While I don't mean to rain on your parade, rain I must. Please be aware that
most web browsers cannot actually handle anything that is not either plain
text or HTML. Word 97 is neither.

Actually, I suspect a great many people don't even have Word 97. I know I
don't.

At the end of the day, it's your call. How many potential readers are you
happy to exclude because you can't be bothered to present your stories in a
readable format? After sweating blood writing them, surely a little extra
effort is worth it?

I am told that Word 97 even has a built-in export to HTML utility, making
the necessary conversion a no-brainer.

Do as I did myself. Copy with CTRL-A to Select all, and CTRL-C to Copy then
CTRL-V to Paste the text in the message. It worked well for all editor/word
processor/WP8/Wordpad/... that I tried. So nobody with Windows as an excuse
anymore.

Warning: Those key can differ in some program. Check in Edit (Edition) to be certain.

It's how, myself, had inserted my story Old Soul 1/2 in my messages to the FFML.
It'd removed even special char set and format in the story.

Hourra to the Cut/Copy and Paste method. Only good thing I found in Windows!

Salut bien !
