considered an honorable death since he was trying to save a girl's life.
she then adopts ranko [ranma changed her name because this name doesnt
require explanation and therefore increases efficiency on meeting people and
getting work done] as her daughter.
these came up just as i was typing this:
Shampoo: no. they went a different way because they had been in a different
part of jusenkyo valley.
Cologne, Mousse: no. see above
Ryouga: Curse = Wolf. not logical that he was in the same area of jusenkyo
when ranma wasnt. i also want to hear ranma use the word "lycanthrope." and
i don't want any 'p-chan,' and who wants a wolf as a pet?
Ukyou: well, ranma never calls her cute, so she's still bent on revenge. she
asks nodoka about ranma and nodoka says that ranma is dead, ukyou goes home
[no, akane doesnt get ranma. ranma stays single the rest of his/her life
because being tied down hampers research]
Kasumi: Spontaneously transported to another dimension, marries someone, has
a son named Ash Ketchum [i swear, her resemblance to mrs ketchum is
creepy!!]
Tofu: Transported spontaneously into the past of the dimension that kasumi
is transported to, amnesia, adopted by the Oukido [Oak in dub version]
family
the kasumi/tofu ones were jokes, people. if someone wants to do the
kasumi/mrs-ketchum idea in some other fanfic, feel free. best approach is to
have something remind mrs ketchum about her past, ash notices her reaction
[nah, better be misty or Mr. Mime, it's too ooc for ash's density]
Finis: Ranma/Ranko builds a time machine, it transports her XYZ years into
the past to jusenkyo, she thinks it [time machine] was a failure and decides
that since she's here anyway, she might as well get working on that jusenkyo
theory she has. she falls in a spring and a young martial artist jumps in to
try and save her, and it changes his life forever. don't we all love twist
endings?
